The Digital India BHASHINI Division (DIBD), under the Digital India Corporation (DIC), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), in collaboration with the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG), has launched "CAG-BHASHINI Anuvaad". This custom-built, AI-enabled document translation solution is designed to support the translation of official CAG documents and audit-related reports. Unveiled during the closing ceremony of the 74th Hindi Diwas and Hindi Pakhwada 2026, the tool integrates Language AI into institutional workflows while addressing requirements of security, controlled access, and data sovereignty. BHASHINI currently supports 36 Indian text languages, 23 Indian voice languages, and 35 international languages, aiding government institutions in making official information more accessible in diverse Indian languages.

Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy unveiled the Impact Report of the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) Industry Accelerator Project at Navigyaan 2026 in New Delhi. The initiative, part of the Scheme for Enhancement of Competitiveness in the Indian Capital Goods Sector - Phase II, provided ₹35.72 crore in Grant-in-Aid to help 10 technologies progress from Technology Readiness Level 3 to Level 9. The supported technologies focus on areas such as electric mobility, power electronics, high-voltage motor control, energy storage, predictive maintenance, sensors, and advanced surface engineering. The event emphasized developing domestic manufacturing, intellectual property, resilient supply chains, and strengthening industry-academia collaboration towards the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat@2047.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation with the President of the United States of America, H.E. Mr. Donald Trump. During the discussion, the two leaders reviewed the progress of bilateral cooperation across several areas, including trade, defence, energy, and critical technologies. They reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership, agreed to maintain close engagement for mutual benefit, and exchanged views on regional and international developments concerning global peace and security.

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal arrived in Milwaukee, U.S., to participate in the G20 Trade Ministers’ Meeting. During his visit, he interacted with CEOs and senior executives of U.S. manufacturing and technology companies at a roundtable hosted by the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) and attended a reception hosted by the Business Roundtable and NAM at Rockwell Automation. According to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Delhi recorded its lowest monthly average Air Quality Index (AQI) for September in 2026, registering 102 compared to previous years from 2022 onwards. The period from January to September 2026 also saw the highest number of days with daily average AQI under 200 ('Moderate' category) at 194 days, and the lowest number of 'Poor to Severe+' days at 79 days over the past five years. Furthermore, Delhi recorded a joint-lowest average PM2.5 concentration of 69 µg/m³ for January–September 2026. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) continues working with stakeholders to abate air pollution in Delhi-NCR.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will participate in the Centenary Celebrations of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on October 1, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, and address the gathering. The event marks the culmination of year-long celebrations commemorating 100 years since the establishment of the UPSC in 1926. Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has approved a Minimum Support Price (MSP) procurement worth ₹5,547.99 crore under the Price Support Scheme (PSS) for the Kharif Marketing Season 2026-27 in Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana. The decision targets the procurement of 7.06 lakh metric tonnes of pulses and oilseeds—specifically tur, moong, soybean, and sunflower—to protect farmers from market price declines and provide remunerative returns. Uttar Pradesh has been sanctioned the largest share at ₹3,992.57 crore, followed by Karnataka at ₹1,107 crore and Telangana at ₹448.42 crore. The initiative aims to enhance farmers' economic security, encourage domestic production, and support India's self-reliance in pulses and edible oils.

A study by the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS) estimates India's Ayush services economy at US$36.92 billion in FY2024–25, registering a 16.91 percent CAGR since FY2022–23. Released during the 11th Ayurveda Day celebrations, the study covers 15,914 establishments across all six Ayush systems. It highlights that clinics and day-care centres form the core of the sector, with Ayurveda generating the largest revenue share. Furthermore, the report notes that the sector directly supports 1.76 million livelihoods with high female workforce participation, generates significant Medical Value Travel revenue, and is projected to scale to US$216–318 billion by 2047.

The Indian Coast Guard, in coordination with the Anti-Terrorism Squad of Gujarat, intercepted a transnational drug trafficking syndicate in the Arabian Sea west of Lakshadweep on September 25, 2026. The joint operation resulted in the seizure of approximately 526 kg of high-grade narcotics, including heroin and methamphetamine, valued at over Rs 3,000 crores. Five Pakistani nationals operating an Iranian dhow were apprehended. The vessel, crew, and contraband were escorted under armed security to Mumbai for joint interrogation, multi-agency investigation, and legal proceedings.

The second edition of the Naval Commanders’ Conference 2026 commenced in New Delhi to discuss operational preparedness, maritime security, and future capability development. The conference was addressed by the Raksha Mantri, who highlighted the Indian Navy's strategic role, its position as a First Responder and Preferred Security Partner in the Indian Ocean Region, and its conduct of Operation Urja Suraksha. Discussions among the Chief of the Naval Staff, Chief of the Defence Staff, and Chief of the Army Staff focused on technology absorption, Aatmanirbharta (indigenous capability development), jointness, Tri-Service synergy, and integrated responses to emerging security challenges.

The Ministry of Finance has released the consolidated Monthly Accounts of the Union Government of India up to August 2026 for the financial year 2026-27. According to the report, the Government of India received ₹13,67,709 crore, which accounts for 37.5% of the corresponding Budget Estimates (BE) for 2026-27. This includes ₹8,37,921 crore in net tax revenue, ₹4,54,549 crore in non-tax revenue, and ₹75,239 crore in non-debt capital receipts. Total expenditure incurred stood at ₹20,77,958 crore (38.9% of BE 2026-27), comprising ₹15,68,009 crore on the revenue account and ₹5,09,949 crore on the capital account. Additionally, ₹5,90,391 crore was transferred to state governments as tax devolution.

Indian security forces neutralized senior Lashkar-e-Toiba Commander Musa, also known as Asif Fauji, during an intelligence-led joint operation at Gurwatkalan in Budgam district, Jammu and Kashmir. The operation formed part of the ongoing, long-sustained 'Operation Sheruwali' initiated in May 2026. The neutralization marks the elimination of a four-member group of senior LeT commanders operating in the Union Territory since 2022, who were linked to several attacks including the Halan, DKG, Kandi, Shahsitar, Shiv Khori, Gagangir, Bootapathri, and Baisaran attacks. The other three commanders—Junaid Bhat, Suleman, and Yasir—were previously neutralized in separate encounters.

A joint 16-day operation conducted from 14th to 30th September by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), the Indian Coast Guard, and central intelligence agencies resulted in the seizure of 526 kilograms of methamphetamine and heroin from an Iranian boat in India's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). Five Pakistani nationals were arrested during the operation, which took place 160 nautical miles northwest of Lakshadweep and 490 nautical miles southwest of Mumbai. Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah noted that the event exemplifies inter-agency coordination in securing maritime borders, while mentioning the government's Vision Document on Drug Control (2026–2029) as a comprehensive roadmap for enforcement and drug network disruption.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) project for Delhi, implemented by Delhi Police at an estimated cost of Rs. 1,789.52 crore. Covering 42 traffic corridors in three phases over 24 months, the project deploys AI-enabled adaptive traffic signals, automated enforcement, and real-time traffic information systems to improve urban mobility, safety, and traffic management in the National Capital. The initiative aims to address challenges arising from high vehicular growth exceeding road infrastructure expansion by shifting from manual regulation to dynamic, technology-driven traffic management, emergency vehicle prioritization, and integrated command-and-control operations.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by the Prime Minister, has approved the implementation of the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) Project by Delhi Police at an estimated cost of Rs.1,789.52 crore. Covering 42 identified traffic corridors across Delhi in three phases over 24 months, the project aims to transition Delhi's traffic management to real-time operations. It incorporates AI-enabled adaptive traffic signals, automated enforcement of traffic violations, integrated command-and-control systems, and priority movement for emergency vehicles and ambulances. The project will be implemented through a Master System Integrator with technical support from C-DAC as the Project Management Consultant.

The Ministry of Coal and Ministry of Mines, Government of India, hosted 'India Mining: Global Connect', bringing together diplomatic missions from 19 countries as part of the build-up to India Mining Week 2026. Scheduled for 15-17 November 2026 at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, India Mining Week 2026 aims to serve as a conference-cum-exhibition for the mining and minerals sector. The Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas released the draft Petroleum (Amendment) Bill, 2026, along with an explanatory note, on September 30, 2026. The draft has been published on the Ministry's website to invite comments and suggestions from stakeholders and the general public as part of a pre-legislative consultation process. Stakeholders and members of the public can submit their feedback by post to the Under Secretary (Distribution) at Kartavya Bhawan-03, New Delhi, or via designated email addresses on or before October 30, 2026. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), a 100 per cent Government of India-owned Central Public Sector Undertaking under the Department of Telecommunications, is celebrating its 27th Foundation Day on October 1, 2026. Established in 2000, BSNL provides mobile, Bharat Fiber FTTH broadband, fixed-line, and enterprise services across the country. The organization has contributed to expanding telecom infrastructure in rural, remote, and strategic areas, and implementing national initiatives like BharatNet. Regionally, the BSNL Nagpur Business Area in Vidarbha has upgraded its telecom infrastructure, deploying optical fibers and rolling out 4G services to meet evolving user requirements.

As part of Special Campaign 6.0 (running from 2nd to 31st October 2026), the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) has engaged MSTC Limited—a Miniratna Category-I Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Steel—to scientifically collect, segregate, and dispose of departmental e-waste. Utilizing MSTC's specialised e-auction platform, obsolete IT assets like computers, printers, and servers will be disposed of transparently and in compliance with the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022. This initiative aims to free up office space, channel waste through authorised recyclers to convert waste into resources, generate government revenue, and promote institutionalised cleanliness and sustainable practices.
