Over the past decade, operational airports in India increased from 74 in 2014 to 166, with UDAN operationalising 687 regional routes, 95 aerodromes, and facilitating travel for 1.72 crore passengers. The next phase, designated as the Modified UDAN Scheme, was launched on July 4, 2026, with an outlay of Rs 28,840 crore for FY 2026-27 to FY 2035-36. The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is organizing an eight-day Shilp Samagam Mela 2026 in Guwahati, Assam, from October until October 28. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced that the India–New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (FTA) will officially enter into force on 20th October 2026. The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) initiated regulatory action against the unauthorized online listing, hosting, advertising, and facilitation of the sale of regulated and hazardous explosive substances such as Ammonium Nitrate, Gunpowder, Picric Acid, and PETN on digital platforms. Operating under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020, and the Explosives Act, 1884, the CCPA intervened to ensure consumer safety and public security. The 5th edition of the India-Australia Joint Military Exercise AUSTRAHIND 2026 commenced at the Foreign Training Node in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) and the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance doctoral research in earth system sciences. Under the agreement, all ten premier research institutes under MoES have been recognized as AcSIR Associated Research Institutes (AcSIR-ARIs). The partnership integrates MoES research facilities and expertise with AcSIR's academic framework to offer doctoral programs across domains such as atmospheric, ocean, polar sciences, and seismology.
