The Ministry of Finance is organizing a nationwide saturation campaign for Financial Inclusion schemes and key interventions from 21st October 2026 to 31st December 2026. Conducted by the Department of Financial Services, the campaign covers 2.70 lakh Gram Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies. Banks will conduct camps for various activities including enrolments under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, and Atal Pension Yojana, opening Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana accounts, Aadhaar seeding, Re-KYC, generating C-KYC IDs, updating nominations, conducting awareness sessions on digital frauds and unclaimed financial assets, sourcing Kisan Credit Card applications for PM-Kisan beneficiaries, and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna enrolments.

Shri Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Power, held a virtual bilateral meeting with H.E. Eng. Nasser Al-Qahtani, Assistant Minister of Energy for Electricity Affairs, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The meeting reviewed the progress of the India–Saudi Arabia Electrical Interconnection initiative and explored avenues for strengthening bilateral energy cooperation. Both sides discussed technical collaboration, knowledge sharing, and best practices. The Saudi Arabian side expressed interest in cooperation concerning Extra High Voltage (EHV) transmission systems, renewable energy grid integration challenges, power requirements of emerging data centres, and updating grid codes.

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) organized nationwide interactive sessions through its AYUSH Department to promote standardisation, quality control, safety, and international acceptance in Ayurveda, Yoga, and Sowa-Rigpa. Events included 'PRAGATI 2026' held in Belagavi, Karnataka, focusing on standardisation in Ayurveda and Yoga, and a brainstorming session alongside the 5th Sowa-Rigpa Sectional Committee meeting at the National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa in Leh, Ladakh. The sessions brought together over 600 experts, researchers, and practitioners to deliberate on quality assurance, raw material safety, uniform educational benchmarks, intellectual property rights, and consumer trust.

The Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) and the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance doctoral research in earth system sciences. Under the agreement, all ten premier research institutes under MoES have been recognized as AcSIR Associated Research Institutes (AcSIR-ARIs). The partnership integrates MoES research facilities and expertise with AcSIR's academic framework to offer doctoral programs across domains such as atmospheric, ocean, polar sciences, and seismology. AcSIR will award the doctoral degrees while students conduct research at MoES institutes under the supervision of MoES scientists recognized as AcSIR faculty.

Union Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar chaired a high-level meeting to review the functioning of various divisions, bureaus, corporations, and institutions under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The meeting focused on strengthening welfare scheme implementation, enhancing Centre-State and inter-departmental coordination, achieving saturation of eligible beneficiaries, and improving last-mile service delivery. The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment highlights a success story under the Swachhta Udyami Yojana (SUY) of the NAMASTE scheme, detailing how four sanitation workers in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, transitioned into mechanised service entrepreneurs. Facing high costs for modern equipment individually, the beneficiaries attended an awareness camp organised by the Nellore Municipal Corporation. Through a total project cost of Rs 35.85 lakh—comprising a Rs 21.89 lakh bank loan and a Rs 13.96 lakh capital subsidy—they procured a Mini Jetting Machine. The Nellore Municipal Corporation engaged their equipment on a long-term basis with monthly hiring charges, enabling each member to earn approximately Rs 37,000 per month after operational expenses, thereby enhancing their livelihoods, financial independence, and occupational safety.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) conducted an intelligence-led operation in Uttar Pradesh on 17–18 October 2026, seizing 591.3 kg of ganja (cannabis) smuggled from Nepal. Acting on specific inputs, DRI officers intercepted a suspect truck between Gorakhpur and Kushinagar. A meticulous search uncovered 81 packets of ganja hidden inside two specially engineered concealed cavities located above the hood and behind the driver’s seat. The contraband and the vehicle were seized under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

India is set to host the 61st Meeting of the International Committee of Legal Metrology (CIML) for the first time in New Delhi from 26 to 28 October 2026. Organised by the Department of Consumer Affairs in association with the International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML), the event will bring together over 100 international delegates and legal metrology experts. The programme features an international seminar on "Evolutions in Legal Metrology" and an OIML Strategy Workshop to deliberate on emerging technologies, digitalisation, regulatory modernization, international harmonisation of measurement standards, fair trade, and consumer protection.

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has launched the Implementation Phase of Special Campaign 6 following the completion of its Preparatory Phase on Swachh Bharat Diwas. Coordinated nationally by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), the campaign runs until October 31, 2026. It focuses on strengthening Swachhata, efficient disposal of pendencies including VIP references and public grievances, comprehensive records management, and the proper collection, segregation, and disposal of e-waste in accordance with the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022. The initiative also emphasizes digital governance, workspace optimization, and capacity building via the iGOT Karmayogi portal.

The Ministry of Women and Child Development, including its autonomous and statutory bodies, initiated efforts under Special Campaign 6.0 from October 2 to October 31, 2026, aimed at improving Swachhata and disposing of pending references. As part of adopting best practices during the campaign, the Ministry conducted an Artificial Intelligence Workshop for senior officers at the level of Under Secretary and above on October 17, 2026. Facilitated by the National e-Governance Division, the hands-on workshop engaged 42 participants, including the Secretary and other senior officials, covering topics such as AI tools for office productivity, prompt engineering, and ethical and responsible use of AI.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) intercepted a truck along the Champhai–Aizawl Road at Tuirial village in Mizoram, seizing 43,20,000 sticks of foreign-origin 'Patron' brand cigarettes valued at Rs. 8.64 crore. One person was arrested. Preliminary investigations indicate the cigarettes were smuggled from Myanmar through the Zokhawthar sector of the Mizoram–Myanmar border. The seized cigarette packets lacked the mandatory pictorial and health warnings required under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) Act, 2003. The operation highlights enforcement actions against cross-border smuggling networks in India's North-Eastern region.

Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports organised the fifth week of the 100 Weeks Campaign under the Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Abhiyan. Centred around the themes “Yoga & Meditation for Nasha Mukt Yuva” and “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Par Charcha” (Neighbourhood Youth Parliament), the initiative spanned 36 States and Union Territories with 1,174 programmes. The events engaged 3,43,288 youth and citizens through activities like pledge-taking, yoga and meditation sessions, and awareness discussions. The campaign was conducted in collaboration with various spiritual and industry organisations to promote substance abuse prevention and healthy lifestyles.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), along with its CPSEs and attached offices, successfully completed the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 Campaign, held from 17th September to 2nd October, 2026. The campaign commenced with a pledge-taking ceremony administered by the Secretary (PNG) at Kartavya Bhawan-3, New Delhi, and featured regular progress reviews. Key achievements reported under the campaign include the transformation of 9,845 Cleanliness Target Units (CTUs), cleaning of 937 public spaces, 143 water body cleanliness drives, 543 mohalla cleanliness drives, engagement of 18,700 schoolchildren through Swachh Pathshala activities, organisation of 234 Safai Mitra Suraksha Evam Samman Shivirs for sanitation workers including 276 preventive health check-ups and distribution of 3,518 PPE kits, various Jan Bhagidari initiatives, and waste-to-wealth activities under Swachhata Se Samriddhi.

The Department of Land Resources is implementing Special Campaign 6, focusing on institutionalizing Swachhata, improving records management, and expediting pending matters under the guidance of Secretary (LR). Progress includes completing 5 out of 12 identified cleanliness activities, disposing of 90% of targeted public grievances, and reviewing 945 out of 1,280 physical files along with 242 out of 501 e-files. Updates are tracked on the SCDPM Portal of the DARPG. Additionally, employee engagement initiatives such as debates, yoga sessions, felicitations of housekeeping staff, Shramdaan activities, Swachhata Pakhwada observance, and plantation efforts under 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' were organized.

The Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), Nagpur, concluded its month-long Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2026 campaign on October 17, following its launch on September 17. Operating under the theme "Swachhata Mein Sahbhag, Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat," the campaign involved headquarters, zonal offices, regional offices, laboratories, and mines. Activities included cleanliness drives, waste management initiatives, e-waste collection, Waste-to-Art activities, health check-up camps for Safai Mitras, plantation drives under "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam," and community outreach programmes such as Swachh Paathshala and school competitions. The concluding event featured the felicitation of Safai Mitras and schoolchildren.

The CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR) successfully organised a two-week skill training programme on library automation, digitisation, and artificial intelligence for libraries from 5–16 October 2026 under the CSIR Integrated Skill Initiative (Phase III). The program aimed to strengthen the technical competencies of 16 participants, including library professionals, academicians, and researchers. It featured experiential learning through expert lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on sessions on Koha Integrated Library Management System, DSpace digital repository software, AI applications, and text similarity checking tools like iThenticate.

The Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh launched the revamped websites of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Department of Defence (DoD) on October 19, 2026. The new platforms comply with the Digital Brand Identity Manual (DBIM) 3.0 and the Guidelines for Indian Government Websites (GIGW) 3.0. Designed to be accessible and user-friendly, the websites provide information on MoD policies, initiatives, activities, notifications, and defence updates. Content is made available in 22 Indian official languages to enhance outreach and accessibility. This initiative supports the Government's Digital India and e-Governance vision to promote transparency, efficiency, and citizen-centric information delivery.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) conducted coordinated intelligence-led operations resulting in the seizure of over seven kilograms of amphetamine and three kilograms of cocaine, alongside three arrests. Interceptions took place at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, near Nagpur, and at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. The contraband was found concealed in passenger baggage, a backpack hidden inside a ladies' suit, and luggage arriving from Ghana. The substances were seized under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) dismantled an organised gold smuggling syndicate operating through the airports in Ahmedabad and Surat, resulting in three arrests under the Customs Act, 1962. Coordinated searches conducted over a 42-hour period uncovered a network involving foreign-origin gold smuggling via concealed methods such as rhodium-coated wires, inner linings of trolley bags, and gold paste. The operation tracked the illicit supply chain from airport hand-overs to an illegal gold-melting facility in Vadodara and subsequent sale through a jewellery outlet in Ahmedabad. Authorities seized gold and recovered evidence related to dealings involving approximately 13 kg of foreign-origin gold valued at around Rs. 19.41 crore, linked to a Dubai-based financier.

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh reviewed the mid-campaign progress of Special Swachhata Campaign 6.0, noting that it surpassed the previous Special Campaign 5.0 in cleanliness campaign sites, revenue from scrap disposal, and office space freed as of October 19, 2026. Implemented from October 2 to October 31, 2026, the campaign covers physical and electronic file reviews, public grievance clearance, e-waste management, and scrap disposal across Ministries, Departments, and field offices. Major contributors noted include the Department of School Education and Literacy for site numbers and the Ministry of Railways for scrap revenue.
