The Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs announced the completion of one year of the restructured Prime Minister Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) Scheme, which was approved by the Union Cabinet on 27 August 2025. Originally launched on 1 June 2020, the restructured scheme extends lending up to 31 March 2030, targeting 1.15 crore street vendors. In its first post-restructuring year, 21.86 lakh loans worth ₹6,294 crore were disbursed to 10.56 lakh new beneficiaries. The Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PM-JDY), India’s national mission for financial inclusion launched in 2014, has completed 12 years of implementation. Over this period, PM-JDY accounts have expanded significantly from 14.72 crore in 2015 to 59.09 crore as of August 19, 2026, with 32.92 crore female beneficiaries. Total deposits have surged to ₹3,16,514 crore, and 41.29 crore RuPay debit cards have been issued. The scheme provides basic savings accounts with no minimum balance requirement, accident insurance cover, overdraft facilities, and access to various social security and direct benefit transfer schemes, thereby driving broad-based economic participation and poverty reduction.

The Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), launched on August 28, 2014, has completed 12 years of transforming India's financial inclusion landscape. As of August 19, 2026, the total number of PMJDY accounts reached 59.09 crore, with total deposits amounting to ₹3.17 lakh crore. The initiative ensures basic bank accounts with no minimum balance requirement, free RuPay debit cards with accident insurance cover of ₹2 lakh, and an overdraft facility of up to ₹10,000. Data shows that 55.7% to 56% of account holders are women, and 77.8% to 78% of accounts are located in rural and semi-urban areas. Serving as the core of the Jan-Dhan-Aadhaar-Mobile (JAM) trinity, the scheme enables direct and transparent delivery of welfare benefits to the underprivileged.

The Ministry of Defence announced the delivery of 'Samarthak', the first indigenous Multi-Purpose Vessel (MPV) of the Indian Navy, built by Larsen & Toubro Ltd. at Kattupalli. The Ministry of Panchayati Raj has launched 'DAANVEER', a people-led computer crowdsourcing initiative designed to strengthen digital infrastructure and governance at the grassroots level in Gram Panchayats. Operating through the Meri Panchayat mobile application, the initiative enables individuals, organizations, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) partners to voluntarily donate desktop computers directly to verified Gram Panchayats. The platform integrates with DigiHaat, an Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC)-enabled digital marketplace, simplifying the procurement and delivery process. Donors can select a Panchayat, choose a standardized computer bundle, make digital payments, and track orders in real time. Once the Gram Panchayat Secretary acknowledges receipt and installs the equipment, donors receive a digitally generated Certificate of Appreciation.

The Raksha Mantri and the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister performed the Bhoomi Pujan for the T-Series Tanks Overhaul Project at the Vehicle Factory in Jabalpur, a unit of Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL). Valued at Rs 472 crore, the project aims to overhaul 80 T-72 and T-90 tanks annually to meet the Indian Army's requirement of 230 overhauls per year, supplementing the Heavy Vehicles Factory in Avadi.
