The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) held a Technology Transfer Event at its New Delhi headquarters, where four indigenous technologies – the Induction Motor Stethoscope (MSCOPE), Portable & Universal Motor‑cum‑Pump Performance Monitor (PU‑MPP​M), i‑Power Quality Analyser (IPQA) and an Optical Module & Beam Combiner Assembly for Head‑Up Display (HUD) – were licensed to industry. The Optical Module was transferred to Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), while the other three were licensed to Pump Academy Private Limited, Bengaluru. CSIR also launched an affordable IoT‑enabled water service delivery, measurement and monitoring system for rural deployment through Biometry Technologies Pvt. Ltd. The laboratory reported royalty earnings of ₹1.67 crore from BEL for defence‑related technologies in FY 2025‑26.

The Defence Ministry announced that DRDO’s Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE) has successfully developed India’s first indigenous expendable turbo‑jet engine in the 350 kg thrust class. GTRE selected Azad Engineering, Hyderabad as the industry partner for manufacturing and assembly. On 22 July 2026 the engine was delivered to GTRE, and handed over by Azad Engineering’s CEO to Distinguished Scientist Dr K Rajalakshmi Menon and Director Dr S V Ramanamurty. The Defence Secretary praised the GTRE‑industry collaboration as a historic milestone for the Indian aerospace and defence ecosystem.

The Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) is advancing India’s indigenous thorium‑based nuclear fuel programme under the Three‑Stage Nuclear Power Programme to ensure long‑term energy security and self‑reliance. The first stage uses Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors (PHWRs) with limited uranium; spent PHWR fuel yields plutonium for the second stage Fast Breeder Reactors (FBRs), with the Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor (PFBR) achieving first criticality on 6 April 2026. The third stage will utilise uranium‑233 bred from thorium, with ongoing R&D on Molten Salt Reactors (MSR) and back‑end facilities at Tarapur and Kalpakkam supporting reprocessing and waste management.

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) Regional Office, Pune, will conduct the district outreach programme “Nidhi Aapke Nikat 2.0” (NAN 2.0) on 27 July 2026 from 09:30 hrs to 16:00 hrs at M/s Kirloskar Industries Ltd., Jejuri, Pune. The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), an autonomous scientific society under MeitY, has partnered with the Semiconductor Laboratory (SCL), Mohali to make an indigenous 1.2 µm Process Design Kit (PDK) available on the eChipHub platform. eChipHub, managed by NIELIT under the MeitY‑funded project “Development of EdTech Platform in Semiconductor Space to Democratize Chip Design and Development Ecosystem for Masses,” will provide Aadhaar‑authenticated access to the PDK for students, researchers, startups, MSMEs and industry professionals. The integration creates one of India’s first indigenous design‑to‑fabrication learning pathways, linking RTL design through to fabrication‑ready IC designs, and supports the goal of building a skilled workforce for the India Semiconductor Mission.

On 22 July 2026, the Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) carried out a special inspection of 64 urban road stretches (≈31 km) in Faridabad and Gurugram. Using nine Flying Squads, the inspection covered 50 stretches under the Municipal Corporation Faridabad and 14 under the Municipal Corporation Gurugram, focusing on roads with Right‑of‑Way widths of <10 m and 10‑15 m. While 49 stretches (38 in Faridabad, 11 in Gurugram) had end‑to‑end paving, 15 stretches lacked complete paving, indicating pending redevelopment. CAQM noted non‑compliance despite municipal claims, warned of disciplinary action for misinformation, and reiterated the need for full implementation of the Standard Framework for Paving and Greening to curb road‑dust resuspension and aid mechanised sweeping.

The Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) detailed its nuclear‑technology training infrastructure. BARC Training School in Mumbai has a capacity of 230 trainees for engineering design, reactor operation and basic sciences, while its training unit at the Atomic Minerals Directorate in Hyderabad can train 25 trainees in uranium exploration techniques. The Global Centre for Nuclear Energy Partnership (GCNEP) in Bahadurgarh runs five specialised schools – each with a capacity of 20‑45 participants – covering advanced reactor systems, nuclear security, radiological safety, material characterization and radio‑isotope applications. NPCIL operates seven Nuclear Training Centres (NTCs) across its power plants, offering orientation programmes for engineers (capacity 30‑80), supervisors (25‑60) and technicians (50‑80). Over the last five years, 917 Trainee Scientific Officers were admitted to BARC, 863 of whom were absorbed as Scientific Officers, and 590 Category‑I and 1,308 Category‑II trainees were taken in, with 158 already placed in BARC. The data underscore DAE’s structured human‑resource development for indigenous nuclear capability.

The Bharat 6G Alliance (B6GA), an industry‑academia society, grew to 90 members by 15 July 2026 and has set up seven working groups covering 6G technologies, spectrum, applications, devices, green aspects and outreach. AIIMS Nagpur has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sevadaan Aarogya Foundation to set up an 800‑bed Vishram Gruh on its campus, providing affordable accommodation, meals and amenities for patients’ families. The institute has also been designated by the Government of India as a Centre for Secondary Medical Management of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE) emergencies, highlighting its disaster‑response role. Additionally, AIIMS Nagpur signed an MoU with the National Centre for Disease Control to establish a Biosafety Level‑III (BSL‑III) laboratory, enhancing capacity for high‑risk infectious disease diagnostics and research.

The Bharat Forecast System (BharatFS) uses a newly implemented Triangular Cubic Octahedral (TCo) dynamical grid to operate at a 6 km horizontal resolution, surpassing the earlier GFS T1534 (~12 km) and typical global models (9–14 km). Real‑time prediction is enabled by the MoES supercomputing facilities Arka (IITM‑Pune) and Arunika (NCMRWF‑Noida). The system generates forecasts every 6 km, allowing localized predictions for clusters of panchayats/villages, aiding farmers in crop planning and water authorities in reservoir management, and improving extreme rainfall prediction over the core monsoon region. Developed indigenously by Indian institutions, it aligns with strategic, economic and “Make in India” objectives and enhances regional leadership in meteorological services.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, issues district‑level heat‑wave warnings twice daily, providing impact‑based forecasts and recommended actions as per NDMA guidelines and the heat‑action plan. These warnings are disseminated through email, APIs, mobile apps, social media, websites, print media, mass‑communication systems and CAP‑based mechanisms. IMD has created the Hazard and Vulnerability Atlas of India, which assigns Barmer district a Heatwave Vulnerability Index of 0.54 (high vulnerability). Heat‑wave bulletins are shared with disaster managers, health, labour, railways, transport and forest departments, and, as a pilot, with informal workers via their associations. Since 2016, IMD also releases seasonal, monthly, weekly and twice‑daily outlooks to support planning and response.

The Ministry of Earth Sciences’ National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported 16 earthquakes in the Kangra‑Chamba region during June 2026, comprising 12 events of magnitude 2.0‑2.9, three of 3.0‑3.9 and one of 5.0‑5.9. The area lies in Seismic Zone V, the highest hazard zone, and scientific studies indicate potential for earthquakes above magnitude 7.0. NCS monitors 172 seismic stations nationwide, with seven located in Himachal Pradesh. The NDMA, together with state governments, conducts preparedness activities such as mock drills, training, and public awareness. The government also promotes earthquake‑resistant construction through the National Building Code, BIS codes and model bylaws, and supports seismic micro‑zonation studies and financial assistance to states.

The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment announced that the PM‑YASASVI umbrella scheme will broaden scholarship support for students from Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Backward Classes (EBC) and Denotified, Nomadic and Semi‑Nomadic Tribes (DNT). The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) carried out an intelligence‑led operation in Ankleshwar, Gujarat, where it uncovered a fully functional clandestine laboratory for manufacturing the synthetic psychotropic drug mephedrone. The raid seized 1.349 kg of mephedrone, 6.825 kg of the precursor 2‑Bromo‑4‑Methylpropiophenone, 120 litres of monomethylamine, 60 kg of hydrobromic acid, 40 litres of toluene and other mixed acids, all under the NDPS Act, 1985. In addition, Rs 20 lakh in cash was recovered, and a further Rs 1 lakh was seized from an intended receiver, bringing total arrests to three persons. The operation disrupted plans for large‑scale production.

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and Nalanda University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly promote technology deployment, sustainability, rural development, skill enhancement and scientific outreach. The MoU, witnessed by senior officials including the Director‑General of CSIR and the Vice‑Chancellor of Nalanda University, aims to use CSIR’s indigenous technologies—such as solid‑waste management, soil reclamation, and water‑quality improvement—to create community‑centric models in the Nalanda region. It also proposes setting up a CSIR Technology Gallery on campus and undertaking at least three focused societal missions in the initial phase, thereby enhancing the global visibility of Indian scientific innovations and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration with social sciences.

The Ministry of Railways reports that mission‑mode recruitment has added 5.53 lakh personnel between 2014‑15 and 2025‑26, bringing total recruitments since 2014 to 5.56 lakh. Recruitment against 1,61,889 non‑gazetted vacancies for 2024‑26 is underway under the Annual Calendar. In 2024, ten Centralised Employment Notifications (CENs) for 92,116 posts were issued and first‑stage CBTs for these posts attracted 3.58 crore candidates.
