The fifth edition of SEMICON India 2026 was held at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi under the theme 'Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem'. The National Single Window System (NSWS) is a digital platform implemented by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) to guide investors in identifying and applying for business approvals. Launched on September 22, 2021, and completing five years of operation, the portal integrates approvals across Central Ministries, State Governments, and regulatory bodies through a single interface. Key functionalities include the Know Your Approvals (KYA) module, a Common Registration Form, an Applicant Dashboard, a centralized Document Repository, and an E-Communication Module. By streamlining submissions, reducing duplication, and utilizing the Permanent Account Number (PAN) as a single business ID, NSWS supports the ease of doing business and fosters a transparent investment ecosystem in India.

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) hosted its third Investors’ Roundtable in Bengaluru for India’s first integrated Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. Chaired by the Union Minister of Communications and the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, the initiative is a collaborative effort featuring 100% central funding support of ₹493 crore for Phase-I and state incentives including approximately 170 acres of land provided free of cost. A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) with 51% equity from the Madhya Pradesh government and 49% from the DoT has been formed. The TMZ functions as a plug-and-play industrial cluster aimed at boosting domestic value addition, research and development, intellectual property creation, and manufacturing in telecom and electronics sectors.

The Ministry of Coal has released data highlighting the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) performance of Coal India Limited (CIL) and its evolution from community welfare to inclusive growth. CIL spent Rs. 7,276 crore on CSR against a statutory requirement of Rs. 5,795 crore from FY 2014-15 to FY 2025-26, with annual expenditures now reaching nearly Rs. 1,000 crore. CIL focuses over 80% of its CSR expenditure within a 25 km radius of its mines, prioritizing Project Affected Areas. Its interventions span national missions, healthcare, education, skilling, and sports. CIL's initiatives are governed by a structured framework involving Annual Action Plans, third-party impact assessments, and audit oversight. Recently, the Ministry of Coal launched a sector-wide CSR framework to bring greater consistency and accountability across coal PSUs.

The 9th Molecular Virology Meeting (MVM 2026) concluded at the BRIC–National Institute of Immunology (BRIC–NII), New Delhi, bringing together about 200 clinicians, researchers, and students to discuss viral biology, vaccines, therapeutics, diagnostics, and public-health preparedness. The bilateral air exercise 'Veer Guardian 2026' between the Indian Air Force (IAF) and Japan Air Self Defense Force (JASDF) concluded at Air Force Station Jodhpur on 22 September 2026. The 14-day exercise featured advanced flying missions, including within visual range combat and coordinated multi-aircraft missions. The IAF deployed Su-30 MKI, Rafale, and indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas, while the JASDF participated with F-2A fighter aircraft. The event included ground interactions, Subject Matter Expert Exchanges, and operational discussions, serving to enhance interoperability, share best practices, and strengthen the strategic defence partnership between India and Japan.

A delegation from the European Parliament's Committee on Industry, Research & Energy (ITRE) met with Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh to discuss bilateral cooperation. The talks focused on the effective implementation of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA), science, technology, research, and critical emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, quantum technologies, semiconductors, and advanced research. ECGC Ltd. held its 68th Annual General Meeting in Mumbai, highlighting its performance for FY 2025-26. The company supported a record ₹9.70 lakh crore of exports, covering 25% of India's merchandise exports. It achieved a gross premium of ₹1,459.11 crore and paid claims amounting to ₹811.02 crore. The company reported a Profit Before Tax of ₹1,686.61 crore, a Profit After Tax of ₹1,277.12 crore, and declared a dividend of ₹390.42 crore. ECGC instituted several measures to support exporters amid external challenges, including enhanced bank covers, collateral-free credit guidelines, country risk rating adjustments, and the introduction of the Export Factoring Facility in Foreign Currency at GIFT City. Additionally, ECGC was designated as the nodal agency for the RELIEF intervention under the Export Promotion Mission.

On the occasion of World Rhino Day, the Prime Minister celebrated the greater one-horned rhinoceros and highlighted India's conservation milestones. He noted that Assam accounts for nearly 80 percent of the global rhino population, praised anti-poaching efforts in Kaziranga, and mentioned the return or protection of rhinos in Bihar, West Bengal, and Dudhwa in Uttar Pradesh. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India organized a Statutory Full Commission meeting in New Delhi involving representatives from all seven deemed member commissions. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has launched the Challenge Mode for Aerodrome Development and signed MoUs with 21 States and Union Territories for the next phase of the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme. The modified UDAN framework is built on four pillars: passenger affordability, operational sustainability, a transparent Challenge Mode framework, and the promotion of indigenous manufacturing for Made-in-India civil aircraft. Under the Challenge Mode portal, State Governments and UT Administrations can proactively nominate airstrips and helipads for development. Additionally, the scheme document for the next phase of UDAN route bidding was released to connect unserved and underserved regions, targeting 120 new destinations and 4 crore more passengers over the next ten years.

Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel Shri H.D. Kumaraswamy held discussions with a delegation from the European Parliament's Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) in New Delhi. The talks focused on strengthening India-EU cooperation in industrial development, clean energy, electric mobility, and industrial decarbonisation. The Union Home Minister inaugurated the 3rd National Conference of Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Heads of States/UTs in New Delhi. The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, via its Economic Inclusion Division, is implementing economic inclusion and rehabilitation measures for marginalised groups. Key initiatives include the Venture Capital Fund for Scheduled Castes (VCF-SC), which has a corpus of Rs 750 crore and has approved Rs 613.02 crore for 145 companies as of May 2026. The Ambedkar Social Innovation and Incubation Mission (ASIIM) under VCF-SC supports young SC researchers with funds up to Rs 30 lakh. Additionally, the Venture Capital Fund for Backward Classes (VCF-BC) with a corpus of Rs 200 crore has approved Rs 142.88 crore for 31 companies. The India Cine Hub (ICH) is a digital single-window portal managed by the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC) to simplify film permits, visa processing, and vendor access for domestic and global creators. It consolidates state approvals, police clearances, and co-production applications into one central platform to improve the ease of doing business in the entertainment sector. The platform is also expanding to support live event permissions via the Live Events Development Cell. The Seventh High-Level Meeting of the OPEC-India Energy Dialogue was held on 22nd September 2026 in New Delhi, co-chaired by India’s Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, and OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al Ghais. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released the Telecom Consumer Protection (Thirteenth Amendment) Regulations, 2026. The regulation addresses limitations in the availability of Voice-and-SMS-only Special Tariff Vouchers (STVs) offered by telecom service providers, which previously lacked affordable shorter-duration choices for low-income consumers. Following stakeholder consultations and an Open House Discussion, TRAI finalized the regulation to mandate Voice-and-SMS-only STVs with appropriate tariff reductions for validities of thirty days and less, monthly recurring validities, and at least one STV with longer validity. The framework aims to provide consumers preferring unbundled plans with more flexible and affordable options.

The Ministry of Coal highlights the transformation of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) since 2014, detailing expansions in coal production, infrastructure, technology, and community development. CCL increased its production from 50.0 Million Tonnes in FY 2013-14 to 87.5 MT in FY 2024-25. Key developments include mega mine projects, rail evacuation corridors like Tori-Shivpur, Coal Handling Plants, and First Mile Connectivity projects.
