Scientists at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) have developed a smart fluorescence lifetime-responsive probe named TZ-48 and a smartphone-integrated platform called ADxFluor for the detection of amyloid-β (Aβ), a core biomarker for Alzheimer's disease (AD). TZ-48 undergoes changes in fluorescence intensity upon interacting with Aβ, which are captured and quantified using a dedicated smartphone application. The probe exhibits blood-brain barrier permeability, labels Aβ plaques in transgenic AD mouse brains, and detects Aβ in cerebrospinal fluid and blood serum. This technology offers a simple, cost-effective, and portable point-of-care diagnostic system as an alternative to expensive methods like PET and MRI.

CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories (CSIR-NAL) has unveiled three indigenous micro and small gas turbine engines: the NJ-05 (5 kg thrust), NJ-50 (50 kg thrust), and NJ-100 (100 kg thrust). Developed to support indigenous defence technologies, these compact propulsion systems are designed for tactical unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), drone interceptors, and compact missile systems. The project highlights advancements in high-RPM turbomachinery and high-temperature combustion technologies, marking a step toward technological self-reliance in aerospace engineering and supporting Atmanirbhar Bharat.

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) released its Flash Report tracking Central Sector infrastructure projects worth ₹150 crore and above as of July 2026. Using the PAIMANA-PROJ platform and PAIMANA-CRIP repository, the Ministry monitors 1,775 ongoing infrastructure projects across 17 Central Ministries and Departments with a total revised cost of ₹37.11 lakh crore. The cumulative expenditure stands at ₹19.26 lakh crore. The Transport and Logistics sector accounts for the highest number of projects and revised costs, while the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways holds the highest project count by ministry. Additionally, 36 new projects were brought under monitoring in July 2026.

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare convened a two-day National Workshop on the Samagra Shishu Bal Swasthya Karyakram (SSBSK) in Maharashtra. SSBSK, launched by Union Minister Shri J.P. Nadda on June 29, 2026, integrates Home-Based New-born Care (HBNC) and Home-Based Care for Young Child (HBYC) into a unified, risk-stratified, and digitally enabled continuum of care for children from birth to 36 months. The workshop focused on operationalizing SSBSK guidelines, risk-differentiated care, and utilizing the Shaishav App for digital tracking, home visits, follow-ups, and referrals to improve child survival, growth, and development outcomes.

A large study conducted by scientists from the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences (BSIP) along with international institutions has identified that South Asian gut microbiomes are distinct from those in other global populations and are shaped by local culture, diet, geography, and lifestyle. The investigation analyzed stool samples from 575 healthy adults across ten communities in India and Sri Lanka using the newly launched South Asian MicroBiome ARray (SAMBAR). The findings provide a scientific foundation for personalized healthcare, diagnostics, and microbiome-based therapies targeted at lifestyle disorders such as obesity and diabetes in the region.

The Ministry of Rural Development participated in World Water Week 2026 in Stockholm, Sweden, to showcase India's community-led water security and rural development initiatives. A review meeting on the performance of Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) chaired by the Secretary, Department of Financial Services, highlighted significant growth during the Financial Year 2025-26. Operating through 22,273 branches across 26 States and 3 Union Territories covering about 700 districts, the total business of all 28 RRBs crossed ₹13.5 lakh crore. Their net profit reached a record ₹10,176 crore, compared to ₹6,820 crore in FY 2024-25. Furthermore, Gross and Net Non-Performing Assets reached all-time lows of 5.3% and 2.1% respectively, while the Credit-Deposit Ratio climbed to an all-time high of 75.2%, and over 54.98 lakh new PMJDY accounts were opened.

The 'Parishrama Adalat', a conciliation conclave for Micro and Small Enterprise (MSE) delayed-payment disputes, was organised in Hyderabad by the Commissionerate of Industries and Commerce, Government of Telangana, in association with the Ministry of MSME. The event successfully resolved 65 delayed-payment cases involving ₹8.29 crore using conciliation and Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) mechanisms. The initiative highlights how resolving delayed payments supports business continuity, improves cash flow, and strengthens commercial relationships. The Department of Consumer Affairs has launched a nationwide capacity-building training programme for Legal Metrology Officers to ensure uniform, effective, and transparent implementation of recent reforms, including the decriminalisation of provisions under the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 and Jan Vishwas reforms. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar interacted with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and BLO Supervisors of Uttar Pradesh in Lucknow. The CEC described BLOs as foundational pillars of Indian democracy and repositories of trust and transparency in electoral processes, serving as the first interface between the Election Commission of India and citizens. The Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) organized its first-ever interactive meeting with the Central Drugs Laboratory (CDL) and Central Cosmetics Laboratory (CCL) in Kolkata to discuss pharmacopoeial standards and drug quality. Titled “IP 2026: Perspectives, Suggestions & Way Forward,” the meeting focused on assuring the quality, safety, and efficacy of pharmaceuticals. A key highlight was the launch of seven Indian Pharmacopoeia Nitrosamine Impurities Reference Standards to aid in accurate detection, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance. These standards target genotoxic nitrosamine impurities that can occur unintentionally in pharmaceuticals used for conditions like hypertension, diabetes, and tuberculosis.
