In a lethal blow against drugs by Modi Government, NCB launches ‘Operation Trident’, with 38 teams striking 38 locations simultaneously across Assam, Mizoram, and Manipur
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), in coordination with central agencies, the Enforcement Directorate (ED), and the state police forces of Assam, Mizoram, and Manipur, launched 'Operation Trident' on 23 October 2026. The multi-agency operation involved 38 teams striking 38 locations simultaneously to dismantle an international narco-cartel operating through the Death Triangle Corridor across India, Myanmar, and Bangladesh. The crackdown resulted in the arrest of 18 individuals, the revelation of ₹100 crore in hawala transactions, the freezing of 1,424 bank accounts, the attachment of properties worth ₹17.82 crore, and the seizure of 500 detonators and ₹12 lakh in cash. The initiative forms part of the Vision Document on Narcotics Control (2026-2029) aimed at transitioning from seizure-centric enforcement to network-centric financial disruption.
