IICA’s Meet the Legend Programme Explores ‘PMLA–IBC Interface’

The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) hosted a session under its 'Meet the Legend' programme for the 8th Post Graduate Insolvency Programme (PGIP) cohort, focusing on the interface between the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002 and the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), 2016. Delivered by Shri Balesh Kumar, Member of the Appellate Tribunal, the lecture covered the PMLA framework, stages of money laundering, key legal provisions, and judicial precedents. Discussions emphasized the practical complexities when corporate debtor assets face attachment under PMLA during insolvency resolution, highlighting the evolving judicial approach to harmonizing insolvency objectives with anti-money laundering enforcement.
