The Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), in collaboration with State/UT governments, assessed the Dynamic Ground Water Resources for 2025, estimating an annual recharge of 449 billion cubic metres (BCM), extractable resource of 408 BCM and total extraction of 247 BCM. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) conducted a week‑long intelligence‑led operation in Maharashtra, uncovering an organised network that clandestinely manufactured 1 lakh Tramadol Hydrochloride tablets and 1 lakh Tapentadol tablets. The tablets, concealed in an export consignment at Mumbai Air Cargo Complex, were intended for illegal export to Nigeria. DRI seized the tablets, associated compression machinery, raw materials, and arrested three key accused – the exporter, supplier‑coordinator and manufacturer. Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, Chief of the Naval Staff, is on a four‑day official visit to Mauritius from 10 to 13 August 2026.
