In line with the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the work to establish a vibrant Civil Defence Network in the country is set to begin
The Ministry of Home Affairs, in coordination with the Indian Army, is initiating a pilot program to establish a vibrant Civil Defence Network across India. Following an announcement by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, a three-day specialized training program for Civil Defence Master Trainers is scheduled across 12 States and UTs in the first phase by November 2026. A total of 600 Master Trainers will be trained by the Indian Army, who will subsequently train 100 volunteers each, creating a cascading mechanism to reach 60,000 Civil Defence Volunteers. The training focuses on threat awareness (including modern warfare, drones, and air-raid threats), protection and emergency response (such as CBRN awareness, search and rescue, and critical infrastructure protection), and communication and coordination.
