Participants will tour laboratories, view research exhibitions, attend poster walks and live demonstrations, and interact with ICMR scientists. The programme, endorsed by Dr Rajiv Bahl, Secretary, DHR & DG, ICMR, also introduced the SHINE website and a nationwide student competition to propose solutions to public‑health challenges, aiming to nurture scientific temper and inspire careers in health research.

The Government of India released the Anemia Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan Operational Guidelines on 29 June 2026 during the 16th Central Council of Health and Family Welfare meeting. The guidelines introduce a 7 × 7 × 7 framework—seven beneficiary groups, seven interventions and seven institutional mechanisms—replacing the earlier 6 × 6 × 6 model. Key components include saturation of Hb testing with digital invasive hemoglobinometers, a shift from the T3 (Test‑Treat‑Talk) to T4 (Test‑Treat‑Talk‑Track) digital tracking approach, and a ‘Jan Bhagidari’ communication strategy to change public perception of anemia. The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying reports that under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) proposals worth ₹21,461.03 crore (central share ₹9,571.09 crore) have been approved for all States/UTs, with Andhra Pradesh receiving ₹2,328.89 crore (central share ₹681.38 crore). Andhra Pradesh provided a diesel subsidy of ₹150 crore to 63,840 beneficiaries (2023‑26) and ₹511.46 crore to 255,731 marine fishers during the 2025‑27 fishing ban. ICAR‑CMFRI’s 2022 stock status indicates 91.1 % of 135 assessed marine fish stocks are sustainable, and no conclusive link between climate variability/pollution and overall marine fish production has been established.

The Ministry of Textiles, through its National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM), has allocated Rs 256 crore for FY 2026‑27, part of which funds the GREAT scheme to support start‑ups in technical textiles. In the current year, 31 start‑ups have been approved for grants totalling Rs 15.40 crore (government share Rs 13.65 crore). An Evaluation and Monitoring Committee evaluates proposals and forwards recommendations to the Empowered Programme Committee. The scheme aims to translate research into commercial products, foster industry‑start‑up collaborations, and generate employment in the technical textiles sector. The Ministry of Textiles reports that under the National Handloom Development Programme (NHDP), 237 Handloom Producer Companies (HPCs) were formed between 2020‑21 and 2025‑26. The programme provides need‑based financial support for upgraded looms, worksheds, lighting units and design development. A concessional credit component – the Weaver MUDRA Scheme – offers margin‑money assistance (20% of loan up to ₹25,000 per weaver or ₹20 lakh per organisation) and loans at a 6% interest rate for three years, with interest subvention capped at 7% and a credit‑guarantee fee. Disbursements are made through the Handloom Weaver Mudra Portal. State‑wise data on upgraded looms, worksheds, lighting units and loan sanctions from 2021‑22 to 2026‑27 are provided, with a national total of 39,251 upgraded looms, 4,919 worksheds and 4,899 lighting units, and 9,526 loans amounting to ₹5,689.46 crore sanctioned.

The Ministry of Textiles announced the approval of seven PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Parks across greenfield and brownfield sites in Tamil Nadu (Virudhnagar), Telangana (Warangal), Gujarat (Navsari), Karnataka (Kalaburagi), Madhya Pradesh (Dhar), Uttar Pradesh (Lucknow) and Maharashtra (Amravati). The scheme carries a total outlay of Rs 4,445 crore for FY 2021‑22 to 2027‑28 and aims to create about 3 lakh jobs per park (≈ 1 lakh direct, 2 lakh indirect). MoUs have been signed, 100 % land acquired, environmental clearances obtained, and SPVs formed for the five greenfield parks. Detailed state‑wise data show land (e.g., 2,158 acres in Madhya Pradesh) and investment interest (e.g., Rs 19,846 crore in Madhya Pradesh).

The Samarth Scheme (Scheme for Capacity Building in Textiles Sector) of the Ministry of Textiles funds implementing partners directly, without state‑ or district‑wise allocations. From FY 2017‑18 to March 2026, allocated funds ranged from Rs 100 crore to Rs 331 crore, with total releases of Rs 100 crore to Rs 260 crore. The scheme has trained 6.17 lakh beneficiaries, of whom 5.17 lakh have been placed. In Rajasthan alone, 27,497 beneficiaries were placed, including 23,102 women, 10,727 SC and 4,753 ST candidates. A total of 370 implementing partners (327 industry/associations, 38 government agencies, 5 sectoral organisations) have been empanelled, with training targets rationalised or cancelled for several partners based on performance.

The Ministry of Development of North‑Eastern Region (MDoNER) and the Chemicals and Allied Products Export Promotion Council (CHEMEXCIL) held an Industry Summit in New Delhi on 11 August 2026 to discuss prospects and export of agarwood oil from India, especially the North‑Eastern Region (NER). The summit featured senior officials including MoS Dr Sukanta Majumdar, MDoNER secretaries, and CHEMEXCIL chairperson, who highlighted the need for investment, advanced extraction technology, brand building and global alliances. A Roadmap for Agarwood Export Promotion from the NER was released, outlining coordinated actions among central ministries, state governments, scientific institutions and export councils. The roadmap builds on an Inter‑Ministerial Task Force (Nov 2023) and an Agarwood Steering Group (Feb 2025), and includes measures such as export‑quota enhancement, digitisation of Certificate of Origin, resource mapping, GI registration and the establishment of an Agarwood Export Promotion Cell (May 2026).

The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying is implementing the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samridhi Sah‑Yojana (PM‑MKSSY), a central‑sector sub‑scheme under PMMSY for FY 2023‑24 to FY 2026‑27 with an estimated outlay of ₹6,000 crore. The scheme aims to formalise the unorganised fisheries sector via the National Fisheries Digital Platform (NFDP), improve access to institutional finance, strengthen cooperatives, provide one‑time incentives for aquaculture insurance, and grant performance‑based support to micro‑enterprises and village‑level organisations. As of 06‑08‑2026, 35.92 lakh fishers/farmers have registered on NFDP; 3,829 cooperatives are approved for strengthening (₹72.75 crore); 2,294 ha of aquaculture insurance covered with OTI of ₹40.03 lakh; 535 loans sanctioned (₹28.04 crore); and 84 performance‑grant applications approved (₹20.55 crore), of which ₹4.33 crore has been released to 21 beneficiaries. State‑wise data show 20.09 lakh small and micro fisheries enterprises supported across 34 states/UTs.

The Ministry of AYUSH has launched the Ayush Grid project as an IT backbone for the AYUSH sector. Its stated objective is to digitise service delivery and enhance transparency, efficiency and governance across healthcare, research, education, drug administration, capacity building and medicinal plants. Under the initiative, 24 e‑governance platforms have been created, including the My Ayush Integrated Services Portal (MAISP), an AI‑enabled chatbot, the AYUSH Hospital Management Information System (AHMIS) compliant with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, the Ayush Anudan Portal, the Ayush Research Portal (hosting over 43,000 research publications), the Ayush Nivesh Saarthi Portal for investors, and the e‑Charak portal for medicinal‑plant trade. These platforms aim to provide citizen‑centric access, real‑time monitoring and data‑driven decision‑making, and collectively improve service delivery, operational efficiency, transparency and accountability.

The Union Minister of State (I/C) for AYUSH, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, informed the Rajya Sabha that under the centrally‑sponsored National AYUSH Mission (NAM), states can receive financial assistance for setting up new AYUSH colleges where government‑sector capacity is inadequate. Odisha has been approved for one such institution – Government Ayurvedic Medical College, Mayurbhanj – for FY 2025‑26. The announcement includes Annexure‑I, listing AYUSH institutions approved under NAM from 2014‑15 to 2026‑27 across various states and Union territories, illustrating the ongoing expansion of AYUSH education under the central scheme.

The Government e‑Marketplace (GeM) has registered 11,75,001 MSMEs, 37,758 start‑ups, 2,17,155 women entrepreneurs and 3,784 SHGs across India as of 30 July 2026. MSME procurement through GeM rose to ₹2.37 lakh crore in FY 2025‑26, up from ₹59,033 crore in FY 2021‑22. GeM now employs AI/ML‑based analytical models to flag suspicious procurement patterns such as order‑splitting, buyer‑seller collusion and abnormal pricing, and shares these cases with buyer organisations. The platform leverages the Competition Commission of India toolkit to detect potential cartels and has an Incident Management framework that led to 55,772 seller suspensions in FY 2025‑26. Safeguards include a fully online vendor registration process and advanced analytics for anomaly detection.

The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying reports that the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) is being implemented with a total outlay of Rs 20,750 crore from FY 2020‑21 for holistic development of the fisheries and aquaculture sector. Under PMMSY and the Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF), the government has approved infrastructure such as 184 fishing harbours and landing centres, 775 cold storages and ice plants, 1,394 live‑fish vending units, 6,018 fish kiosks, 117 retail fish markets, 24 wholesale fish markets and extensive fish‑transport facilities. Marine product exports reached 19.72 lakh MT worth Rs 73,890 crore (USD 8.46 billion) in 2025‑26, covering 128 countries, with the United States as the largest market. The department is undertaking initiatives – including trade delegations, buyer‑seller meets, and round‑table discussions with foreign missions – to diversify export markets, promote high‑value species, and enhance value addition, bio‑security, and compliance with international standards.

On 04 August 2026, Air India flight AI 2379 (Airbus A320, VT‑EXO) from Phuket to Delhi experienced a sudden altitude change of about 300 feet during cruise but later stabilised and landed safely. Twenty passengers and four cabin crew were injured. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has taken up the investigation under DGCA information and ICAO protocols, notifying ICAO and the concerned States. France’s BEA and Airbus technical representatives are providing assistance as per ICAO rules. AAIB is collecting and analysing technical, operational, medical and human‑factor evidence, and will issue preliminary findings within the stipulated timeframe, emphasizing confidentiality and the need to avoid premature conclusions.

On the appeal of Union Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, members of the Vriksh Mitra Parivar will undertake a nationwide plantation drive on ‘Hariyali Amavasya’ (12 August 2026). The initiative, launched from the PBG Ground, Central Range, near Talkatora Stadium, Delhi, aims to plant over 50,000 saplings across villages, cities and panchayats. The Minister urged each person to plant at least one sapling and to encourage five others to do the same, creating a cascade of participation. Participants are asked to upload photographs of their planting activities on the website shivrajsinghchouhan.co.in. The drive seeks to spread environmental‑conservation messages and reinforce the cultural significance of Hariyali Amavasya as a gratitude‑to‑nature festival.

The Fourth Session of the India‑Namibia Joint Trade Committee was held in New Delhi on 10‑11 August 2026. Bilateral merchandise trade increased to US$ 592.94 million in 2025‑26, with India exporting US$ 349.09 million and importing US$ 243.85 million. Key outcomes included the designation of Invest India and Namibia’s Investment Promotion and Development Board as investment focal points, the creation of a Services Working Group (to meet by Feb 2027), and the launch of a Health‑pharma Working Group (by Dec 2026). Cooperation was highlighted in engineering, pharmaceuticals, critical minerals (lithium, graphite, copper, cobalt, rare earths), digital payments (India’s UPI‑based “WayaMe”), and energy infrastructure. The next session is slated for Namibia in 2028.

On the occasion of Hariyali Amavasya (12 August 2026), Union Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan will lead a plantation drive at the PBG Ground, Central Range, near Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi, alongside hundreds of colleagues. In response to his appeal, members of the Vriksh Mitra Parivar across villages, cities and panchayats nationwide will collectively pledge to plant over 50,000 saplings. The initiative seeks to promote environmental conservation by encouraging each participant to plant at least one tree and to cascade the pledge to five additional persons, thereby creating a broader people‑led movement. The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, through NFDC‑National Film Archive of India (NFDC‑NFAI), FIPRESCI‑India and Pune International Centre, will hold the second edition of the ‘Cinemas of India’ film festival in Pune from 21‑23 August 2026. Curated by film critic Premendra Mazumdar, the three‑day event will screen ten contemporary Indian films in languages such as Magadhi, Karbi, Rajasthani, Mising, Bengali, Malayalam, Marathi and Hindi, highlighting linguistic and cultural diversity. The festival is free, with admission on a first‑come, first‑served basis, and aims to promote film appreciation, critical discourse and cultural exchange among audiences, students, researchers and filmmakers.

The Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI), New Delhi, under the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) of the Ministry of AYUSH, inaugurated an Extension Out‑patient Department (OPD) at FC‑5, Block‑A, Sector‑28, Rohini, New Delhi. The facility is intended to expand access to quality, evidence‑based Ayurvedic outpatient services for residents of Rohini and adjoining areas, strengthening CARI’s clinical outreach. The inauguration was led by Prof. (Vaidya) Rabinarayan Acharya, Director General, CCRAS, and attended by senior officials including Dr. Hemanta Panigrahi and Dr. N. Srikanth, who highlighted the aim of integrating evidence‑based Ayurveda into community‑oriented healthcare delivery.
