Raichur in Karnataka has transformed the 35-acre Yakalaspura dumpsite into a green asset through scientific legacy waste remediation under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0 (SBM-U 2.0). Approximately 62,252 metric tonnes of legacy waste were processed, reclaiming nearly 22 acres of urban land. On 5 June 2026, the site was inaugurated after plantation activities commenced, featuring a Miyawaki forest developed across 5–7 acres with 60,000 saplings of bamboo and native species. The project was executed in collaboration with the Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited and New India Space Limited, aiming to enhance biodiversity, carbon sequestration, and air quality.

The 97th Annual General Meeting of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) Society was held in New Delhi, chaired by the Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare. An agreement has been signed between Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN) under the Department of Telecommunications, the Government of Chhattisgarh, CSBIL, BSNL, and CHiPS to implement the Amended BharatNet Program in Chhattisgarh under a State-led model. The Union Government has approved financial support of ₹3,942 crore for the rollout. The program covers 11,682 Gram Panchayats—including the upgradation of 4,048 Phase I Gram Panchayats to ring topology, coverage of 5,964 Phase II Gram Panchayats, and 1,670 newly created Gram Panchayats—along with providing on-demand connectivity to 8,328 villages. The initiative aims to enable over three lakh rural home fibre connections and improve digital service delivery such as e-governance, education, telemedicine, and digital payments.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has completed over 2 crore Mandatory Biometric Updates (MBU) for school children across nearly 1.6 lakh schools as part of a nationwide mission-mode drive initiated in September 2025. This drive utilized technological integration with UDISE+ and coordinated outreach with State and UT education departments to conduct school-level camps. Mandatory Biometric Updates are required at ages 5 and 15 to update developing biometrics. UIDAI has waived MBU charges for children aged 7–15 years starting October 1, 2025, making MBU completely free for children aged 5–17 years until September 30, 2026, to prevent authentication difficulties in government schemes and competitive examinations.

Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan led a commitment program to implement Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Shakti Ki Saptadhara’ vision for agriculture and rural development. The Raksha Mantri flagged off the National Cadet Corps' (NCC) All India Girls High Altitude Long Trek, 'Aparajita - Parang La 2026', in New Delhi. Led by women officers from the three Services, 28 girl cadets with an average age of 19 are undertaking a 30-day, 250-kilometer trek across the Parang La Pass at 5,578 meters, connecting Himachal Pradesh's Spiti Valley with Ladakh's Changthang region. The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved the acquisition by Tata Steel Ltd. of a 23% equity shareholding in TM International Logistics Limited (TMILL) currently held by IQ Martrade Holding Und Management GmbH. Following this transaction, IQ Martrade will exit TMILL and cease to be a shareholder. Tata Steel and NYK (Europe) B.V. will hold 74% and 26% equity shareholding in TMILL, respectively. TMILL is a public limited company that services Tata Steel's logistics and cargo transportation needs, covering railway cargo transportation, port operations, cargo handling, and freight forwarding.

A wage-related dispute involving 423 contract workers at the Ordnance Factory in Kanpur under Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWEIL) was resolved through the intervention of the Regional Labour Commissioner (Central), Kanpur. Following conciliation efforts, the contractor disbursed approximately ₹50,00,000/- towards outstanding wages for June and July 2026. Additionally, the Principal Employer released the contractor's pending bill for May 2026. This intervention successfully averted a proposed strike, prevented disruption of industrial operations, and promoted industrial peace and harmony by sensitizing management to statutory labour welfare obligations.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has extended the digital FASTag Local Pass facility to 121 toll plazas across the country. Eligible commuters residing within a 20 km radius of an eligible toll plaza can subscribe to the monthly local pass online through the Rajmargyatra Mobile App, removing the need for physical visits and manual document submission. The digital system utilizes consent-based integration with DigiLocker and VAHAN, alongside GIS-based verification to check residential address and vehicle details. The initiative aims to enhance ease of living, improve transparency, and streamline tolling operations.

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved the acquisition of additional shareholding in Acko Technology & Services Private Limited by General Atlantic Singapore ACK Pte. Ltd. on a fully diluted basis, crossing the 25 percent threshold through a rights issue. General Atlantic Singapore ACK Pte. Ltd. is an investment holding company incorporated in Singapore and affiliated with General Atlantic investment funds. Acko Technology & Services Private Limited is an Insure-tech company incorporated in India with three wholly-owned Indian subsidiaries: Assurelink, Acko General Insurance, and Acko Life Insurance. The transaction falls under the regulatory purview of India's competition authority.

The Ministry of Defence signed a contract with General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA‑ASI) to lease two MQ‑9B Sea Guardian high‑altitude long‑endurance remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS) to the Indian Navy for 30 months. The deal, valued at about Rs 1,943 crore, was executed by Additional Secretary & Director General (Acquisition) Shri A. Anbarasu at Kartavya Bhawan‑2, New Delhi on 17 August 2026. The MQ‑9B platforms, equipped with advanced sensors and payloads, are intended to boost the Navy’s maritime domain awareness and provide persistent intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) coverage across the Indian Ocean Region.
