Dr. M. L. Jat, Secretary of DARE and Director General of ICAR, addressed a curtain-raiser press conference for the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) 2026 at the ICAR-Central Soil Salinity Research Institute in Karnal. He detailed ICAR's contributions to the thematic area of "Agri-Tech, Food Systems and Nutrition" for ESTIC 2026, scheduled to be held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Dr. Jat highlighted ICAR's research priorities, including genome editing, bio-fortified crop varieties, climate-resilient agriculture, indigenous vaccine research such as an African swine fever vaccine, artificial intelligence in soil science, green ammonia for sustainable fertilizers, and joint initiatives like SEHAT with ICMR linking agriculture, food, and human health.
