Prime Minister expresses grief over loss of lives in stampede in Kolkata

The Prime Minister of India has expressed grief following a stampede incident in Kolkata. In response to the tragedy, an ex-gratia payment has been announced from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF). Specifically, the next of kin of each deceased individual will receive Rs. 2 lakh, and injured individuals will receive Rs. 50,000. The Prime Minister noted that the West Bengal Government is providing assistance to the affected families and the local administration is managing relief efforts.
