The Vice-President of India inaugurated Navaratri Sargotsavam 2026 in Kozhikode, Keralam, organised by Kesari Weekly. The Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, is scheduled to confer the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for the years 2024 and 2025 on 106 young artists. The award ceremony will take place in New Delhi at the Meghdoot Complex, Rabindra Bhavan. Instituted by the Sangeet Natak Akademi in 2006, the award honors young artists up to the age of 40 in the fields of music, dance, and drama. According to Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) data cited in the PIB release, India's female Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR) increased from 23.3% in 2017-18 to 40% in 2025, and the Worker Population Rate (WPR) rose from 22% to 38.8%, with an estimated 20 crore women aged 15 and above employed in 2025. Dr. M. L. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated five development projects worth around ₹3,350 crore in Ladakh via video conferencing. The Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, organized an Orientation-cum-Review Workshop in Bhopal on the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS). The workshop focused on reviewing implementation progress, training officials on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), and addressing verification challenges. The Ministry emphasized timely student registration by October 31, 2026, and application verification at Institute Nodal Officer and District Nodal Officer levels by November 15 and November 30, 2026, respectively. The Ministry of Defence has signed contracts totaling approximately Rs 4,106 crore to procure the GSAT-7C communication satellite for the Indian Air Force and Varunastra Heavy Weight Torpedoes for the Indian Navy. The Rs 2,563 crore contract for the indigenously designed and manufactured GSAT-7C satellite was inked with New Space India Limited, Bengaluru, to enhance secure and seamless communication for IAF assets. The Rs 1,543 crore contract for Varunastra, an indigenous ship-launched anti-submarine torpedo developed by the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory, was signed with Bharat Dynamics Limited, Hyderabad. These contracts support domestic defence manufacturing and self-reliance under the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' and 'Make-in-India' initiatives.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Shri Piyush Goyal launched the National Strategic Trade Command Centre (NSTCC) at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi. Developed by the Department of Commerce, the NSTCC aims to strengthen data-driven monitoring, trade intelligence, and evidence-based decision-making in India's international trade ecosystem. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change announced that India’s Ramsar site tally has increased to 103 following the designation of Sukhna Wetland in Chandigarh and Sauj Jheel in Uttar Pradesh as new Ramsar sites. According to quick estimates released by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, India's cumulative exports of merchandise and services for April–September 2026–27 are estimated at US$ 476.20 billion, reflecting an estimated growth of 13.84% compared to US$ 418.31 billion in April–September 2025–26. Cumulative merchandise exports reached US$ 259.89 billion, while cumulative merchandise imports touched US$ 437.53 billion. For the single month of September 2026, total combined exports were estimated at US$ 80.75 billion and total imports at US$ 94.05 billion. Major drivers of merchandise export growth during this period included electronic goods, petroleum products, organic and inorganic chemicals, and engineering goods.

The Capacity Building Commission (CBC) is organizing the third regional workshop of Sādhana Śhrinkhla 2026 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, on 23 and 24 October 2026. The event brings together eight States and four Union Territories from the Northern Region to deliberate on transforming Government Training Institutes into modern, competency-driven capacity building institutions under Mission Karmayogi. The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS), Ministry of Jal Shakti, organized the 13th District Collectors’ Peyjal Samvad under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) 2.0 to accelerate rural drinking water service delivery, source sustainability, and community ownership. Chaired by the Secretary of DDWS, the conference focused on data-driven governance, regular monitoring through the DWSM portal, functionality assessment via Jal Seva Aankalan, the Decision Support System (DSS) for evidence-based planning, and the Jal Arpan module for scheme handover. The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) conducted an inspection drive in Gurugram on October 14, 2026, to assess road dust and the effectiveness of road cleaning and sweeping operations. Deploying four flying squads, the inspection covered 52 road stretches spanning about 104 kilometers under the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) and the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA). The drive recorded 258 violations, including visible road dust, accumulated Construction & Demolition waste, damaged footpaths, and potholes. MCG, GMDA, and other agencies have been directed to take corrective measures and maintain roads in a dust-free condition, with warnings of strict action for non-compliance.
