Government of Goa Launches Konkani Large Language Model; BHASHINI Powers Real-Time Speech Translation and Showcases Language Technologies at Goa AI Tech Conclave 2026

The Government of Goa, in collaboration with the Digital India BHASHINI Division under MeitY, launched the Konkani Large Language Model (LLM) at the Goa AI Tech Conclave 2026. The initiative aims to enhance AI understanding and generation of Konkani across text and speech while accounting for its multiple scripts such as Devanagari, Roman, and Kannada. The event featured real-time speech translation demonstrations powered by BHASHINI, alongside discussions on initiatives like Bhasha Daan and a proposed Data Daan pilot to crowd-source language data and digitize regional heritage.
