The National Cooperation Policy (NCP) 2025, launched on 24 July 2025 by the Home & Cooperation Minister, outlines a 10‑year roadmap for the cooperative sector with six strategic pillars, 16 objectives and 83 recommendations. It seeks to bring 50 crore people under cooperatives and triple the sector’s contribution to the Indian economy. The policy emphasises inclusion of Dalits, Adivasis and women, notably through a ‘White Revolution 2.0’ targeting a 50 % rise in milk procurement (from 660 LKgPD in 2023‑24 to 1,007 LKgPD by 2028‑29) and the establishment of new primary agriculture credit societies, dairy and fishery cooperatives. As of 15 June 2026, 38,138 new PACS, dairy and fishery societies have been registered, including 25,282 dairy cooperatives across 31 states/UTs.

The Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, through ICAR’s All India Network Programme on Natural Farming (2020‑21), is studying natural farming across 16 states with 20 centres, 11 State Agricultural Universities, 8 ICAR institutes and one deemed university. Field trials report yield gains of 5 % over organic farming, improved soil organic carbon (0.90 % → 1.15 %) and higher microbial diversity. NITI Aayog’s assessment notes that 91.2 % of adopters see higher productivity and 90.1 % report reduced input costs. Under the scheme, an output‑based incentive of ₹4,000 per acre per year is offered for two years (up to one acre per farmer) to support natural‑farming practices and related inputs.

The 3rd Advance Estimates show Maharashtra’s sugarcane production rising from 1,099.70 lakh tonnes in 2024‑25 to 1,316.49 lakh tonnes in 2025‑26, with cultivated area increasing from 11.67 to 13.72 lakh hectares and yield improving marginally from 94,230 kg/ha to 95,963 kg/ha. Integrated Pest Management centres in Nagpur and Nashik monitored red‑rot disease, finding infestations above the Economic Threshold Level on only 34 ha of 4,295 ha (2024‑25) and 5 ha of 1,450 ha (2025‑26). About 99.6 % of Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) payments were disbursed to growers, and the central FRP was raised to Rs 365 per quintal for 2026‑27. Maharashtra has 210 operational sugar mills, an average sugar recovery of 11.26 %, and a Rs 415.02 lakh allocation for the NFNSM‑Sugarcane programme in 2026‑27. The state also benefits from 36 sugarcane‑specific drought‑tolerant varieties released by ICAR.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has completed a comprehensive review of the Indian Penal Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure and the Indian Evidence Act, repealing them and enacting three new statutes – the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (2023), Bharatiya Nagarika Suraksha Sanhita (2023) and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (2023). The new laws prescribe specific time‑limits for key stages – e.g., preliminary enquiry (14 days), further investigation (90 days), document supply (14 days), case commitment (90 days), discharge applications (60 days), framing charges (60 days), judgment (45 days) and mercy petitions (30 days to the Governor, 60 days to the President). They also mandate fast‑track investigations for offences against women and children, limit adjournments to two, and introduce e‑Sakshya, e‑Summon and Nyaya‑Shruti (VC) for digital evidence handling and virtual court appearances. The Minister of State, Shri Bandi Sanjay Kumar, conveyed these details in a Lok Sabha reply.

The Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare is monitoring the monsoon and potential El Niño impacts on agriculture in coordination with IMD, ICAR, CRIDA, CWC, CGWB, MNCFC, DFPD, DoF and State Governments. District Agriculture Contingency Plans for 14 states (342 districts) have been updated, and ICAR has held interface meetings and issued SOPs for KVKs. Emphasis is placed on crop diversification, short‑duration and drought‑tolerant varieties, balanced fertiliser use, water‑conservation, micro‑irrigation and other climate‑resilient practices, with advisories to sow maize, bajra and moong instead of tur, soybean and cotton. Maharashtra has been allocated ₹5,718 crore under SDRF for 2026‑27 (₹4,288.50 crore central share, ₹1,429.50 crore state share) and further allocations up to 2030‑31. Ongoing schemes such as PM‑KISAN, PM‑Fasal Bima Yojana, PDMC, and Viksit Bharat‑VB GRam G are being leveraged for drought mitigation.

The National Cooperation Policy (NCP) 2025 outlines a roadmap for the cooperative sector’s development and establishes two monitoring bodies – a National Steering Committee chaired by the Union Minister of Cooperation and a Policy Implementation and Monitoring Committee chaired by the Union Cooperation Secretary. The Policy Implementation and Monitoring Committee met on 09 June 2026 and reported that 152 Ministry‑of‑Cooperation initiatives are underway and that States/UTs should frame their own cooperation policies in line with NCP 2025. The National Cooperative Database (NCD) records 1,12,895 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) – 1,07,457 functional – and 10,225 new multipurpose PACS (M‑PACS) registered as of 15 July 2026. A computerisation project now covers 79,630 PACS with an increased outlay of ₹2,925.39 crore, bringing 63,707 PACS onto a common ERP platform. The NCD provides single‑point access to data on over 8.5 lakh cooperatives across 30 sectors, supporting policy formulation and implementation.

On 21 July 2026, President Droupadi Murmu addressed the Assembly of North Macedonia in Skopje, highlighting India’s view of the country as a strategic pillar in a stable, multipolar world. She stressed that parliamentary diplomacy and interactions between legislators build institutional trust beyond political cycles, urging young MPs to exchange best practices. The President announced India’s intent to scale bilateral and regional engagement, citing emerging trade and investment opportunities as Southeast Europe becomes a dynamic growth corridor. She also referenced India’s recent law reserving one‑third seats for women in Parliament and State legislatures, underscoring a commitment to inclusive democratic institutions.

The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has granted marketing authorisation to the Dengue Tetravalent Vaccine (Live, Attenuated) – Qdenga®, manufactured by Takeda GmbH and to be imported by Takeda Biopharmaceuticals India. The vaccine, a recombinant live‑attenuated tetravalent product produced in Vero cells, is approved for individuals aged 4–60 years with a two‑dose schedule (0 and 3 months). It has received regulatory approval in 42 countries, WHO pre‑qualification and more than 24 million doses have been distributed globally. The approval follows a comprehensive evaluation under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and is intended to complement existing vector‑control and surveillance measures under the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme.

The Government has adopted a comprehensive strategy to promote AYUSH‑based medical tourism. A dedicated Ayush Visa (M‑3) and Attendant Visa (M‑4) were introduced on 27 July 2023 to enable foreign nationals to seek AYUSH treatment. The Ayush Quality Mark was launched at the Second Global Traditional Medicine Summit in December 2025 to align product and service standards with international expectations. The Ministry of AYUSH has published Standard Treatment Guidelines for its disciplines and established the Ayurveda Training Accreditation Board (ATAB) under Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth. It has also organised two Medical Value Travel Summits (September 2024, Mumbai; May 2025, Chennai) and participated in the WHO Global Summit on Traditional Medicine (December 2025), signing multiple MoUs under the International Cooperation (IC) Scheme.

India’s textile and apparel exports, including handicrafts, rose 1.8 % to ₹3,25,339 crore in 2025‑26 from ₹3,19,573 crore in 2024‑25, with growth recorded in over 100 export destinations. Export values from Madhya Pradesh and Bihar were ₹11,751.7 crore and ₹409.0 crore respectively in 2025‑26. The government highlighted several schemes supporting the sector, such as PM‑MITRA Parks, PLI, National Technical Textiles Mission, SAMARTH, Silk Samagra‑2, various handloom and handicraft programmes, RoSCTL, RoDTEP, Export Promotion Mission (EPM) and the Credit Guarantee Scheme for Exporters. On 19 March 2026, the RELIEF initiative was launched to aid exporters affected by West‑Asia conflicts and Gulf maritime challenges, and cotton imports under heading 5201 were exempted from 1 June to 31 Oct 2026. Sixteen FTAs, including the India‑UK CETA, and recent agreements with the EU and New Zealand, were cited as avenues for expanding textile exports. RoSCTL and RoDTEP schemes were extended to 30 Sept 2026 to ensure policy stability.

The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying reported that, per the Government of Tamil Nadu, 1,480 inland fish farmers are registered with the District Fish Farmers Development Agency and 1,234 inland fishermen are registered in cooperative societies in Thanjavur district. Under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), Rs 196.30 Lakhs were disbursed (2021‑22 to 2023‑24) for projects including freshwater finfish hatcheries, seed‑rearing ponds, grow‑out ponds, Biofloc units and a recirculatory aquaculture system. The River Ranching Programme released 176 lakh fingerlings (59.76 lakh in the Cauvery) aiming to raise fish production by 220 tonnes. Subsidy assistance under PMMSY reached 355 beneficiaries in delta districts, and 9 lakh fingerlings were stocked in Panchayat tanks covering 450 ha during 2024‑26.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Mr. Andy Burnham on assuming office as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, noting that India and the UK share democratic values and enjoy extensive cooperation in trade, investment, technology, defence and people‑to‑people relations. Modi highlighted that the Comprehensive Economic Trade Agreement (CETA) entered into force this month, and expressed intent to deepen the India‑UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and advance the shared Vision 2035.

The Ministry of Commerce & Industry reports that the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Schemes covering 14 key sectors have attracted over ₹2.40 lakh crore of investment and generated more than 14.15 lakh jobs (direct and indirect) as of 31 March 2026. Cumulative exports under the schemes have risen from ₹4 lakh crore in FY 2023‑24 to ₹15.2 lakh crore in FY 2025‑26. Sector‑wise data (Annexure‑I) shows the largest investments in Large‑Scale Electronics Manufacturing (₹20,580 crore) and Pharmaceuticals (₹45,158 crore), with significant employment in Food Products (₹3,29,200 jobs) and White Goods (₹52,703 jobs). The schemes are overseen by DPIIT and reviewed by the Empowered Group of Secretaries chaired by the Cabinet Secretary.

The Ministry of Tourism has sanctioned 117 projects worth ₹5,756.62 crore over the last two financial years under schemes such as Swadesh Darshan 2.0, Challenge‑Based Destination Development, PRASHAD, and the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment. The projects span a range of tourism infrastructure – from beach and pilgrimage experiences to adventure hubs, eco‑resorts and heritage centres – across multiple states and Union Territories. The Ministry also promotes tourism digitally via the revamped Incredible India platform (launched Sep 2024) and supports international arrivals through e‑Visa liberalisation, 24×7 helplines, and coordination with civil aviation and home affairs. These initiatives are aimed at enhancing basic amenities, diversifying niche tourism products and boosting India’s global tourism appeal.

The PIB release states that as of 15 July 2026, Bhagalpur district in Bihar has 788 cooperative societies, of which 728 are functional. The Government’s Central Sector Project for Computerisation of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), launched in 2022, has been expanded to a financial outlay of ₹2,925.39 crore, covering 79,630 PACS nationwide and linking them to NABARD via State and District Cooperative Banks. Additionally, a plan approved by the Government aims to establish new multipurpose PACS/dairy/fisheries cooperatives across all panchayats and villages within five years, with 38,138 new societies registered and 21,292 dairy/fisheries societies strengthened as of 15 July 2026. The Ministry of Cooperation highlights ongoing digitalisation initiatives for cooperative institutions, including computerisation of registrar offices and agricultural development banks.

The National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB), Ministry of AYUSH, is implementing a Central Sector Scheme for the conservation, development and sustainable management of medicinal plants across India. Under the scheme, activities such as IEC programmes, forward‑and‑backward supply‑chain linkages, in‑situ and ex‑situ conservation, livelihood linkages with forest‑related committees, research & development, and promotion/marketing of medicinal plants are being supported. NMPB’s Regional‑cum‑Facilitation Centres provide quality planting material and conduct GAP/GFCP training. From FY 2021‑22 to 2025‑26, 152 IEC projects received Rs 1,186.91 lakh (Rs 948.54 lakh released). Additionally, 15 forest‑area projects received Rs 3,363.24 lakh, 57 R&D projects were funded, and 12 integrated‑component supply‑chain projects were sanctioned during FY 2023‑24 to 2025‑26.

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, shared an article by Union Minister Shri Chirag Paswan that underscores the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme. According to the Prime Minister’s statement, the scheme is formalising micro‑food‑processing enterprises by providing affordable finance, technology, branding and market linkages. This is enabling local producers—especially women—to become job creators, thereby strengthening rural economies and contributing to an Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

On 14 July 2026, the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises inaugurated a second PM Vishwakarma (PMV) stall at Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, Chandigarh. The stall, set up with support from NABARD and a Self‑Help Group, provides three local artisans – a basket maker, a doll‑maker, and a potter – a platform to display and sell handcrafted products to domestic and international travellers. The initiative aims to enhance market visibility, enable direct customer interaction, and promote traditional crafts, aligning with the ‘Vocal for Local’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ objectives. The PM Vishwakarma Scheme, launched in 2023, supports artisans in 18 trades through skill training, modern tools, collateral‑free credit, digital incentives and market linkages.

The Merchant Shipping Act, 2025 came into force on 15 March 2026, updating India’s maritime legal framework to align with contemporary international standards. The Act enhances statutory safeguards for abandoned seafarers, tightens regulation of recruitment and placement services, and provides a robust legal basis for implementing evolving international maritime labour norms. In response to heightened security risks in conflict‑sensitive maritime zones, the Directorate General of Maritime Administration (DGMA) issued a series of advisories and circulars (e.g., DGS Advisory 14.01.2026, Circulars 09‑31 of 2026) directing Indian seafarers and shipping stakeholders to avoid deployments to Iran, maintain vigilance in the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz, register with Indian missions, and use a newly established 24 × 7 helpline for emergency assistance. These measures were communicated by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.

The Rajya Sabha Committee on Subordinate Legislation, chaired by Shri Milind Murli Deora, submitted its 257th report on 21 July 2026, examining four 2024 Competition Commission of India (CCI) regulations and guidelines. The Committee observed a need for periodic review of the competition law framework, enhanced advocacy and outreach especially for MSMEs and start‑ups, and more vigorous enforcement to deter repeated violations.
