The National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) has released Rs 15.52 crore in Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) proceeds generated from ten commercial mustard hybrid varieties developed by M/s. The Ministry of Earth Sciences, through the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and its institutes, monitors weather and climate across India using a network of Doppler Weather Radars, Automatic Weather Stations, rain gauges, ocean moored buoys, coastal buoys and High‑Frequency radars. It prepares Monthly and Annual Climate Summaries, State‑wise Climate Statements and Climate Diagnostic Bulletins, and has produced a Coastal Vulnerability Index (scale 1:100,000) and Multi‑Hazard Vulnerability Mapping (scale 1:25,000) for the coastline. Real‑time data feed high‑resolution models to improve forecasts, which are disseminated via MAUSAM, Meghdoot, DAMINI, UMANG, SAMUDRA, SACHET and other apps, as well as through Panchayat‑level platforms under the Panchayat Mausam Seva initiative. Mission Mausam aims for a 10‑15 % improvement in forecast accuracy by 2030, 5 km × 5 km spatial resolution and household‑level early warnings.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has upgraded its Long Range Forecast (LRF) system by adopting a Multi‑Model Ensemble (MME) approach that combines multiple coupled dynamical climate models, reducing the average absolute error of seasonal monsoon forecasts from 7.8% (2016‑2020) to 2.2% of the Long Period Average (2021‑2025).
