Union Health Minister Shri J.P. Nadda inaugurated Arogya Manthan 2026, marking eight years of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) and five years of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). Organised by the National Health Authority (NHA), the event highlighted that AB PM-JAY has covered over 60 crore beneficiaries with more than 13 crore hospital admissions. Key digital initiatives launched include the National Healthcare Providers Registry Mobile App, a Secure Data Environment developed with IISc Bengaluru, and an Auto-Adjudication Framework for AB PM-JAY claims. Additionally, top-performing States and Union Territories were recognized for excellence in implementing AB PM-JAY and ABDM.

The Technology Development Board (TDB) under the Department of Science & Technology (DST) has signed an agreement with M/s Agnikul Cosmos Private Limited to provide ₹200 crore in financial support through Optionally Convertible Debentures (OCD) under the Research Development and Innovation (RDI) Fund. The project aims to develop the Agnibaan Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV), targeting the advancement of technology readiness from TRL-4 and above to TRL-8. The initiative focuses on full-system reusability—moving beyond first-stage recovery to enable high-frequency, repeatable launches, reduce manufacturing and launch costs, and minimize space debris using a semi-cryogenic liquid propulsion system and a reusable upper-stage architecture.

The Government of India, in consultation with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), has announced its borrowing plan for the second half (H2) of FY 2026-27, totaling ₹7,86,000 crore, which includes Sovereign Green Bonds worth ₹15,000 crore. The total market borrowing through dated securities for the full fiscal year 2026-27 is expected to be ₹15,99,506 crore. The H2 gross market borrowing will be conducted via 23 weekly auctions across various tenors ranging from 3 to 50 years. Additionally, the government plans to borrow ₹23,000 crore per week during the third quarter through Treasury Bills, and the RBI has set the Ways and Means Advances (WMA) limit at ₹50,000 crore for H2 of FY 2026-27.

The Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change launched the Inception Workshop for the 6th Cycle of Management Effectiveness Evaluation of Tiger Reserves in India (MEE-TR) and released the Technical Manual for MEE-TR 2026. Organised by the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) and the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) in New Delhi, the 6th cycle will cover all 58 tiger reserves in the country. MEE-TR assesses management effectiveness using a framework adapted from the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas, evaluating six elements: context, planning, inputs, processes, outputs, and outcomes. A notable addition in MEE-TR 2026 is the introduction of 'Solid Waste Management' as a separate evaluation criterion.

The 9th edition of the India International Water Week (IIWW) 2026 is held in New Delhi from September 22–26, 2026, organized by the Ministry of Jal Shakti under the theme "Climate Resilient Water Management." Conceptualised in 2012, IIWW serves as a biennial platform for policymakers, researchers, industry leaders, and communities to discuss sustainable water management across seven sub-themes. The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises has rolled out credit guarantee coverage on the Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS) platform through the integration of the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE) Portal with M1xchange, RXIL, and DTX (KredX). This initiative stems from the Union Budget 2026-27 announcement to support invoice discounting for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs). The initiative aims to mitigate credit risk for financiers, improve working capital access, address delayed payments, and digitize the guarantee journey. Eligibility requires both buyers and sellers to be MSEs, with a guarantee cover of 75% of the default amount and revolving maximum exposures of ₹10 crore for buyers and ₹2 crore for sellers.

As part of the QUAD-at-Sea Ship Observer Mission, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Ship Shaunak sailed from Chennai to Perth, Australia, to advance maritime cooperation and interoperability among QUAD nations (India, Australia, Japan, and the United States). Six Sea Riders—including officers from India, Japan, Australia, and the United States—embarked on the ship for professional exchanges and shipboard activities to build mutual trust and coordination. The Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change launched the workshop on the 'Capacity Enhancement for Effective Forest Management Project' in New Delhi, organised in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Scheduled to run from 2025-26 to 2031-32 with a total financial outlay of Rs. 537.10 crore, the project aims to enhance the capabilities of frontline forest personnel and strengthen research and development for sustainable forest management. Key focus areas include forest fire management, biodiversity conservation, climate action, wood transformation, livelihood generation, and digital transformation for forestry.

The Ministry of Rural Development is rolling out Deen Dayal Upadhyaya- Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) 2.0 training batches across most States and UTs starting October 2026. Under the scheme, which is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme providing placement-linked skill training to poor rural youth with durations ranging from 3 to 12 months, over 9 lakh targets have been allocated to 31 participating States and UTs for the 2026-28 period. According to the DDU-GKY 2.0 portal, 24 States and UTs have allocated 5.6 lakh targets towards more than 1,200 projects to Project Implementation Agencies, with around 70,000 rural youth expected to begin training across 2,015 batches in October 2026.

The Vice-President addressed the 4th edition of the International Strategic Engagement Programme (IN-STEP) at Uprashtrapati Bhawan, organized jointly by the Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Defence, and National Security Council Secretariat at the National Defence College. India and France have reaffirmed their commitment to power sector cooperation during a meeting between the Secretary (Power) and the Chairman and CEO of EDF in New Delhi. Discussions focused on the deployment of EPR reactor technology, localization of the nuclear supply chain, and cooperation on pumped hydro storage projects. The Indian side briefed officials on regulatory reforms for the nuclear sector, including the Draft SHANTI (Sustainable Harnessing and Advancement of Nuclear Energy for Transforming India) Rules and Regulations, which aim to provide a streamlined, time-bound licensing framework and enable private and foreign partner participation. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has launched the Digital Connectivity Rating (DCR) Platform alongside a mobile app. The platform facilitates the implementation of the framework prescribed under the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Rating of Properties for Digital Connectivity) Regulations, 2024, and its subsequent amendment and rating manual. It connects Property Managers, registered Digital Connectivity Rating Agencies, and consumers on a common interface to manage property registration, assessment, report generation, and certification. The platform enables consumers to search and verify property digital connectivity ratings based on parameters such as fibre readiness, mobile network availability, in-building solutions, and Wi-Fi infrastructure.

Astronomers from institutions including the Raman Research Institute (RRI), an autonomous institute under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), and Arizona State University have discovered a mechanism explaining how supermassive black holes at the centres of galaxies shape their host galaxies. Beyond the galactic disk lies the circumgalactic medium (CGM), a diffuse reservoir of gas that provides fuel for star formation. Researchers found that jets of seething hot plasma burped out by central black holes impact the gas in the CGM along their path rather than affecting it uniformly in all directions. This energy deposition kindles and ionizes the gas, preventing it from cooling and clumping together into stars, thereby suppressing star formation and keeping galaxies quiet and passive.

According to the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) Flash Report for August 2026, the PAIMANA (renamed as PAIMANA-PROJ) platform tracks 1,731 ongoing Central Sector infrastructure projects worth ₹150 crore and above, with a total revised cost of ₹33.60 lakh crore. Cumulative expenditure stands at ₹16.33 lakh crore, which is approximately 48.59 per cent of the revised cost. The data shows that 647 projects have achieved over 80 per cent physical progress, while 312 have crossed 80 per cent financial completion. The Transport & Logistics sector accounts for the highest number of projects and revised costs, with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways leading individual ministries in project count.

The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) has released the 52nd Monthly Report on the Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) for Central Ministries and Departments covering August 2026. The report highlights that Central Ministries and Departments redressed 2,42,391 grievances during the month, with the Central Secretariat crossing 1 lakh monthly disposals for the 50th consecutive month. The average grievance disposal time for the year stands at 13 days. The Fishery Survey of India (FSI) has initiated a two-day national workshop in Mumbai to develop a marine mammal conservation roadmap for 2027–2032. Held under the theme "Marine Mammal Conservation: Science, Fisheries & Community Action," the workshop focuses on strengthening scientific information on marine mammals within India's Exclusive Economic Zone. Discussions center on improving monitoring through modern tools such as Passive Acoustic Monitoring, environmental DNA, and satellite telemetry, alongside reducing accidental bycatch using improved fishing gear and acoustic deterrents. The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) released its 49th monthly report on the Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) for States and UTs for August 2026. According to the report, 98,997 public grievance cases were received and 79,639 cases were redressed across States and UTs in August 2026. Total pendency stood at 2,53,040 cases as of 31st August 2026, with 23 States and UTs carrying more than 1,000 pending cases each. Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest monthly disposals. Additionally, the report outlines grievance registrations via Common Service Centres (CSCs), new user registrations on the CPGRAMS portal, and capacity-building progress under the Sevottam Scheme.
