Union Environment Minister Shri Bhupender Yadav chaired the 46th meeting of the Central Zoo Authority (CZA) in Coimbatore, presenting the Authority’s key achievements and strategic priorities for FY 2026‑27. The meeting examined proposals for zoo modernisation, new zoological facilities, enhanced visitor education, scientific planning and infrastructure development. Deliberations included the second cycle of Management Effectiveness Evaluation by six teams, a concept note for a CCMB‑LaCONES animal biobank network, issues on National Zoological Park modernisation, SOPs for zoo veterinarians and handlers, a draft National Wildlife Health Policy, a CSR‑fund utilisation report, and enforcement against unauthorised possession of non‑native CITES‑listed species. The Minister also released the CZA newsletter highlighting milestones in conservation breeding, wildlife health, scientific management and capacity building.

The Vice‑President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, addressed the 15th Graduation Ceremony of the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar, urging graduates to harness science and innovation for nation‑building, uphold integrity, and pursue interdisciplinary solutions. He highlighted NISER’s role in strengthening the knowledge economy, technological advancement, national security and sustainable development, and cited India’s achievements in space missions, vaccine development, digital infrastructure and renewable energy as evidence of the country’s growing scientific stature. He also paid tribute to Dr. Homi Bhabha, noting the resilience of India’s atomic research after his demise.

The Department of Financial Services (DFS) received over 2.50 lakh grievances annually and has been among the top‑10 ministries/departments in the Grievance Redressal Assessment & Index (GRAI) since November 2025. In May 2026, the Insurance Division secured the 2nd position in the Group A category (≥500 grievances) while the Banking Division ranked 6th. Since 7 January 2024, the DFS Secretary has personally reviewed 20 randomly selected grievances with complainants and senior officials. DFS also conducted workshops with RBI, IRDAI, PFRDA and public sector banks on an ‘Effective Grievance Redressal Framework’ to enhance transparency and public trust.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, addressing the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026 virtually, highlighted Tripura’s strategic position as a gateway to Southeast Asia under the Act East Policy. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) released results of an Independent Drive Test (IDT) carried out on 1‑2 June and 4 June 2026 across Barmer, Balotra and Pachpadra (Rajasthan LSA). The test measured QoS parameters – coverage gap, call drop rate, call‑silence instances, and data download/upload throughput – for Airtel, BSNL, RJIL and VIL on 2G‑5G networks. Coverage gaps were highest for BSNL (6332/21622 samples) and VIL (4378/27385). Dropped calls were recorded for BSNL (8/183), RJIL (2/260) and VIL (7/251). Average download speeds ranged from 8.11 Mbps (BSNL) to 228.12 Mbps (RJIL); upload speeds ranged from 3.60 Mbps (BSNL) to 24.57 Mbps (Airtel). The findings have been shared with the service providers for corrective action.

On 9 July 2026, Lieutenant General Virendra Vats, Director General of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), visited the All India Nau Sainik Camp 2026 at INS Shivaji, Lonavala, accompanied by Major General Vivek Tyagi. The DG NCC inspected accommodation, training facilities and observed competitions including DK Whaler boat pulling, ship‑modelling, semaphore signalling and 0.22 rifle shooting, which test naval proficiency, endurance and technical seamanship. The camp hosted 612 NCC naval cadets (including 204 girl cadets) and 26 Associated NCC officers. Emphasising future security needs, the DG urged cadets to adopt drone technology and cyber awareness, linking training to the vision of a self‑reliant India by 2047.

The Indian Navy’s sail training ship INS Sudarshini, part of the 10‑month Lokayan 2026 trans‑oceanic expedition, completed its port call in New York on 8 July 2026. During the visit the ship participated in the Parade of Sail at the International Naval Review 250, hosted over 1,000 visitors, and entertained senior diplomats including the Consul General of India and the Indian Ambassador to the UN. The National Film Development Corporation–National Film Archive of India (NFDC–NFAI) has restored the Malayalam classic Kireedam (1989) in 4K resolution with Dolby Atmos sound. The restoration relied on a 35 mm release print preserved by the Archive for over 30 years, as the original camera negative had deteriorated. High‑resolution scanning, digital image restoration, colour grading and sound remastering were overseen by cinematographer S. Kumar and director Siby Malayil, with the theatrical version completed by Prasad Corporation and Hy Studioz. The restored film will release on 10 July 2026 in India and overseas, and had its world premiere at the 55th International Film Festival of India. The effort underscores NFDC–NFAI’s commitment under the National Film Heritage Mission to preserve India’s audiovisual heritage.

The Vice‑President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, will virtually inaugurate two events at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS) in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh: a permanent exhibition titled “Journey of Vande Mataram” and an international seminar on “Sardar Patel’s Vision: Integration, Unification and Federalism.” The inauguration will be conducted through video‑conferencing because inclement weather prevented the Vice‑President from travelling to Shimla as originally planned.

The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) Mumbai Region inaugurated its three‑day Annual Principals’ Conference in Pune on 9 July 2026, running through 11 July 2026. The Prime Minister's Office issued a statement on 9 July 2026 expressing deep grief over a mishap in Karwar, Uttara Kannada district, Karnataka. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi conveyed his thoughts to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
