The corridor aims to decongest Varanasi, improve road safety, lower vehicle operating costs, and enhance regional connectivity and multimodal logistics in line with the PM Gati Shakti plan.

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the Semicon 2.0 programme with a budget of Rs 1,27,500 crore to expand India’s semiconductor design and manufacturing ecosystem.
