The Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN) MP and UP Units conducted 'Operation Black Hawk', successfully seizing over 18.6 kg of crude heroin and arresting three members of an inter-state trafficking network. The back-to-back operations near Lucknow involved intercepting an Assam-registered car and a heavy commercial truck, which used fabricated fuel tank cavities and secret body chambers to conceal the narcotics originating from a North-Eastern state. Developed indigenously by the Centre for Excellence in Postal Technology (CEPT) under DoP IT 2.0 Modernization, Dak MITRA acts as a unified operational platform for over 1.4 lakh Branch Post Offices, allowing paperless and real-time doorstep transactions using Android-based handheld devices. Meanwhile, the Dak Sewa app provides citizens with 24x7 access to postal services across 23 Indian languages via BHASHINI. The President of India will confer the National Awards to Teachers (NAT) 2026 on 21 faculty members from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and polytechnics at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on September 5, 2026. The selected awardees comprise 12 from central HEIs, five from state universities (including three government and two private colleges), and four from polytechnics (two government and two private). Indian Railways has launched a special cleanliness drive focusing on the cleaning and disinfection of drinking-water tanks and filtration systems across its network. The initiative forms part of a broader action plan to strengthen drinking-water quality management by emphasizing frequent inspection, maintenance, and water-quality testing at both the source and point of consumption. The Talabira II & III Open Cast Coal Mine in Odisha, allocated to NLC India Ltd. under the Nominated Authority framework, achieved record performance in FY 2025-26 with an annual coal production of 19.14 MT and dispatch of 17.69 MT. The mine supplies coal to the power sector and non-regulated sectors across multiple states. It has integrated digital technologies such as the Digital Logistics Management System, surface miners, and drone-based surveying to improve efficiency.
