This amount represents ABS contributions collected from various companies for the research and commercial utilization of agricultural biological resources such as maize, rice, pearl millet, and cotton. Because individual benefit claimers could not be identified as resources were procured through markets or traders, allocations were made proportionally based on estimated cultivation areas from official agricultural statistics. The funds are mandated for exclusive use in activities specified under Section 32(2) of the Biological Diversity Act, 2002.

The Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change interacted with start-ups and innovation companies to explore affordable, scalable, and technology-driven solutions for mitigating air pollution in Delhi-NCR under the 'Saaf Hawa mein Hissedaari, Hum Sabhi ki hai Zimmedaari' campaign. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) published a draft amendment to the Food Safety and Standards (Foods for Infant Nutrition) Regulations, 2020, proposing to prohibit the addition of sucrose and fructose in food products meant for infants up to six months of age. Published in the Gazette of India on October 16, 2026, the proposed restriction seeks to minimize early exposure to added sugars, support age-appropriate nutrition, and align with public health goals concerning childhood health. The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) reviewed compliance status, inspection findings, and enforcement actions across the National Capital Region (NCR) during the 141st meeting of its Enforcement Task Force. Between September 25 and October 9, 2026, 124 inspections were conducted across construction and demolition sites, industrial sectors, and diesel generator sets, leading to 55 reported violations and various proposed enforcement actions such as closures, sealing, and Environmental Compensation. EXERCISE KONKAN-26, the India-UK bilateral maritime exercise, concluded off Plymouth, UK, after being conducted from October 8 to 15, 2026. The Indian Navy was represented by the stealth frigate INS Trishul, while the Royal Navy deployed HMS Sutherland, a Duke-class anti-submarine warfare frigate. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, through MY Bharat and the National Service Scheme (NSS), launched Month 2 of the Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat 100 Week Sankalp Abhiyan with the nationwide observance of “Yoga evam Aatm-Suraksha Diwas” on October 16, 2026. The Technology Development Board (TDB) under the Department of Science & Technology (DST) has signed an agreement with QNu Labs Private Limited to provide financial support of ₹150 crore under the Research Development and Innovation (RDI) Fund. The total project cost is ₹300 crore and aims to develop an indigenous technology backbone for India's Quantum Secure and Sensing Networks (IQSN). The initiative seeks to advance technologies from Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 4-5 to TRL-9 across four core pillars: identity security, location integrity, network security, and time integrity, utilizing Optionally Convertible Debt for funding.
