Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh addressed the participants of the second edition of Exercise Tarang Shakti 2026 at Air Force Station Jodhpur. Hosted by the Indian Air Force, the multinational air exercise brought together air forces from seven friendly foreign countries alongside numerous observer nations. The Raksha Mantri emphasised the importance of self-reliance (Atmanirbharta) in defence, technological innovation, and international cooperation. He noted the transformation of modern warfare through unmanned systems, artificial intelligence, and electronic warfare, stressing that future military power depends on the speed of sensing, deciding, and acting, as well as trusted partnerships rather than platforms alone. The exercise highlighted India's indigenous defence ecosystem, including platforms like Tejas and Prachand.

The Minister of State for Coal and Mines inaugurated the Third National Conference and Exhibition on Corporate Social Responsibility (NCCSR 2026) in New Delhi, organised by the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. The two-day conference centered on the theme “Re-envisioning the Spirit of CSR for Viksit Bharat: From Compliance to Commitment.” During the event, dignitaries released the Comprehensive CSR Framework for Indian Coal Companies and the India CSR Factbook 2024–25. Discussions spanned board governance, the Social Stock Exchange, sector-based CSR approaches aligned with Sustainable Development Goals, and the CSR Exchange Portal, highlighting a collaborative push toward outcome-oriented and accountable corporate social responsibility.

India's lighthouses are undergoing transformation from purely navigational aids into multi-use public tourism destinations, cultural spaces, and museum sites. With a coastline exceeding 11,000 km and 205 lighthouses managed under the Directorate General of Lighthouses and Lightships (DGLL), 75 lighthouses have been developed as tourism spots, witnessing an increase in visitors from about 4 lakh in 2014 to 18.63 lakh in 2024–25. Technological upgrades include 100% solar power implementation and the installation of 87 Automatic Identification System (AIS) shore stations. Additionally, initiatives include setting up India's first inland waterway lighthouse infrastructure along the Brahmaputra at Pandu, Bogibeel, Silghat, and Biswanath Ghat, and constructing the National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) featuring a 77-metre-high Lighthouse Museum at Lothal.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Chennai, Tamil Nadu, to lay the foundation stone, inaugurate, and dedicate multiple development projects valued at over ₹13,000 crore spanning sectors such as metro rail, highways, railways, ports, petroleum, and education. Key projects include the Poonamallee-Vadapalani stretch of the Chennai Metro Rail Project Phase II, national highway sections under NH-744 and NH-83, railway infrastructure developments and Amrit Stations, port-related upgrades at Chennai Port, V.O. Chidambaranar Port, and Kamarajar Port, a Lube Oil Base Stocks project at the Manali Refinery, and the dedication of the Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Centre at IIT Madras along with associated global scientific atlases.

Under Phase VII of the Ministry of Education’s Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative, Goa and Mizoram have been paired for Yuva Sangam to foster cultural exchange, national integration, and mutual understanding among youth. Coordinated by NIT Goa, the exchange involves a 57-member delegation from Mizoram visiting Goa and a 55-member team from Goa visiting Mizoram for week-long programmes. The initiative centers on five themes: Prodyogiki, Parampara, Pragati, Paryatan, and Paraspar Sampark. Participants will experience local traditions, heritage sites, developmental initiatives, and meet dignitaries.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, through MY Bharat and the National Service Scheme (NSS), organised the nationwide 'Yuva Sanwad Mela' on October 9, 2026. This marked the conclusion of the first month of the 100-Week Sankalp Abhiyan under the theme 'My Health, My Pride', focused on substance abuse prevention. The initiative was conducted across 200 designated institutions and their adopted villages, engaging over 1.06 lakh participants through youth dialogues, awareness stalls, and cultural performances. The campaign recorded high participation from young women and leveraged digital platforms using the hashtag #NashaMuktYuva. Month 2 of the campaign will transition to focus on physical fitness and sports under the theme 'Fit Youth, Addiction-Free Youth'.

Yard 3040 (Shreyas), a Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessel (NGOPV), was launched at M/s GRSE, Kolkata, on 10 October 2026. Constructed as part of concurrent building at two shipyards (GSL, Goa and GRSE, Kolkata), these indigenously designed and built ships are intended to augment multi-domain operations such as maritime surveillance, search and rescue, offshore asset protection, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR), and anti-piracy missions. The launch supports the Government of India's vision of 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' and 'Make in India' in indigenous shipbuilding.

The Indian Parliamentary Delegation, led by Shri Harivansh, Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, participated in the final day of the 153rd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in Arusha, Tanzania, on October 9, 2026. During the meeting of the Governing Council, Indian delegates cast their three allocated votes in the election for the President of the IPU, which resulted in the election of Mr. Milton Dick, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Australia. The 24th Annual Conference of the Women’s Cancer Initiative–Tata Memorial Hospital (WCI–TMH) in Mumbai discussed the integration of emerging scientific evidence into gynaecological cancer care. The conference, themed “Gynaecological Cancers: Evidence meets Practice,” addressed precision diagnostics, molecular classification, genetic testing, advanced surgical techniques, precision radiotherapy, targeted therapies, and immunotherapy. According to GLOBOCAN 2024 estimates cited at the conference, over 1.5 lakh new cases of cervical, ovarian, and uterine corpus cancers were estimated in India in 2024. The event included international and Indian oncologists exploring multidisciplinary approaches, clinical research, artificial intelligence applications in oncology, and specialised pre-conference workshops.

The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, has organised the Yuva Sangam Phase VII programme under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative. A Telangana delegation, led by the Central University of Karnataka, arrived in Guwahati on October 4, 2026, and was welcomed by IIT Guwahati. During their visit, the young delegates participated in a yoga session and interacted with the Governor of Assam, Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, on October 5, 2026. Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya addressed the event, calling upon youth to serve as ambassadors of Viksit Bharat@2047 and active partners in nation-building. The 25-day 'Yatri Sewa Abhiyan', organized by the Airports Authority of India at Goa International Airport, Dabolim, concluded with a focus on passenger convenience, accessibility, and service standards. The campaign involved inspecting and upgrading key facilities such as cleanliness, seating, parking, signage, baggage handling, and helpdesks. It highlighted digital initiatives like Digi Yatra, Self Baggage Drop, and Common Use Self-Service kiosks to ease travel. Special attention was given to persons with reduced mobility, Divyangjan, senior citizens, and first-time flyers. Cultural activities, a cleanliness drive, a Waste-to-Art exhibition on Gandhi Jayanti, and reviews of emergency preparedness and sustainable practices were also part of the initiative.

Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, will lead the 94th edition of the Fit India Sundays on Cycle in Varanasi on 11 October 2026. The event, themed “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat,” aims to promote fitness, youth empowerment, and a drug-free lifestyle. It features participation from various Asian Games medallists, including Prachi Chaudhary, Parul Chaudhary, Jay Kumar, and Raj Kumar Pal. The initiative is organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with the Cycling Federation of India, Raahgiri Foundation, and MY Bharat, and is conducted across multiple centres nationwide.

The Vice-President of India addressed the Second Convocation of AIIMS Deoghar in Jharkhand, highlighting the institution's role in advancing medical education and healthcare access for tribal and rural communities in the Santhal Pargana region. During the address, the Vice-President noted the expansion of medical colleges nationwide from 387 before 2014 to 846, and emphasized that inclusive healthcare and higher education are vital for achieving Viksit Bharat by 2047. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, alongside the Government of Gujarat, is organising the BRICS Traditional and Indigenous Sports Demonstration Games 2026 at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad under India's BRICS Chairship. Scheduled for October 12, 2026, the event is set to be inaugurated by Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya. Designed as a non-competitive platform rather than a medal-based competition, the Games aim to promote cultural exchange, heritage preservation, and people-to-people cooperation by showcasing traditional and indigenous sporting practices from BRICS member and partner nations such as Belarus, Bolivia, Brazil, China, Ethiopia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates.

The Directorate General of Taxpayer Services (DGTS), Mumbai Zonal Unit, in association with the University of Mumbai's Garware Institute of Career Education and Development, organized a hybrid outreach program focusing on tax literacy, mental health awareness, and the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. The initiative aimed to promote responsible citizenship, voluntary tax compliance, and informed decision-making among youth. Sessions covered topics including the interlinkages between Customs and Goods and Services Tax (GST), mental well-being, stress management, and substance abuse prevention. Additionally, a book titled "Duty in Suspension: Bonded Warehousing in India – Concept and Practice" was released during the event.

The Vice-President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, visited the Sainya Sampark Mela – Sadaiv Aapke Saath in Deoghar, Jharkhand. Organised by the Indian Army in collaboration with the Deoghar District Administration, the event aimed to provide welfare services, pension assistance, medical facilities, and grievance redressal to ex-servicemen, Veer Naris, and their dependents in the Santhal Pargana region. During the event, the Vice-President highlighted the fulfillment of One Rank, One Pension, paid tribute to local tribal freedom fighters and military heroes, and toured various public service and military exhibition stalls.

The Defence Correspondents Course concluded at Tezpur after a three-week duration involving 24 journalists. The course covered Navy, Air Force, and Army legs through briefings, field visits, and interactions with military personnel to provide insights into the functioning of the Defence Forces and defence reporting. The valedictory function was chaired by Lieutenant General Neeraj Shukla, General Officer Commanding, Gajraj Corps, with Shri Vijay Kumar, Additional Director General (Media & Communication), Ministry of Defence, and other officials in attendance.
