Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports organised the fifth week of the 100 Weeks Campaign under the Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Abhiyan. Centred around the themes “Yoga & Meditation for Nasha Mukt Yuva” and “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Par Charcha” (Neighbourhood Youth Parliament), the initiative spanned 36 States and Union Territories with 1,174 programmes. The events engaged 3,43,288 youth and citizens through activities like pledge-taking, yoga and meditation sessions, and awareness discussions. The campaign was conducted in collaboration with various spiritual and industry organisations to promote substance abuse prevention and healthy lifestyles.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), along with its CPSEs and attached offices, successfully completed the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 Campaign, held from 17th September to 2nd October, 2026. The campaign commenced with a pledge-taking ceremony administered by the Secretary (PNG) at Kartavya Bhawan-3, New Delhi, and featured regular progress reviews. Key achievements reported under the campaign include the transformation of 9,845 Cleanliness Target Units (CTUs), cleaning of 937 public spaces, 143 water body cleanliness drives, 543 mohalla cleanliness drives, engagement of 18,700 schoolchildren through Swachh Pathshala activities, organisation of 234 Safai Mitra Suraksha Evam Samman Shivirs for sanitation workers including 276 preventive health check-ups and distribution of 3,518 PPE kits, various Jan Bhagidari initiatives, and waste-to-wealth activities under Swachhata Se Samriddhi.

The Department of Land Resources is implementing Special Campaign 6, focusing on institutionalizing Swachhata, improving records management, and expediting pending matters under the guidance of Secretary (LR). Progress includes completing 5 out of 12 identified cleanliness activities, disposing of 90% of targeted public grievances, and reviewing 945 out of 1,280 physical files along with 242 out of 501 e-files. Updates are tracked on the SCDPM Portal of the DARPG. Additionally, employee engagement initiatives such as debates, yoga sessions, felicitations of housekeeping staff, Shramdaan activities, Swachhata Pakhwada observance, and plantation efforts under 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' were organized.

The Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), Nagpur, concluded its month-long Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2026 campaign on October 17, following its launch on September 17. Operating under the theme "Swachhata Mein Sahbhag, Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat," the campaign involved headquarters, zonal offices, regional offices, laboratories, and mines. Activities included cleanliness drives, waste management initiatives, e-waste collection, Waste-to-Art activities, health check-up camps for Safai Mitras, plantation drives under "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam," and community outreach programmes such as Swachh Paathshala and school competitions. The concluding event featured the felicitation of Safai Mitras and schoolchildren.

The CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR) successfully organised a two-week skill training programme on library automation, digitisation, and artificial intelligence for libraries from 5–16 October 2026 under the CSIR Integrated Skill Initiative (Phase III). The program aimed to strengthen the technical competencies of 16 participants, including library professionals, academicians, and researchers. It featured experiential learning through expert lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on sessions on Koha Integrated Library Management System, DSpace digital repository software, AI applications, and text similarity checking tools like iThenticate.

The Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh launched the revamped websites of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Department of Defence (DoD) on October 19, 2026. The new platforms comply with the Digital Brand Identity Manual (DBIM) 3.0 and the Guidelines for Indian Government Websites (GIGW) 3.0. Designed to be accessible and user-friendly, the websites provide information on MoD policies, initiatives, activities, notifications, and defence updates. Content is made available in 22 Indian official languages to enhance outreach and accessibility. This initiative supports the Government's Digital India and e-Governance vision to promote transparency, efficiency, and citizen-centric information delivery.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) conducted coordinated intelligence-led operations resulting in the seizure of over seven kilograms of amphetamine and three kilograms of cocaine, alongside three arrests. Interceptions took place at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, near Nagpur, and at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. The contraband was found concealed in passenger baggage, a backpack hidden inside a ladies' suit, and luggage arriving from Ghana. The substances were seized under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) dismantled an organised gold smuggling syndicate operating through the airports in Ahmedabad and Surat, resulting in three arrests under the Customs Act, 1962. Coordinated searches conducted over a 42-hour period uncovered a network involving foreign-origin gold smuggling via concealed methods such as rhodium-coated wires, inner linings of trolley bags, and gold paste. The operation tracked the illicit supply chain from airport hand-overs to an illegal gold-melting facility in Vadodara and subsequent sale through a jewellery outlet in Ahmedabad. Authorities seized gold and recovered evidence related to dealings involving approximately 13 kg of foreign-origin gold valued at around Rs. 19.41 crore, linked to a Dubai-based financier.

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh reviewed the mid-campaign progress of Special Swachhata Campaign 6.0, noting that it surpassed the previous Special Campaign 5.0 in cleanliness campaign sites, revenue from scrap disposal, and office space freed as of October 19, 2026. Implemented from October 2 to October 31, 2026, the campaign covers physical and electronic file reviews, public grievance clearance, e-waste management, and scrap disposal across Ministries, Departments, and field offices. Major contributors noted include the Department of School Education and Literacy for site numbers and the Ministry of Railways for scrap revenue.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh inaugurated a workplace crèche and a blood donation camp at Kartavya Bhawan-3 in New Delhi, implemented as part of Special Swachhata Campaign 6.0 by converting underutilised office space. Spanning over 2,000 square feet, the model crèche is established under Ministry of Women and Child Development guidelines, has a capacity for 30–35 children, and is managed by the Grih Kalyan Kendra (GKK) under the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). The initiative aims to support working parents, particularly mothers, by providing child-friendly amenities, safety features, and dependable childcare within the workplace to foster employee welfare and responsive governance.

The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment highlights the role of the National Fellowship for Scheduled Caste Students (NFSC) scheme through the educational journey of Dr Shrikant Dilip Khandare from Solapur, Maharashtra. Dr Khandare pursued doctoral research focusing on sustainable solutions for environmental challenges such as plastic waste and pollution. Facing financial uncertainty and constraints that threatened his doctoral continuation after qualifying for the CSIR-UGC NET, he received financial assistance under the NFSC scheme starting October 2019. The support, totaling ₹9.90 lakh including fellowship and House Rent Allowance, enabled him to overcome economic barriers, continue his research, and successfully complete his Ph.D.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), functioning under the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, has introduced a new 'Toll Plaza Feedback' feature on the Rajmargyatra mobile application. This initiative enables National Highway users to share their experiences regarding toll plazas to enhance service delivery and make journeys safer and smoother. Annual pass users receive a notification after crossing a toll plaza, while all users can manually access the feedback feature through the app's menu section to rate their experience, select relevant options, and add remarks. The system is designed to promote citizen participation and assist NHAI in identifying and monitoring areas that require service improvements across the national highway network.

The Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), under the Ministry of Science and Technology, is implementing Special Campaign 6 starting October 2, 2026. The campaign focuses on institutionalizing Swachhata, reducing pendency, managing e-waste, efficient record management, and creating clean workspaces. Progress achieved under the campaign includes reviewing 7,781 out of 9,805 physical files, weeding out 1,448 files, achieving 100% targets in reviewing e-files and easing rules, and 95% disposal of pending public grievances. Cleanliness campaigns were conducted at 95 out of 150 target sites, generating a revenue of Rs. 12,08,047 and freeing up 2,980 square feet of space.

Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah will pay homage to police martyrs on Police Commemoration Day at the National Police Memorial in New Delhi on October 21, 2026. During the event, he will flag-off a nationwide motorcycle rally themed ‘Fight Against Drugs’ involving riders from various States, Union Territories, and Central Forces, culminating at Ekta Nagar, Gujarat for the Ekta Parade. October 21 marks the anniversary of the 1959 incident where ten policemen lost their lives in an ambush at Hot Springs, Ladakh. The National Police Memorial, dedicated in 2018, features a 30-foot granite monolith, the Wall of Valour, and a museum, serving as a site to honour the sacrifices of police personnel.

Union Social Justice and Empowerment Secretary Shri Sudhansh Pant reviewed key central government schemes, programmes, and initiatives with the State Social Welfare Department Administration in Mysuru, Karnataka. The review meeting covered schemes such as the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR), Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA), Pradhan Mantri Anusuchit Jaati Abhyuday Yojana (PM AJAY), National Action Plan for Mechanized Sanitation Ecosystem (NAMASTE), Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana (AVYAY), various scholarship schemes, and welfare measures for transgender persons and persons engaged in begging under SMILE. The ICAR-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI) has developed biofortified coloured potato varieties, including Kufri neelkanth, Kufri manik, and Kufri jamunia, to address hidden hunger and nutritional security. Among these, Kufri jamunia, officially released in 2024, is a medium-maturing, dark purple-skinned and purple-fleshed potato variety containing enhanced levels of anthocyanins, Vitamin C, carotenoids, zinc, and iron compared to conventional yellow-skinned potatoes. It has demonstrated stable performance in multi-location trials and is recommended for cultivation in the North Indian plains. The variety shows good storage quality, medium dormancy, and versatile culinary applications for traditional dishes and processed food products.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 137 kg of crystal methamphetamine from a coastal village in Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu, during an operation conducted on 16–17 October 2026. Acting on intelligence regarding an attempted smuggling operation to Sri Lanka via mid-sea transfer, officers recovered six duffel bags containing the contraband, valued at over Rs 100 crore, under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Four individuals were arrested and remanded to judicial custody, while cash, vehicles, and the logistics network supporting the coastal export were intercepted.

Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh is scheduled to visit Dushanbe, Tajikistan, to represent India at the 25th Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government (CHG) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) on October 19-20, 2026. The meeting will concentrate on enhancing multilateral cooperation among SCO Member States in trade, economy, investment, connectivity, innovation, and cultural-humanitarian exchanges, alongside reviewing ongoing initiatives and financial-institutional functioning. Dr. Abhilaksh Likhi, Union Secretary for the Department of Fisheries, visited the Munsyari Coldwater Fisheries Cluster in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, on October 18, 2026, to review coldwater aquaculture development. During his visit, he interacted with trout farmers at Johar Matsya Swayatt Sehkarita and Namjala Trout Farm, recognizing the role of local cooperatives in adopting rainbow trout farming. The Government of India has notified 34 fisheries clusters nationwide, with Pithoragarh designated as a Cold Water Fisheries Cluster under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY). The government highlighted that PMMSY has invested over ₹2,299 crore in coldwater regions across six hilly states and union territories. Additionally, Uttarakhand has exported trout to Nepal and supplied trout to the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) via an MoU.

Union Social Justice and Empowerment Secretary Shri Sudhansh Pant visited the Shilp Samagam Mela 2026 in Mysuru, Karnataka. Organized by the Ministry through the National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation (NSFDC), National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC), and National Safai Karamcharis Finance and Development Corporation (NSKFDC), the nine-day mela features 83 stalls (including 80 for artisans, with 37 women artisans) representing 12 States and Union Territories. The initiative provides market access, supports livelihoods, and advances the economic empowerment of disadvantaged groups such as Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes, and Safai Karamcharis. The Ministry also highlighted the BHARAT TULIP initiative for digital market expansion.
