The Ministry of Railways has announced the launch of the first steel bridge for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project in Maharashtra. The 100-metre-long, 1,405 MT steel bridge was installed over NH-3 (Nashik Highway) at Dive-Anjur village in Bhiwandi, Thane district. Fabricated in Trichy, Tamil Nadu, and transported by trailers to the site, the bridge assembly involved international welding standards, Ultrasonic Testing of steel batches, 54,076 Tor-Shear Type High Strength Bolts, a C5 protective painting system, and elastomeric bearings. The structure was pulled into position using an automatic mechanism during night-time traffic blocks. Out of 28 planned steel bridges for the corridor, 16 have been completed.

The Ministry of Communications released the telecom subscription data for August 2026, indicating an overall growth in the total telephone subscriber base in India, which reached 1,360.70 million. The sector recorded a net addition of 6.42 million subscribers, maintaining a monthly growth rate of 0.47%. This growth is supported by both the wireless segment (1,312.25 million subscribers) and the wireline segment (48.45 million subscribers). A large multicentre, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial published in Frontiers in Medicine evaluated the prolonged use of a standardised Ashwagandha root extract over 24 weeks among 1,200 vaccinated adults. Conducted by a multidisciplinary team of researchers from nine institutions, including the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), the study found that daily administration of 500 mg of the extract was well tolerated, showing no evidence of treatment-related liver or kidney injury. Furthermore, the trial reported that the extract did not interfere with vaccine-induced immunity following COVISHIELD vaccination.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) released findings from Independent Drive Tests (IDTs) conducted in July 2026 to assess real-time mobile network quality (voice and data) along the Delhi-Agra Highway route and the Agra-Delhi Railway route under the Delhi License Service Area (LSA). The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways announced that the 'FASTag Annual Pass' has crossed the milestone of one crore passes issued following its launch on August 15, 2025. The pass is designed for non-commercial private vehicle owners with a valid FASTag, offering a seamless and economical travel option across approximately 1,150 fee plazas on National Highways and National Expressways. It is priced at a one-time fee of Rs. 3,075 for a validity of one year or 200 toll plaza crossings. The pass eliminates frequent recharges and is activated on the vehicle's existing FASTag after payment through the Rajmargyatra App.

The Press Information Bureau release details the rehabilitation journey of a 28-year-old individual from West Bengal under a government scheme implemented via a District De-Addiction Centre (DDAC). The beneficiary, facing personal, financial, and social difficulties due to addiction, received comprehensive rehabilitation support including inpatient treatment, detoxification, medication support, individual, group, and family counselling, as well as art therapy. Following continuous follow-up, after-care support, and family counselling, the individual showed positive progress, engaged in regular labour work, and moved towards improved financial stability and self-reliance.

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) successfully conducted a maritime rescue operation for a Belize-flagged chemical tanker, MT Seagull 9, located 37 nautical miles off the coast of Paradip, Odisha. The vessel, carrying 9,000 metric tonnes of palm oil and 23 crew members, faced an engine failure and ballast tank flooding, leading to a dangerous tilt. The ICG deployed the vessel ICGS Vishwast, a specialist damage-control team, a Pollution Control Vessel, an Offshore Patrol Vessel, and Dornier aircraft for surveillance. The team stabilized the vessel by arresting leakages and using de-flooding pumps. While a minor palm-oil sheen was observed, it dissipated, and the vessel was towed toward the Paradip anchorage. The ICG continues to maintain a watch to ensure marine environmental safety.

NITI Aayog has launched Special Campaign 6.0, following previous editions initiated by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) to institutionalize Swachhata and minimize pendency. The campaign focuses on liquidating pendency in Members of Parliament references, State Government references, Inter-Ministerial references, Parliamentary Assurances, PMO references, Public Grievances, and Public Grievance Appeals, alongside weeding out redundant files, improving office cleanliness, and enhancing space management. Previously, Special Campaign 5.0 saw NITI Aayog dispose of 4,105 Public Grievances, 127 PMO references, 34 Public Grievance Appeals, and 5 Parliamentary Assurances, while freeing about 90 sq. ft. of space and raising Rs. 1,96,905 through scrap disposal.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has dismantled a pan-India gold smuggling syndicate, arresting 11 individuals, including a mastermind. The operation, conducted across Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, and Guwahati, resulted in the seizure of 6.61 kg of foreign-origin gold valued at Rs. 10.36 crore. Investigations revealed the syndicate utilized courier networks to transport gold smuggled via the Indo-Bangladesh border, splitting shipments into smaller consignments to evade detection. Documentary evidence suggests that over the past nine months, the syndicate successfully transported 318 kg of smuggled gold, with an estimated value of Rs. 475 crore, using courier channels for distribution into the domestic market. The seizures were executed under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962.
