The process combines optimized photoautotrophic cultivation with a green, solvent‑free extraction and single‑step purification to yield high‑purity, food‑grade blue pigment. The initiative aims to create a domestic value‑chain for natural pigments, reduce dependence on imported colourants, and promote sustainable, bio‑based manufacturing aligned with the Government’s bio‑economy and Aatmanirbhar Bharat goals.

The Ministry of Power has released the Draft Corporate Average Fuel Economy 2027 Norms (CAFE‑III) for stakeholder consultation. The draft norms target M1‑category passenger vehicles that will be manufactured or imported for sale in India during the fiscal years 2027‑28 to 2031‑32. Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh announced the launch of India’s first Engineering Biology graduation course, positioning it as a foundational discipline for the next phase of the country’s bioeconomy. The National Highways Infra Trust (NHIT), an infrastructure investment trust (InvIT) sponsored by NHAI, has appointed General Management Consultants (GMCs) to professionalise operations and maintenance (O&M) of its National Highway assets. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) released findings of an Independent Drive Test (IDT) carried out in Uttara Kannada district, Karnataka LSA, during 18‑21 May 2026. The Ministry of Railways has approved the doubling of the 14‑km Tadali‑Ghugus single‑line section in Maharashtra at a cost of ₹228 crore. The section lies on the Wardha‑Balharshah stretch of the Delhi–Chennai High‑Density Network and is primarily freight‑oriented, carrying commodities such as coal, iron ore, gypsum, petroleum products, sand and laterite ash. The project, sanctioned under umbrella works for line‑capacity enhancement, is expected to add about 4.5 million tonnes per annum of freight traffic, thereby improving operational efficiency and supporting regional economic growth.
