The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship reports that the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), launched in 2016 and continued as NAPS‑2 from 2022‑23, has engaged 47,50,432 apprentices across more than 45 sectors up to 30 June 2026. The Ministry of Coal is executing 139 FMC projects with a total capacity of 1,319 MTPA to be completed by FY 2029‑30; 72 projects (≈589 MTPA) are already commissioned while 67 are in various stages of implementation. Rail infrastructure expansion includes 5 of 8 railway projects commissioned, with the remaining three slated for FY 2028, and 33 critical projects identified for future coal evacuation. An Integrated Coal Logistics Plan, coordinated with the Ministries of Railways, Power and Road & Transport & Ports, seeks to raise rail‑share of coal transport to 75 % by FY 2030, promote coastal shipping and inland waterways, and cut logistics costs. The plan also addresses bottlenecks such as inadequate rail capacity, clearance delays, operational constraints, road congestion, and limited alternate‑mode infrastructure, while mechanised handling has reduced loading times and improved wagon utilisation.

The Office of Economic Adviser, DPIIT, has released a revised Index of Core Industries (ICI) series with base year 2022‑23, replacing the earlier 2011‑12 series. The new series, now comprising nine core industries (adding iron ore), uses gross production data for steel and retains only raw coal to avoid double counting. A linking factor of 1.47 connects the old and new series. Provisional data for June 2026 show the ICI grew 5.0 % YoY, driven mainly by iron ore (43.9 %) and electricity (9.8 %). Cumulative growth for April‑June 2026 was 3.6 % YoY. The revised series and its data are available on the OEA portal.

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, through the Directorate General of Training, is upgrading Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) under schemes such as the Model ITI upgradation and the STRIVE scheme. Under STRIVE, Rs 25.88 crore was allotted to Andhra Pradesh for 15 ITIs. A 2024 tracer study reported 78.8 % satisfaction with ITI infrastructure. Over the last five years, 21 CTS courses, 15 short‑term courses, 17 Flexi‑MoU courses and one CITS course were approved by the NCVET, and 40 CTS courses were revised. Additionally, 32 “New Age” courses (e.g., Green Hydrogen Production Technician, IoT Technician) were introduced, raising enrolment from 8,611 (2022‑23) to 42,338 (2025‑26). The Ministry of Culture’s Kala Sanskriti Vikas Yojana (KSVY) is a Central Sector Scheme that provides financial assistance to eligible cultural organisations and individual artists, including tribal and rural performers, across India. Funds are released from the Consolidated Fund of India through the annual budget. The scheme comprises multiple components such as the Guru‑Shishya Parampara Repertory Grant, Financial Assistance for Promotion of Art and Culture (including grants for organisations with national presence, Cultural Function & Production, Himalayan heritage, Buddhist/Tibetan culture, building grants for studios, and domestic festivals), Tagore Cultural Complexes, scholarships and fellowships for artists, and veteran‑artist assistance. The Government also promotes cultural heritage through seven Zonal Cultural Centres that receive annual grant‑in‑aid.

The PIB release states that water and sanitation are State subjects and that urban flood management—including cleaning and desilting of drains—is the responsibility of State Governments and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs). The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has taken suo motu action against 41 restaurants nationwide for automatically levying service charge without consumers’ explicit consent, based on complaints filed through the National Consumer Helpline. Investigations found the practice breached the Guidelines to Prevent Unfair Trade Practices (issued 4 July 2022) and amounted to an unfair trade practice under Section 2(47) of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has received Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approval to upgrade the Khagaria‑Purnea stretch of NH‑31 and NH‑231 in Bihar to a four‑lane highway at a cost of Rs. 3936.05 crore. The project aims to cut travel time from about 3.5‑4 hours to 1.5‑2 hours, incorporate flood‑resilient engineering (improved geometry, stronger pavement, modern drainage) and alleviate congestion in Khagaria, Bhagalpur, Katihar and Purnea districts. It will link five PM Gati Shakti economic nodes (one textile cluster, two mega food parks, two fishing/seafood parks) and 11 logistics nodes (four rail stations, one airport, four national highways, two state highways), thereby enhancing multimodal connectivity for Bihar’s banana and makhana producers and strengthening links with West Bengal and Jharkhand.

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah performed the Bhoomi Pujan for the Amul Bengal Dairy Project in Kolkata, marking the inauguration of the world’s largest curd manufacturing plant. The plant, built on 30 acres of land provided free by West Bengal Chief Minister Shri Suvendu Adhikari, will initially process 10 lakh litres of milk daily, benefiting about 1.20 lakh small milk producers and livestock rearers. The project, with an investment of roughly Rs 700 crore, aims to expand to a capacity of 30 lakh litres per day, create cooperative warehouses, and establish a sex‑sorted semen facility for breed improvement. The Indian Air Force will commence Exercise Pitch Black 2026 at the Royal Australian Air Force Base Darwin from 20 July to 7 August 2026.
