Indian Railways will flag off the country’s first hydrogen fuel‑cell trainset – a 10‑coach passenger train with a capacity of about 2,600 passengers. The train generates electricity onboard by reacting hydrogen with oxygen, emitting only water vapour. It can run at an operational speed of 75 km/h (design speed 110 km/h) on the 89 km Jind–Sonipat section. A dedicated hydrogen production, storage (≈3,000 kg), compression and dispensing facility at Jind supports the train, and the system incorporates multi‑layer safety devices and has been certified by TÜV SÜD and PESO. On the 98th Foundation Day of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced a roadmap for ‘Viksit Krishi and Samruddh Kisan’ under the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. The Technology Development Board (TDB) of the Department of Science & Technology has approved financial assistance to M/s K. N. Biosciences (India) Private Limited, Hyderabad, for commercialising an indigenous C‑phycocyanin production technology developed by IIT Guwahati using Spirulina strain NCIM 5143. The process combines optimized photoautotrophic cultivation with a green, solvent‑free extraction and single‑step purification to yield high‑purity, food‑grade blue pigment. The initiative aims to create a domestic value‑chain for natural pigments, reduce dependence on imported colourants, and promote sustainable, bio‑based manufacturing aligned with the Government’s bio‑economy and Aatmanirbhar Bharat goals.

The Ministry of Power has released the Draft Corporate Average Fuel Economy 2027 Norms (CAFE‑III) for stakeholder consultation.
