The Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare is launching the nationwide 'Khet Bachao Abhiyan – Rabi 2026' campaign from 22 October to 30 November 2026, initiated by Union Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan from Karnal, Haryana. The campaign focuses on promoting sustainable agriculture, improving soil health, and encouraging the judicious use of agricultural resources based on soil testing. Key objectives include promoting crop diversification through oilseed, pulse, and horticulture missions, effective utilization of paddy fallow fields, proper crop residue management, natural farming, water conservation, and integrated pest and nutrient management. It also integrates existing welfare frameworks such as the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), Kisan Credit Card (KCC) saturation, and the creation of Farmer IDs through collaborative outreach involving State departments, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), and ICAR institutes.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is hosting the 7th edition of the AgriVoltaics World Conference (AWC) 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Supported by Germany's Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUV) and organized in partnership with Conexio-PSE under the theme "Powering the Global South," this marks the first time the summit is hosted in the Global South. The Ministry of Commerce & Industry released the provisional Index of Core Industries (ICI) for September 2026, which registered a year-on-year growth rate of 7.9 per cent compared to September 2025. This is higher than the growth rate of 5.9 per cent recorded for August 2026 (Final). Iron ore, electricity, coal, refinery products, cement, and steel recorded positive year-on-year growth in September 2026, while fertilizers, natural gas, and crude oil witnessed negative growth. The cumulative growth rate of ICI for the April-September 2026 period stood at a provisional 5.1 per cent compared to 2.5 per cent in the corresponding period of the previous year. The base year for the index is 2022-23.

The Ministry of Defence has signed a contract worth approximately ₹ 770 crore with M/s Bharat Electronic Limited (BEL) in New Delhi on October 21, 2026, to procure Improved Low Level Light Weight Radars (LLLR-I) for the Indian Army. The system is designed to detect and track fighter-size targets, mini/micro drones, and prioritize aerial targets to counter Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) threats. This procurement is described as a step towards indigenization of Air Defence platforms and boosting the domestic defence manufacturing ecosystem, involving Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises.

India and New Zealand have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) concerning Electronic Origin Data Exchange of Trade in Goods. Signed between the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) and the New Zealand Customs Service (NZCS), the arrangement aims to facilitate bilateral trade under the India-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (FTA) that entered into force on 20th October 2026. The MoC enables advance electronic exchange of origin data, seeking to deepen customs cooperation, improve operational efficiency, reduce information gaps, and support the effective utilisation of trade preferences for businesses in both countries.

The Coal Controller Organisation (CCO) under the Ministry of Coal has developed the SUVIKALP Mine Repurposing Tool and the PRISM implementation model to advance scientific mine closure and sustainable repurposing of post-mining land. SUVIKALP evaluates and ranks repurposing projects based on technical, environmental, social, and economic criteria, while PRISM assists with implementation pathways. The ninth edition of the India-Brazil-South Africa Maritime Exercise (IBSAMAR IX 2026) concluded at Simon's Town, South Africa, on October 20, 2026. The ten-day trilateral exercise involved professional interactions, joint training, and maritime evolutions between the Indian, Brazilian, and South African Navies. The SARAS Mela 2026, organised under the Centre's Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM), connects rural women entrepreneurs with wider markets, buyers, and business opportunities. The Vijayawada edition in Andhra Pradesh marks the first National SARAS Mela held outside the Delhi-NCR region, featuring around 1,500 women Self-Help Group (SHG) entrepreneurs and Lakhpati Didis from 34 states and Union Territories across more than 650 stalls. The 23rd Law Commission of India is organizing a National Conference titled 'Co-operative Federalism and Law Reforms: National and State Perspectives' at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Scheduled to be inaugurated by the Vice-President of India, the event brings together State Law Commissions, jurists, legal scholars, policymakers, and members of the Bar and academia.
