The 14th meeting of the India-Nepal Joint Working Group (JWG) was held on 20–21 August 2026 in Dehradun. The webinar showcased two National Award-winning initiatives under the National Awards for e-Governance 2026: AgriStack by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare (Gold Award) and e-Jagriti by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs and National Informatics Centre (Silver Award). AgriStack serves as a Digital Public Infrastructure for agricultural governance, utilizing core registries like the Farmers’ Registry, Crop Sown Registry, and Geo-referenced Village Maps. Meanwhile, e-Jagriti provides a unified national digital ecosystem for consumer dispute resolution across National, State, and District Consumer Commissions by replacing legacy systems with end-to-end digital workflows.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the National Road Safety Board (NRSB) held an institutional meeting in New Delhi to review and strengthen road safety systems across the National Highway network. The meeting focused on establishing a structured framework for sustained collaboration to improve safety standards and reduce accidents. The Government of India and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have signed a $230 million loan for the Chennai Climate-Resilient Water Security and Sewerage Project. The project aims to modernise and expand Chennai’s water supply and sanitation infrastructure, improve public health, and strengthen resilience to climate change. Key interventions include constructing over 170 km of water supply and sewer pipes, upgrading water and sewer pumping stations, making Chennai the first Indian city to implement a comprehensive ring-main solution for water supply, and digitally transforming services with advanced technologies for real-time monitoring and worker safety. The initiative aligns with the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation 2.0 and the Urban Challenge Fund.

The Ministry of Commerce & Industry reported that a total of 29 Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) investments worth ₹4,895.65 crore have been reported under the revised framework up to 20 August 2026. The Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) Lucknow Zonal Unit uncovered a clandestine pan masala and tobacco manufacturing network operating across six premises in Chitrakoot and Banda districts of Uttar Pradesh. The Press Information Bureau release highlights the impact of the Swachhta Udyami Yojana (SUY) component under the NAMASTE Scheme through the beneficiary journey of Neeraj from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Previously working as a low-paid, vulnerable sanitation helper dependent on contractors, Neeraj received financial assistance in 2023 totaling ₹11,90,400 (including a loan and an upfront capital subsidy) to purchase three tractors fitted with suction machines. During 2025–26, ₹30.81 crore was released under these schemes in East Godavari district, encompassing disbursements for SC and OBC students at both pre-matric and post-matric levels. Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy Shri Shripad Naik inaugurated two grid-connected solar power projects at the Bambolim (80 kW) and Agassaim (90 kW) water pumping stations in Goa. Supported by the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, the installations are expected to generate about 2.60 lakh units of clean electricity annually. The initiative aims to reduce dependence on conventional electricity, save over ₹18 lakh annually for Goa's Drinking Water Department, and offset up to 190 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year.

Coming from a marginalized background and facing financial and social barriers as a second-generation learner, Dr. Naik received financial support of ₹16,000 per month from 2016 to 2019 under the fellowship. This assistance helped him meet expenses for his doctoral studies, books, accommodation, and fieldwork in Anthropology. The fellowship enabled him to complete his Ph.D. and subsequently secure a regular position as an Assistant Professor at Utkal University, Bhubaneswar.
