The Viksit Bharat - Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) Act, 2025 came into force on July 1, 2026, replacing Mahatma Gandhi NREGA. Aligned with Viksit Bharat @2047, the Act guarantees 125 days of wage employment per financial year for rural households volunteering for unskilled manual work. It emphasizes a Whole-of-Government approach through Viksit Gram Panchayat Plans (VGPPs)—a decentralized framework focusing on water security, core rural infrastructure, livelihood infrastructure, and extreme weather mitigation. The Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change handed over India’s first PRAMAAN certificates under the Indian Forest and Wood Certification Scheme (IFWCS) in New Delhi. Certificates were awarded to the Andhra Pradesh Forest Development Corporation for 33,000 hectares of plantations and to a farmer associated with the Odisha Bamboo Development Agency. The operating agency for the scheme is the Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal. PRAMAAN (Programme for Recognition and Accreditation of sustainable Management practices for Agroforestry And Natural forestry resources) acts as a framework for certifying forests, wood, and non-timber forest products. It aims to help Indian producers and exporters meet global deforestation-free timber sourcing regulations, while supporting rural livelihoods and sustainable forest management.

The Government of India has prepared a three-year roadmap titled 'Vision Document 2026-2029' to achieve a drug-free India by 2029, supporting the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047. Launched by the Union Home Minister, the roadmap is built upon four pillars: intelligence and operation-based enforcement, precursor and synthetic drugs control, demand and harm reduction, and capacity building and coordination, following a 'Detect, Disrupt and Destroy' mantra. It includes 25 components and over 200 action points, targeting a five-fold expansion in treatment and rehabilitation facilities, a people's movement reaching 50 crore people, and 100% central sector funding for anti-narcotics infrastructure.

The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to institutionalize a data-sharing mechanism for developing and strengthening the Statistical Business Register (SBR). The MoU facilitates a structured framework to share unit-wise data from the Udyam Registration ecosystem with MoSPI via a two-way API. This aims to improve the coverage, consistency, and reliability of business information used for statistical purposes, supporting the preparation of the National Statistical Business Register (NSBR) and serving as foundational infrastructure for the economic statistics system.

The Ministry of Labour & Employment, in collaboration with FICCI and Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co., organised a "Shram Samvad" district-level capacity building and awareness programme on Labour Codes at Okhla Industrial Estate, New Delhi. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) unveiled five new initiatives during the 'Aadhaar Samvaad' conference in Kolkata on its 17th Aadhaar Day. The initiatives include Face Authentication for the Electronic Public Distribution System (ePDS) developed with the Department of Food and Public Distribution and NIC, the SWIK Portal 2.0 for processing Aadhaar authentication approvals under good governance frameworks, the Sub-AUA/Sub-KUA (LITE) Framework for low-volume entities, a Token Management System for UIDAI offices, and a revamped UIDAI website featuring BHASHINI integration across 13 languages, enhanced accessibility for persons with disabilities, and a new Career Portal.

India and the Republic of Korea held their 10th Joint Committee Meeting on Defence Industries and Logistics Cooperation in New Delhi on September 29, 2026. At the YouTube Impact Summit 2026, Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting Dr. L. Murugan highlighted the growth of India's creator economy and its contribution to employment and GDP. According to the YouTube Impact Report unveiled at the event, YouTube's ecosystem contributed over ₹18,000 crore to India's GDP in 2025 and supported over 9.6 lakh full-time-equivalent jobs, with more than 18,000 Indian channels exceeding one million subscribers. The Technology Development Board (TDB) under the Department of Science & Technology has signed an agreement with M/s Multi Nano Sense Technologies Private Limited to provide ₹37.51 crore in financial support through Optionally Convertible Debt for developing an indigenous multi-gas sensing platform. The total approved project cost is ₹75.02 crore. The project involves developing a Platform MEMS + AFE SoC Multi-Gas Sensor to advance the technology from Technology Readiness Level 4 to Technology Readiness Level 9. The technology aims to enable compact, reliable, and scalable multi-gas sensing for industrial safety, hydrogen infrastructure, and energy systems.

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is organising the SafaiMitra Suraksha Evam Samman Shivir under the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign. Held under the theme 'Samman Safai Mitron Ka, Sankalp Swachh Bharat Ka', the hybrid event aims to recognise sanitation workers and facilitate their access to health, safety, and social protection measures. The Department of Land Resources organized a National Workshop on proposed pilot projects for river rejuvenation through a watershed approach in New Delhi. Secretary Shri Narendra Bhooshan highlighted that treating landscapes can achieve the twin objectives of watershed development and river rejuvenation. The pilots will focus on restoring river hydrology through catchment treatment, groundwater recharge, soil and water conservation, and improving base and lean-season flows. The workshop brought together experts from IITs, ICAR, NRSC, Central Ground Water Board, NMCG, and other institutions to deliberate on a scientific framework, data-based planning, convergence with government schemes following a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach, and a four-dimensional monitoring framework assessing hydrological, environmental, agricultural, and socio-economic outcomes.

India and Italy held their 2nd Joint Working Group (JWG) on Tourism on September 29, 2026, co-chaired by the Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism of India and the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Tourism of Italy. The National Rural Infrastructure Development Agency (NRIDA) under the Ministry of Rural Development has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Management Kolkata (IIM Kolkata) for a four-year longitudinal impact assessment study of rural roads constructed under PMGSY-IV and PM-JANMAN. Covering 10 States and UTs, 50 districts, 150 blocks, 250 roads, and approximately 5,000 households, the study utilizes pre-construction baseline surveys and post-construction endline surveys. It aims to evaluate long-term socio-economic outcomes, including changes in mobility, accessibility, livelihoods, employment, agriculture, and access to essential services such as healthcare and education.
