Over this period, PM-JDY accounts have expanded significantly from 14.72 crore in 2015 to 59.09 crore as of August 19, 2026, with 32.92 crore female beneficiaries. Total deposits have surged to ₹3,16,514 crore, and 41.29 crore RuPay debit cards have been issued. The scheme provides basic savings accounts with no minimum balance requirement, accident insurance cover, overdraft facilities, and access to various social security and direct benefit transfer schemes, thereby driving broad-based economic participation and poverty reduction.

Data shows that 55.7% to 56% of account holders are women, and 77.8% to 78% of accounts are located in rural and semi-urban areas. Serving as the core of the Jan-Dhan-Aadhaar-Mobile (JAM) trinity, the scheme enables direct and transparent delivery of welfare benefits to the underprivileged.

A high-level delegation comprising representatives from the African Union Commission, six African nations (Ethiopia, Malawi, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, and Zambia), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) visited the Department of Land Resources in New Delhi to study India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) in land governance. The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has released a concept paper titled "Methodological Approach for Compilation of Experimental Monetary Asset Accounts of Marine Fish Resources." Aligned with the UN System of Environmental-Economic Accounting (SEEA) Central Framework, the paper extends MoSPI's EnviStats India series by exploring the methodological approach for developing experimental monetary asset accounts for marine fish resources. The publication highlights India's fisheries sector, assesses data availability, outlines an accounting framework drawing on OECD (2025) guidelines, and demonstrates step-by-step compilation using available data while noting gaps. MoSPI has issued the experimental paper as an open invitation for feedback to finalize a standardized methodology.

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj has launched 'DAANVEER', a people-led computer crowdsourcing initiative designed to strengthen digital infrastructure and governance at the grassroots level in Gram Panchayats. Operating through the Meri Panchayat mobile application, the initiative enables individuals, organizations, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) partners to voluntarily donate desktop computers directly to verified Gram Panchayats. The platform integrates with DigiHaat, an Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC)-enabled digital marketplace, simplifying the procurement and delivery process. Donors can select a Panchayat, choose a standardized computer bundle, make digital payments, and track orders in real time. Once the Gram Panchayat Secretary acknowledges receipt and installs the equipment, donors receive a digitally generated Certificate of Appreciation.

India participated in the Russian-Indian Roundtable Meeting on Snow Leopard Study and Conservation held in Moscow, Russia, on August 26, 2026. Organized under a Partnership Agreement signed in December 2025 between the Interregional Association 'Irbis' and the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA), the meeting aimed to foster international cooperation in snow leopard research and conservation. The Raksha Mantri and the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister performed the Bhoomi Pujan for the T-Series Tanks Overhaul Project at the Vehicle Factory in Jabalpur, a unit of Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL). The Ministry of Defence announced the delivery of 'Samarthak', the first indigenous Multi-Purpose Vessel (MPV) of the Indian Navy, built by Larsen & Toubro Ltd. at Kattupalli. The Government has undertaken calibrated market interventions to ensure the adequate availability of onions at affordable prices through buffer stocks sold at ₹35 per kg in Delhi-NCR. To address logistics and moderate price pressures, the Kanda Express initiative has been deployed to move buffer onions from producing regions to consumption centres via rail and road networks, expanding from 14 railway rakes transporting nearly 12,000 MT in 2024-25 to 86 rakes transporting around 88,000 MT in 2025-26. This PIB release outlines the livelihood transformation of a 25-year-old sanitation worker, Himanshu, through financial assistance provided under the Swachhta Udyami Yojana (SUY) component of the NAMASTE Scheme. The assistance, disbursed in August 2025, supported the procurement of a tractor-cum-suction machine with a total project cost of Rs 10,70,400, including a loan and an upfront capital subsidy.
