The Department of Social Justice & Empowerment has successfully migrated the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) Portal to the SAMAVESH Portal, which was developed by the National e Governance Division. Following this migration, the previous portal has been discontinued and is no longer accessible. The Ministry has announced new links and QR codes for the NMBA Portal, e-Pledge, Nasha Mukti Mitr Registration, NMBA Login, and the NMBA Mobile App. All line ministries, departments, and stakeholders are instructed to update their official communications, websites, and IEC materials to reflect the new SAMAVESH Portal links while keeping existing login credentials valid.

The Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education has extended the online registration deadline for Yuva Sangam Phase VII until August 31, 2026. Yuva Sangam is a youth exchange programme under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) initiative, designed for youth aged 18 to 30 years, including higher education students, NSS/NYKS volunteers, and young professionals. The programme features 20 nodal Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) hosting five to seven day educational and cultural tours to paired States and Union Territories. It is structured around five thematic pillars: Paryatan, Parampara, Pragati, Paraspar Sampark, and Prodyogiki, aligning with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Starting in 2017, he received financial assistance of ₹35,000 per month under the fellowship scheme, which helped him overcome economic barriers, maintain stability, and focus on his scientific research without major financial stress. The assistance enabled him to successfully complete his doctorate and work as a Research Associate in agricultural sciences.

The meeting of the Hindi Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Rural Development was held in New Delhi under the chairmanship of Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Act, 2026 amends the MMDR Act, 1957 to establish a uniform and balanced fiscal framework for the mining sector. The Act introduces Section 9D, restricting State Governments from levying fresh taxes, cesses, or charges on mineral rights and mineral-bearing lands unless prescribed by the Central Government. It declares any unpaid or uncollected past levies invalid while protecting amounts already deposited. Furthermore, the Act empowers the Central Government under Section 13 to frame rules governing such levies, aiming to eliminate fragmented State taxation, remove cumulative burdens on strategic and critical minerals, and foster long-term investment, energy security, and national market uniformity without disturbing the revenue share of States.

India’s trade agreement strategy is transitioning from expanding its network of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) to achieving fuller utilization of market access. In FY 2025-26, combined merchandise and services exports reached US$ 863.1 billion, with merchandise exports at US$ 441.8 billion, continuing with an estimated US$ 232.73 billion during April-June 2026. India's coconut sector supports roughly 30 million people, including 10 million farmers, and ranks first globally in production, accounting for 31.24 percent of the world's total. Keralam leads in cultivation area, Tamil Nadu in production, and Andhra Pradesh in productivity. Governed primarily through the Coconut Development Board (CDB) established in 1981, the sector has transitioned from traditional exports to value-added goods like virgin coconut oil, coconut milk, and activated carbon. The Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, has notified the sixth Positive Indigenisation List containing 405 strategically important items, including line replaceable units, sub-systems, sub-assemblies, spares, components, and raw materials, with an estimated business potential of Rs 3,070 crore. The list covers items for air platforms, armoured platforms, warships, missile systems, defence electronics, and ammunition for Defence Public Sector Undertakings and the Indian Coast Guard. At the 12th BRICS Environment Ministers’ Meeting held under India’s BRICS 2026 Chairship, the Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change along with other heads of delegations unveiled four knowledge compendiums prepared by the BRICS Environment Working Group. The 7th BRICS ICT Working Group Meeting in Pune focused on Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and digital governance. During the second day of the BRICS ICT Track, the Focus Group on DPI received national updates and considered India's presentation on its DPI, along with concept notes for a BRICS Digital Public Infrastructure Repository and BRICS Pilot Projects of DPI Solutions. The two-day PSB Confluence 2026, organised by the Department of Financial Services, concluded after deliberations among Public Sector Banks (PSBs), Public Financial Institutions (PFIs), government officials, and domain experts across seven themes. According to the Ministry of Finance, Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) recorded strong growth in credit delivery during FY 2025–26, with gross loans outstanding rising by 10.3% to ₹5.78 lakh crore. RRBs maintained an average Priority Sector Lending achievement of 91.7% of Adjusted Net Bank Credit, exceeding the prescribed target of 75%. Agriculture and allied activities formed 77% of total Priority Sector Lending at ₹3.78 lakh crore, while MSME sector credit stood at ₹66,978 crore. Additionally, credit extended to weaker sections reached ₹3.49 lakh crore, supporting inclusive rural economic development and financial inclusion.

The fifth edition of SEMICON India, themed “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem,” is scheduled to be held from 17th to 19th September 2026 at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, and will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways' proposal for the 135.87-km four-lane, access-controlled Guwahati–Tezpur Corridor of NH-15 in Assam. Developed under the Built-Operate-Transfer (BOT) Toll mode at a total capital cost of ₹8,970.20 crore, the project connects Baihata Chariali near Guwahati with Tezpur (excluding the Mangaldoi Bypass). It aims to boost regional connectivity, trade, and tourism across Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. The project features five major bypasses, 15 major bridges, 19 flyovers, an elephant underpass, and a 4.9 km Emergency Landing Facility on the Tezpur Bypass built in coordination with the Indian Air Force, while integrating with PM GatiShakti economic, logistics, and tourism nodes.

The Government of India has approved the Incentive Scheme for Promotion of Domestic PNG Connections, effective from 1 September 2026. The initiative aims to accelerate the expansion of active piped natural gas (PNG) connections and convert unbilled connections into working ones. Currently, there are 1.74 crore Domestic PNG connections across the country. Under the scheme, City Gas Distribution (CGD) entities will receive an additional 200 standard cubic meters (SCM) of domestically-produced, lower-priced APM gas for every incremental billed connection achieved over a threshold level. This allocation substitutes costlier imported LNG for their transport segment, lowering sourcing costs and reducing the capital expenditure payback period for CGD entities.

The Sports Authority of India (SAI) Regional Centre Mumbai held a press interaction regarding the Khelo India Revamped Scheme (2026–31). The scheme carries an outlay of ₹36,441 crore, reflecting an increase of approximately eight times the previous allocation, and aims to expand supported athletes by nearly ten times. The revamped framework encompasses nine key components—such as sports infrastructure, talent identification, leagues, training facilities, coach development, the Fit India Movement, and sports technology—to build a seamless pathway from grassroots to international podium success. It includes strategies like mapping existing infrastructure, State Action Plans, and establishing Khelo India Utkrishta Vidyalayas and Feeder Schools.
