Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal met HD Hyundai Chairman Chung Ki-sun in Seoul to review progress on India's proposed greenfield mega shipyard at Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal met H.S.H. Hereditary Prince Alois of Liechtenstein during his State Visit to India on 28 October 2026. The discussions centered on strengthening economic engagement and investment opportunities under the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA), which entered into force on 1 October 2025. The Union Government has deputed a high-level central team to investigate the death of a 19-month-old male cheetah due to firearm pellet injuries in Madhya Pradesh. The cheetah, part of the reintroduced population under Project Cheetah, was found injured outside Kuno National Park in the territorial forests of Morena on October 25, 2026. Despite rescue, intensive veterinary care, and emergency surgery where five firearm pellets were recovered, the animal succumbed to its injuries on October 27, 2026. The central team comprises officials from the National Tiger Conservation Authority and the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, and will coordinate with the Madhya Pradesh Forest Department and its Special Task Force to examine security protocols, monitoring, and protection measures.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued an advisory on the 'Protection of Human Rights of Female Inmates and their Children' addressed to nine Union Ministries, Chief Secretaries/Administrators, and Director Generals of Police of all States and Union Territories. The advisory emphasizes a sensitive, gender-responsive approach towards women prisoners and their children, highlighting ten key areas including custodial safeguards, maternal and child healthcare, legal aid, family contact, living conditions, rehabilitation, and social reintegration. The NHRC has requested an Action Taken Report on the implementation of these recommendations within two months.

Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh and Japan's Minister of Defense Mr Shinjiro Koizumi met on the margins of the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM)-Plus in Cebu, Philippines. India's Index of Industrial Production (IIP) recorded a year-on-year growth of 6.7% in September 2026, with the Quick Estimate standing at 124.3 compared to 116.5 in September 2025. The growth was driven by a 7.6% increase in the Manufacturing sector and an 11.2% growth in the Electricity & Gas Supply sector. Within manufacturing, 17 out of 23 industry groups registered positive growth, led by electrical equipment, motor vehicles, and rubber and plastics products. As per use-based classification, intermediate goods, capital goods, and primary goods recorded notable expansions.

The Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation (DDWS), Ministry of Jal Shakti, organised the 12th edition of the multilingual 'Sujal Gram Samvad' to promote community-led water governance under Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0. Government e Marketplace (GeM), in collaboration with Laghu Udyog Bharati (LUB), organized GeM Samvad 2026 to highlight public procurement reforms for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs). The GeM-LUB partnership, formalized through a 2024 MoU, has facilitated 108 virtual conferences alongside physical events to expand MSME onboarding and digital literacy. The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare is organizing the nationwide 'Khet Bachao Abhiyan–Rabi 2026' campaign from October 22 to November 30, 2026. Implemented through its departments and local bodies such as Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Ujwa, Delhi, the initiative puts the 'Lab to Land' concept into practice by facilitating direct interaction between agricultural scientists and farmers in rural areas. The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment's SMILE (Support for Marginalised Individuals for Livelihood and Enterprise) Scheme has facilitated the comprehensive rehabilitation and livelihood support of an individual named Meera Thakur. Rescued from homelessness and begging in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, through an implementing partner organization, she received medical care, psychological counseling, institutional shelter, and skill development training. Through the scheme's interventions, she transitioned from depending on alms to earning a structured income through handicrafts, kitchen management responsibilities at the rehabilitation center, and participation in public markets, illustrating the scheme's approach to holistic rehabilitation, dignity, and self-reliance.

The National Land Monetization Corporation (NLMC), operating under the Department of Public Enterprises, Ministry of Finance, has issued Corrigendum-6 and Corrigendum-7 regarding the e-auction of land plots belonging to Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Under Corrigendum-6, 35 plots were withdrawn from the auction process following a judicial court order prohibiting their sale. Through Corrigendum-7, the auction schedule was revised, extending the last date for registration and Earnest Money Deposit submission to November 1, 2026, while scheduling the e-auction for the remaining plots on November 3, 2026.
