According to quick estimates released by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, India's cumulative exports of merchandise and services for April–September 2026–27 are estimated at US$ 476.20 billion, reflecting an estimated growth of 13.84% compared to US$ 418.31 billion in April–September 2025–26. Cumulative merchandise exports reached US$ 259.89 billion, while cumulative merchandise imports touched US$ 437.53 billion. For the single month of September 2026, total combined exports were estimated at US$ 80.75 billion and total imports at US$ 94.05 billion. Major drivers of merchandise export growth during this period included electronic goods, petroleum products, organic and inorganic chemicals, and engineering goods.

The Digital India BHASHINI Division (DIBD), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Manipur during the BHASHINI Rajyam Workshop in Imphal. The collaboration aims to advance multilingual artificial intelligence, strengthen language technology, and integrate Indian language solutions into government and citizen-facing digital services across Manipur. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change announced that India’s Ramsar site tally has increased to 103 following the designation of Sukhna Wetland in Chandigarh and Sauj Jheel in Uttar Pradesh as new Ramsar sites. The Capacity Building Commission (CBC) is organizing the third regional workshop of Sādhana Śhrinkhla 2026 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, on 23 and 24 October 2026. The event brings together eight States and four Union Territories from the Northern Region to deliberate on transforming Government Training Institutes into modern, competency-driven capacity building institutions under Mission Karmayogi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation for various development projects in Ladakh via video conferencing. The Ministry of Defence has signed contracts totaling approximately Rs 4,106 crore to procure the GSAT-7C communication satellite for the Indian Air Force and Varunastra Heavy Weight Torpedoes for the Indian Navy. The Rs 2,563 crore contract for the indigenously designed and manufactured GSAT-7C satellite was inked with New Space India Limited, Bengaluru, to enhance secure and seamless communication for IAF assets. The Rs 1,543 crore contract for Varunastra, an indigenous ship-launched anti-submarine torpedo developed by the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory, was signed with Bharat Dynamics Limited, Hyderabad. These contracts support domestic defence manufacturing and self-reliance under the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' and 'Make-in-India' initiatives.

The Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, organized an Orientation-cum-Review Workshop in Bhopal on the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS). The workshop focused on reviewing implementation progress, training officials on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), and addressing verification challenges. The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS), Ministry of Jal Shakti, organized the 13th District Collectors’ Peyjal Samvad under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) 2.0 to accelerate rural drinking water service delivery, source sustainability, and community ownership. The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) conducted an inspection drive in Gurugram on October 14, 2026, to assess road dust and the effectiveness of road cleaning and sweeping operations. Deploying four flying squads, the inspection covered 52 road stretches spanning about 104 kilometers under the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) and the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA). The drive recorded 258 violations, including visible road dust, accumulated Construction & Demolition waste, damaged footpaths, and potholes. MCG, GMDA, and other agencies have been directed to take corrective measures and maintain roads in a dust-free condition, with warnings of strict action for non-compliance.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Shri Piyush Goyal launched the National Strategic Trade Command Centre (NSTCC) at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi. Developed by the Department of Commerce, the NSTCC aims to strengthen data-driven monitoring, trade intelligence, and evidence-based decision-making in India's international trade ecosystem. The Vice-President of India inaugurated KAUMARACON-2026, the third international conference on Kaumarabhritya (Ayurvedic paediatrics), held at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi to mark its 10th Foundation Day. The event focused on integrating classical Ayurvedic knowledge with contemporary scientific research for child health and preventive care. Mormugao Port Authority (MPA), Goa, has become India's first government autonomous body and first major port to secure Captive Non-Public Network (CNPN) authorisation for a private 5G network, obtained in September 2026. This initiative by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways supports smart port operations, cargo tracking, and digital transformation in the maritime sector. MPA has engaged a consultancy agency to prepare a Detailed Project Report, issued a Request for Information for system integrators and OEMs, and is currently conducting Proof of Concept trials. The private 5G network aims to offer high-speed connectivity, low latency, and reliable communication for applications such as real-time monitoring, drone-based surveillance, smart sensors, and automated logistics.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and the Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN) conducted a joint operation to destroy 2.87 hectares (7.08 acres) of illicit cannabis cultivation located within a wildlife sanctuary near village Jamniapani in Shirpur, District Dhule, Maharashtra. Acting on specific intelligence, the joint team navigated challenging conditions including remote and densely forested terrain, wild animals, and a lack of mobile network connectivity. Following requisite legal formalities, the cannabis crop was destroyed using a rotavator in the presence of Police and Forest Department officials.
