Over 250 students attended expert sessions and hands‑on activities introducing them to AIKosh – India’s unified data platform that currently hosts more than 14,000 datasets, 300 AI models and 30 toolkits. The Ministry of Education has announced that the last date for submitting fresh and renewal applications for the National Means‑cum‑Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) for the 2026‑27 academic year is 31 August 2026, to be done via the National Scholarship Portal. Applications undergo two‑stage verification – Level‑1 by Institute Nodal Officers by 15 September 2026 and Level‑2 by District Nodal Officers by 30 September 2026. From 2026‑27, students can apply for one merit‑based and multiple welfare‑based scholarships simultaneously, provided eligibility criteria are met. The Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has amended the Drugs Rules, 1945 through G.S.R. No. 756(E) dated 16 October 2025. The amendment empowers the licensing authority to debar entities that submit fake or fabricated data in any drug‑related application, preventing them from filing further applications with the State or Central authority for a specified period. On 6 August 2026, Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh chaired the Parliamentary Consultative Committee meeting for the Ministry of Defence in New Delhi, focusing on the Territorial Army (TA). The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of a media report that a 12‑year‑old girl in Shahzadpur, Ambala district, Haryana died of jaundice after consuming contaminated drinking water supplied through a public tap. Several other children in the area have also been diagnosed with jaundice. The NHRC considers the alleged contamination a possible human‑rights violation and has issued a notice to the Haryana Chief Secretary, requesting a detailed report within two weeks on the health status of the affected children and the steps taken by the administration to address the issue.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of a media report that a Class 4 Dalit student was beaten and subjected to casteist slurs by a teacher at a government primary school in Ukawal village, Shivpuri district, Madhya Pradesh on 28 July 2026. The NHRC noted that, if true, the incident raises serious human‑rights concerns. Consequently, it issued notices to the Madhya Pradesh Chief Secretary and the Shivpuri Superintendent of Police, seeking a detailed report within two weeks, including the status of statutory relief to the victim.
