The Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) reported that under the Scheme to Promote Registration of Employers/Employees (SPREE 2025) from July 2025 to January 2026, 1,38,718 new employers and 1,12,72,772 employees were added to ESI coverage. ESIC has undertaken initiatives to strengthen its healthcare infrastructure, including increasing bed capacity, procuring advanced medical equipment, setting up ICU/HDU facilities, operationalising new hospitals and dispensaries, empaneling private and super‑specialty hospitals, upgrading digital platforms for OPD appointments, introducing Aadhaar‑based authentication and online cash‑benefit claims, and collaborating with AB‑PMJAY for secondary and tertiary care where ESIC facilities are insufficient. New or upgraded hospitals have been operationalised at Ompora (J&K), Doddaballapur (Karnataka), Sriperumbudur (Tamil Nadu), Surat (Gujarat), Sanath Nagar (Telangana), Beltola (Assam) and Rajamahendravaram (Andhra Pradesh).

According to the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, 33 of the 37 State/UT legislatures have signed MoUs for the National e‑Vidhan Application (NeVA). Under the project, 21 legislative houses have been converted to digital legislatures. The NeVA project is funded at Rs 673.94 crore, with the Centre contributing Rs 423.60 crore, and Rs 23,58,20,600 has been sanctioned for the two houses of the Andhra Pradesh Legislature. A mid‑term evaluation states that digitisation has improved legislative efficiency, reduced reliance on paper, accelerated processing and dissemination of business, enhanced accessibility of information, and generated savings in printing, handling and storage. Technical support and capacity‑building are provided through the Central Project Management Unit in consultation with the respective legislatures.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) secured a favourable arbitration outcome for the Bareilly‑Sitapur BOT project after the concessionaire, Bareilly Highways Project Limited, claimed about Rs 3,177 crore. The three‑member Arbitral Tribunal allowed only three claims totalling Rs 46 crore plus interest, rejecting the rest. The Tribunal upheld the 30 March 2015 Supplementary Agreement and found project delays concurrent, while NHAI’s counterclaims were not granted. The release also cites recent NHAI arbitration wins: Rs 1,202 crore in the Tumkur‑Chitradurga case (June 2026), Rs 819.96 crore in the Panipat‑Jalandhar case (April 2026), and Rs 54 lakh in the Kamrej‑Chalthan case (May 2026). These outcomes highlight NHAI’s emphasis on contractual discipline and protection of public funds in national highway projects.

The Ministry of Education disclosed that the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) scheme, a centrally‑sponsored programme aimed at strengthening more than 14,500 schools, has so far selected 13,092 schools across States and Union Territories, including KVS, NVS and NCERT institutions. A written reply by Minister of State for Education, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, in Lok Sabha provided a state‑wise annexure listing the number of schools and teachers appointed for non‑Hindi native languages – Sanskrit, Urdu and regional languages – totalling 6,102 Sanskrit, 1,994 Urdu and 9,152 regional‑language teachers nationwide. The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) reports that under the Skill India Mission, the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 4.0 (since FY 2022‑23) emphasizes emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Robotics, Cloud Computing, IoT, Data Analytics, Cyber Security and Green Technologies. The Directorate General of Training (DGT) has created 170 NSQF‑compliant courses, including 32 new‑age/future‑skills courses under the Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) covering AI, Industrial Robotics, Cyber Security and Green Skills. Annexures list state‑wise numbers of candidates trained in AI‑related programmes under PMKVY 4.0, CTS/ITIs (2019‑2025) and the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS). The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is implementing the Skill India Mission (SIM) to provide skill, re‑skill and up‑skill training across India, including Andhra Pradesh. Under flagship schemes – Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) and the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) – short‑term courses and apprenticeships are offered in GIS, spatial data management, drone technology, software development, telecommunications and electronics. IN‑SPACe, under the Department of Space, has introduced 11 short‑term space‑technology courses, training over 1,000 candidates nationwide. Under the Skill India Mission, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is delivering skill, re‑skill and up‑skill training for the maritime sector through schemes such as PMKVY, JSS, NAPS and CTS. In Kasaragod district, 240 candidates have been trained under PMKVY, with 197 receiving certification. The Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) has approved 171 Maritime Training Institutes (MTIs) and issued approved maritime courses aligned with the IMO’s STCW Convention. The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) has signed MoUs with 11 shipyards and 34 ITIs for 150‑hour on‑the‑job training, implemented Training‑of‑Trainers programmes, completed a skill‑gap study across nine shipyards, established the Indian Ship Technology Centre, and entered a skill‑development project with KOICA. These measures aim to enhance employability of coastal youth and build a globally competitive maritime workforce.

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Mumbai Branch Office held a hybrid Manak Manthan on 24 July 2026 to seek stakeholder input on two draft Indian Standards – ‘Plastic Containers for Microwave Use – Specification’ and ‘Plastic Feeding & Drinking Containers, Accessories & Cutleries for Infants – Specification’. The technical session was led by Scientist‑E/Director Shri Mahendar Singh Jakhar, who explained the quality, safety and performance provisions. Representatives from manufacturing firms, industry bodies, testing labs and other stakeholders participated both offline and online, offering observations and recommendations. The event aimed to incorporate stakeholder feedback into the standardisation process, reinforcing BIS’s objective of developing robust, relevant Indian Standards through participatory consultation.

The Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, announced the creation of a task force to support India’s toy sector and launched a Toy Sector Playbook. The task force aims to achieve six objectives, including integration with global value chains, strengthening manufacturing, resolving bottlenecks, skill development, design and innovation, and improving ease of doing business, with a target of attaining a 5 % share of the global toy market by 2032. The playbook provides guidance on manufacturing ecosystems, standards, skills, innovation, intellectual property, and export opportunities. The sector currently comprises over 21,000 MSMEs, 770 DPIIT‑recognised startups, about 50 clusters and more than 1,800 BIS licencees.

The Kosi–Mechi Intra‑State Link Project has been placed under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayi Yojana – Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (PMKSY‑AIBP) with a balance cost of Rs 6,143.22 crore, of which Rs 3,652.56 crore is central assistance. The project, slated for completion by March 2029, includes remodeling of the Eastern Kosi Main Canal (KM 0.00‑41.30) at a contract value of Rs 2,639.80 crore and has achieved 8.5 % physical progress. The Ministry of Culture’s Museum Grant Scheme provides financial assistance for establishing new museums, upgrading existing ones, digitising collections, creating virtual museums and training museum professionals. Museums are classified into three categories – Category I (central/state‑owned museums in state capitals), Category II (other central/state‑owned museums) and Category III (societies, autonomous bodies, trusts, PSUs, academic institutions). Funding limits range from Rs 15 crore for Category I (new museums) to Rs 4 crore for Category III (development), with additional component‑wise assistance of up to Rs 50 lakh. Eligibility requires a minimum three‑year existence (relaxable), a substantial collection, and the ability to bear recurring costs. The scheme also supports digitisation and virtual museum projects, and the Ministry of Tourism promotes museums as tourism attractions.

The Ministry of Culture, via the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), maintains and upgrades museums and interpretation centres related to the Indian freedom movement. Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia chaired a Parliamentary Consultative Committee meeting of the Ministry of Development of North‑Eastern Region (MDoNER) to review its flagship Unique Selling Proposition (USP) initiative. The Minister emphasized that the USP is state‑driven, with each North‑East state identifying one flagship product—currently seven missions such as the Kiwi Mission (Arunachal Pradesh) and Muga Silk Mission (Assam). MDoNER acts as an aggregator, coordinating central ministries, state governments, FPOs, industry and financial institutions to build market‑linked value chains, focusing on production, quality, processing, branding, logistics and export readiness. MPs suggested additional technical manpower, faster approvals and stronger inter‑ministerial coordination. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) regulates tree felling and timber transit for agro‑forestry through State Forest Acts, the Indian Forest Act, 1927 and court orders. It has issued guidelines to liberalise transit permits, revised Wood‑Based Industries guidelines in 2022, and released a National Transit Pass System (NTPS) in December 2023 that has issued 4,36,258 transit passes nationwide. In June 2025, MoEFCC issued Model Rules for felling trees on agricultural land to promote agro‑forestry. The Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) has released 69 tree varieties for agro‑forestry, and the Ministry has published FAQs and booklets on cultivation of select tree species.

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change reports that the National Disaster Management Plan lists heat waves among 17 major hazards and assigns responsibilities to central ministries, state disaster authorities, district authorities and local bodies. The National Disaster Management Authority’s Guidelines (2016, revised 2019) enable heat‑prone states and UTs to prepare State, District and City Heat Action Plans, conduct vulnerability assessments for groups such as the elderly, children, outdoor workers and urban poor, and recommend urban heat‑mitigation measures like increasing green cover, cool roofs and preserving water bodies. Under schemes such as AMRUT, AMRUT 2.0, SSASCI, Nagar Van Yojana and community initiatives like Women SHGs under AMRUT Mitra and ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’, tree‑plantation drives are being undertaken to enhance urban greening and climate resilience.

The Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs notes that under the Constitution’s 12th Schedule, municipal roads and pedestrian footpaths are state responsibilities, but the Centre supports them through model regulations and schemes. The Gyan Bharatam Mission (GBM) aims to create a pan‑India network of Cluster Centres (CCs) and Independent Centres (ICs) for the cataloguing, conservation, digitisation and publication of manuscripts. Selection of centres is based on criteria such as size of manuscript collections, institutional capacity, qualified manpower, infrastructure, regional representation and experience in manuscript‑related work. The National Manuscript Survey launched in March 2026 reported more than 1.19 crore manuscripts, with over 8 lakh digitised and 3.90 lakh available on the Gyan Bharatam portal. Budget allocations have risen from ₹3.50 cr (2024‑25) to ₹60.00 cr (2026‑27), with actual expenditure of ₹4.48 cr in 2026‑27. A list of 47 onboarded centres across states is annexed, reflecting the mission’s expansive reach.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a press release dated 27 July 2026, extended greetings to all Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel on their Raising Day. Impact assessments in 2017 and 2025 found MyGov expanded public participation; consequently, the platform added multilingual support in 12 languages, a mobile app, enhanced digital outreach and periodic usability upgrades. Citizen feedback is forwarded to the respective ministries for consideration, though final policy decisions remain with those ministries.

The Ministry of Coal has notified the “Coal Exchange Rules, 2026” under Section 18(B)(3) of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957, as amended in 2025. Through Gazette Notification G.S.R. 442 (E) dated 4 June 2026 and notification S.O. 5730 (E) dated 10 December 2025, the Coal Controller Organization (CCO) is appointed as the authority to register and regulate Coal Exchanges. Any entity, including captive and commercial miners, may trade on these exchanges, with price discovery conducted via a fair, neutral, competitive mechanism approved by the CCO and adjusted for coal quality. Market oversight and surveillance mechanisms are mandated to prevent manipulation, and public‑sector coal companies can also participate.
