India and Saudi Arabia Discuss the bilateral Electrical Interconnection Initiative

Shri Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Power, held a virtual bilateral meeting with H.E. Eng. Nasser Al-Qahtani, Assistant Minister of Energy for Electricity Affairs, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The meeting reviewed the progress of the India–Saudi Arabia Electrical Interconnection initiative and explored avenues for strengthening bilateral energy cooperation. Both sides discussed technical collaboration, knowledge sharing, and best practices. The Saudi Arabian side expressed interest in cooperation concerning Extra High Voltage (EHV) transmission systems, renewable energy grid integration challenges, power requirements of emerging data centres, and updating grid codes.
