The Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) organized a conclave of the Heads of Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) in New Delhi to expand the SIDBI-RRB MSME Co-Lending arrangement. The Ministry of Food Processing Industries hosted the PMFME (Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises) Bazaar on 24–25 August 2026 at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. Bringing together exhibitors from 25 States and Union Territories, the event served as a national showcase for micro food enterprises, SHGs, FPOs, cooperatives, and entrepreneurs to display value-added traditional products such as millets, spices, pickles, and snacks. Launched on 29 June 2020, the PMFME Scheme supports micro food enterprises through financial, technical, and business assistance, including credit-linked capital subsidies. India and Seychelles held a high-level bilateral meeting on August 25, 2026, to strengthen strategic cooperation in fisheries, aquaculture, and the blue economy. The Government has initiated the calibrated and targeted release of onions from the Price Stabilization Fund (PSF) buffer stock to moderate seasonal price pressures. A hybrid transportation model using railway rakes (via the Kanda Express from Nashik) and road transport is being deployed to supply major consumption centres. Onions are being retailed at ₹35 per kg through agencies like NCCF, NAFED, Kendriya Bhandar, and Safal. The domestic onion availability is supported by an estimated 2025-26 production of 307.37 LMT and a 2026-27 Rabi procurement target of 2.00 LMT, with the Central Warehousing Corporation engaged as a storage agency for the first time.

The Central Government is monitoring the situation arising from a flash flood in Nepal, which resulted from a sudden rise in the Trishuli river water level due to suspected flash flood or GLOF activity near the Nepal-China border. The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) conducted a special surprise inspection drive under Operation Clean Air in Loni, Ghaziabad. Deployed flying squads, magistrates, police, and Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board officials inspected 28 industrial premises, finding all of them non-compliant with environmental norms. Major violations included operating without valid Consent to Operate, using unapproved fuels like wood and coal, running furnaces without Air Pollution Control Devices, and engaging in illegal industrial activities. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) released the pension for August 2026 to 4,40,901 pensioners under the Keralam Zone ahead of the Onam festival. Ordinarily disbursed at the end of the month, the pension was credited early on August 26, 2026, via special arrangements to assist pensioners with financial requirements for the celebrations. The disbursement was processed through EPFO’s Centralized Pension Payment System (CPPS), which enables direct and efficient transfer of pensions to beneficiary bank accounts.

The International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) has issued its first compliance certificate for a 15-metre multi-axle sleeper bus under standards AIS-119 and AIS-153, in accordance with the Central Motor Vehicles Rules (CMVR). Awarded to Synaty Automotive Pvt. Ltd. at Manesar, Haryana, the certification covers a bus configuration designed for long-distance travel, available in a 42-berth fully sleeper variant or a 21-berth and 42-seat hybrid variant. The vehicle underwent testing for structural integrity, vehicle safety, fire safety, passenger accommodation, and comfort.
