The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has launched the 6th edition of the National Startup Awards (NSA 6.0) under the Startup India initiative. Celebrating ten years of Startup India, NSA 6.0 aims to recognise innovation, entrepreneurship, scalability, sustainability, and socio-economic impact. The awards span 20 sectoral categories—including 12 newly introduced sectors like Biomanufacturing, Defence & Security, and Space-Tech—and three special categories, which now feature a Student Innovator / Aspiring Entrepreneur Award. Eligible winners across sectoral and startup categories can receive a cash prize of ₹25 lakh per category, alongside mentorship, market access, and investor engagement. Applications are open from 27 October to 20 November 2026.

The Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India, along with the Labour Department of the Government of Uttar Pradesh, jointly organized a two-day state-level capacity-building and awareness programme titled "Shram Samvad" in Lucknow. The event focused on the implementation of new Labour Codes, labour welfare, and social protection measures. It convened senior officials, employers, industry representatives, and legal, HR, and finance professionals to discuss labour reforms, digital service delivery platforms like e-Shram and the Shram Suvidha Portal, unorganized and gig worker coverage, compliance requirements under the four Labour Codes, and welfare schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana.

The second edition of the ARISE Cities Forum 2026 opened in New Delhi, organized by ICLEI South Asia in collaboration with the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) and supported by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Operating under the theme "From Bharat to Antalya — Commit. Implement. Deliver," the forum brings together delegates representing the Global South to discuss urban resilience, sustainability, and equitable low-carbon development. The discussions contribute to the Delhi Declaration on Local Action for Global Climate Goals 2026, intended for presentation at COP31 in Antalya, Türkiye. Day 1 featured multiple technical sessions, the launch of various urban policy reports and frameworks, and a Memorandum of Understanding exchanged between Global Buildings Performance Network (GBPN) and ICLEI South Asia.

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal held high-level engagements in the Netherlands to strengthen bilateral trade, investment ties, and economic cooperation. His schedule included meetings with Dutch government leaders, parliamentarians, and the India–Netherlands Business Forum—jointly chaired with Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Mr. Sjoerd Sjoerdsma. Discussions at the forum and meetings with Dutch CEOs and CXOs centered on the India-EU Free Trade Agreement, semiconductor technology, electronics, logistics, energy, and supply chain integration. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Highlighting India's transition from adopting foreign innovations to creating original technologies, the Prime Minister detailed advancements across nuclear energy, space, artificial intelligence, and semiconductors. He noted that the indigenous 500-Megawatt Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor recently achieved First Criticality. Furthermore, he highlighted that the Anusandhan National Research Foundation has catalyzed a total commitment of 24,000 crore rupees for research and development over the past year through government and private investments, while annual patent filings have grown significantly. The Prime Minister emphasized that science must step out of the lab to serve society, underscored the necessity of verifying AI-generated outputs, and called for dedicated national missions in future-shaping domains.

The Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Shri Jitin Prasada, met with Liechtenstein’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Environment and Culture, H.E. Ms. Sabine Monauni, in New Delhi to discuss strengthening bilateral trade and investment. The meeting coincided with the visit of Liechtenstein’s Head of State, H.S.H. Hereditary Prince Alois. Discussions highlighted India’s economic growth, ongoing reforms, and opportunities under the India–EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA), which involves commitments of USD 100 billion in investments and one million direct jobs over 15 years. The Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA), operating under the Ministry of Women and Child Development, organized its Fifth Regional Consultative Workshop for the Eastern Zone in Ranchi, Jharkhand. Held in collaboration with the Government of Jharkhand and the State Adoption Resource Agency, the event gathered over 175 stakeholders across 115 districts of Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, and West Bengal. The workshop formed part of CARA's Adoption Awareness Campaign 2025, centering on the theme of promoting non-institutionalized rehabilitation and expanding adoption opportunities for children with special needs (Divyaang children). Discussions addressed field-level challenges, medical assessments, legal and procedural requirements, and inter-departmental coordination between child protection and healthcare systems.

The Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas announced that the fifth edition of India Energy Week (IEW) 2027 will be held from 28–31 January 2027 at the New Town Convention Centre, Kolkata. Operating under the theme ‘Unlocking Innovation, Securing Energy, Shaping Tomorrow,’ the event expects over 75,000 energy professionals, 6,500 conference delegates, and 700+ exhibitors from more than 120 countries. Organized by the Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry (FIPI) with Informa Markets as Conference Organiser, the event features a Strategic Conference and a Technical Conference covering 20 core categories such as energy transition, renewables, decarbonisation, and alternative fuels.

The ICAR–Mahatma Gandhi Integrated Farming Research Institute (ICAR-MGIFRI), Motihari, Bihar organized a farmer awareness and field interaction programme under Khet Bachao Abhiyan 2026 in East Champaran. The programme focused on soil health management, soil-test-based balanced fertilisation, nutrient recycling of organic resources like crop residues and farmyard manure, crop diversification, and resource-efficient cultivation of mango and litchi orchards. Attended by 29 farmers and led by ICAR-MGIFRI scientists, the initiative aimed to improve orchard productivity, reduce cultivation costs, enhance nutrient-use efficiency, and promote climate-resilient agricultural livelihoods.

Union Minister for Jal Shakti Shri C. R. Patil chaired a review meeting with the Minister of State of Jal Shakti and Heads of Departments (HoDs) of the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation. The meeting assessed the overall progress of various initiatives, projects, schemes, and programs. Detailed presentations were delivered by the Flood Management Wing, Farakka Barrage Project, National Water Mission, Modernisation of Command Area Development and Water Management (M-CADWM), Basin Management, National Water Development Agency, Ken–Betwa Link Project Authority, Brahmaputra–Barak River Matters, Brahmaputra Board, Minor Irrigation Statistics, and the National Institute of Hydrology. Discussions covered the status of the Flood Management and Border Areas Programme, barrage gate replacements, anti-erosion measures, pilot clusters under M-CADWM, the Ken–Betwa Link Project components like Daudhan Dam and link canals, Brahmaputra Board master plans, minor irrigation censuses, and National Institute of Hydrology targets. The Union Minister directed officials to resolve implementation bottlenecks, expedite project execution, and strengthen coordination with States for timely completion.

The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) commenced Vigilance Awareness Week 2026 by administering the integrity pledge to its officers and staff at Satarkata Bhawan in New Delhi. Scheduled from 26th October to 1st November 2026, this year's observance is held under the theme “सत्यनिष्ठा से समृद्धि” or “Probity for Prosperity”. Additionally, the CVC advised all Central Government Ministries, Departments, and Organizations to undertake a three-month preventive vigilance campaign from 17th August to 16th November 2026 focusing on areas such as complaint and case disposal, capacity building, digital initiatives, and contract management. A one-day workshop on “Transformation Through Technology” was also organized as part of the event.

Yard 1283 (Srishti), a Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessel (NGOPV), was launched at Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), Goa, on October 27, 2026. Designed and built indigenously, these vessels are meant to augment the Indian Navy's capabilities for multi-domain operations, including maritime surveillance, Search and Rescue, protection of offshore assets, Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR), and anti-piracy missions. Construction is taking place concurrently at GSL (Goa) and GRSE (Kolkata). The ship's name, 'Srishti', means 'Creation' or 'Act of Creating' in Sanskrit. The launch highlights indigenous shipbuilding efforts aligned with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives.

The 11th edition of the India-Indonesia Joint Special Forces Exercise, GARUDA SHAKTI, has commenced at Banyuwangi, Indonesia, scheduled from 27 October to 06 November 2026. The Indian contingent consists of troops from the Parachute Regiment (Special Forces), while the Indonesian side is represented by its Special Forces. The exercise aims to improve mutual understanding, cooperation, and interoperability through training in special operations in jungle environments, including combat marksmanship, mountaineering, obstacle crossing, air assault training, and tactical exchanges. The exercise concludes with a validation exercise simulating realistic operational scenarios to test coordination and combat readiness.

Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya chaired the third formal meeting of the COP10 Bureau and the fourth formal meeting of the Fund's Approval Committee under the UNESCO International Convention against Doping in Sport in New Delhi. Highlighting India's commitment to clean sport, the Minister noted that India strengthened its anti-doping framework via the National Anti-Doping Act of 2022 and its 2025 Amendment, and announced plans to introduce further amendments with criminal provisions in the next parliamentary session. Union Education Minister Shri Pralhad Joshi inaugurated the CBSE Experience Centre at the CBSE Integrated Complex in Dwarka, New Delhi. Spanning 6,000 square feet with 12 broad zones and 21 exhibits, the Centre utilizes RFID-enabled smart cards to provide an immersive learning environment that moves beyond rote learning in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The facility showcases India's educational evolution from ancient gurukuls to digital classrooms, historical records from 1935, a geological timeline, career exploration tools, holographic interactions with figures like Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, a kiosk on the Prime Minister's book 'Exam Warriors', and a multisensory 'Eduverse' zone. The Minister also highlighted the expansion of Atal Tinkering Labs and noted that practical experimentation aids the vision of a developed India by 2047.

Artisans and craftspeople under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme showcased traditional Indian crafts and indigenous skills at the two-day Cultural Bazar held during the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum in New Delhi. Eight artisans representing eight states—Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Nagaland, Karnataka, and Maharashtra—displayed various traditional trades including tailoring, goldsmithing, stone carving, toy making, and cobbler work. The event served as a platform to highlight India's cultural heritage to international and national delegates while demonstrating how the PM Vishwakarma Scheme supports traditional skill preservation, e-commerce onboarding, toolkits, loan assistance, and market exposure.

Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), a Defence Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, launched the Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessel (NGOPV) INS Srishti (Yard 1283) for the Indian Navy in Panaji, Goa. The vessel is designed for maritime surveillance, protection of offshore assets, and safeguarding maritime interests. Officials emphasized the importance of indigenous shipbuilding, digital planning, standardized designs, and timely execution under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives.

The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) has released findings from a community-based Ayurveda programme conducted in Faridabad district, Haryana, targeting the physical and mental health of elderly individuals. Implemented under AIIA's Public Health Initiative, the project screened thousands of elderly participants and administered Ayurveda-based medicines, noting improvements in quality of life, Agnibala, bone mineral density, cognitive assessments, and specific biomarkers. The project report was submitted to an expert committee following a presentation workshop at AIIA, which also highlighted the need for further scientific evaluation and wider public health outreach for older populations.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is organising a Unity Run at Electronics Niketan, New Delhi, on October 31, 2026, to commemorate Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birth anniversary and conclude Special Campaign 6.0. Conducted from October 2 to 31, 2026, Special Campaign 6.0 focuses on disposing of pending references, scientific management of electronic waste, scrap disposal, reviewing records, and simplifying administrative processes. The concluding event will feature a Swachhata pledge, the Unity Run as part of the Fit India Freedom Run 2026, recognition of well-performing organizations, and felicitation of Safai Mitras.
