The Union Budget 2026‑27 announced an integrated development programme for 500 reservoirs and Amrit Sarovars to boost fisheries and aquaculture. Investment will be based on Detailed Project Reports submitted by States and Union Territories, with selection considering perennial water availability and fisheries potential. The Department of Fisheries, Government of India, reviews implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) across states, including Maharashtra, via meetings, field visits and a digital platform. For the period 2020‑21 to 2026‑27, the DoF approved Maharashtra proposals worth Rs 1,601.44 crore, with a central share of Rs 593.33 crore; of this, Rs 419.02 crore has been released and the state has utilized Rs 408.77 crore. Maharashtra reports 3,714 beneficiary projects, of which 2,856 are fully completed, generating direct employment for 15,763 persons and indirect employment for 19,528 persons. The projects cover fish landing centres, markets, artificial reefs and reservoir development.

The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying is advancing seafood export capacity under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), approving projects worth ₹21,394.88 crore (central share ₹9,510.89 crore) for export infrastructure. Through the Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF), 18 projects costing ₹345.89 crore have been supported for fish‑processing plant expansion and modernization. The MPEDA’s Technology Development for Specific Value‑Added Marine Products (TDSVMP) Scheme has provided ₹118.10 crore to 89 units (2021‑22 to 2025‑26). The Export Inspection Council (EIC) conducts FSMS training and mandatory antibiotic testing, while the National Framework on Traceability (2025) proposes a digital, phased system overseen by a National Level Governance Committee. The Union Budget 2026‑27 announced an integrated development programme for fisheries covering 500 reservoirs and Amrit Sarovars. The Department of Fisheries, after consulting states and UTs, has selected 351 reservoirs and 100 Amrit Sarovars based on perennial water availability and fisheries potential. The programme aims to tap untapped fisheries resources, improve livelihoods of reservoir fishermen and involve women SHGs, fisheries cooperatives and Fish Farmer Producer Organisations (FFPOs). Key components include hatchery set‑up, cage/pen culture, provision of boats and nets, composite fish culture, integrated fish farming, and infrastructure such as feed mills, cold storage, ice plants, fish kiosks, retail markets, transport vehicles and value‑added units. Investment will follow DPRs and be funded as per Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) guidelines, as stated by Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh in the Rajya Sabha.

Union Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan chaired a high‑level review of the Totapuri mango value chain after a committee visit to Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The expert committee, constituted under ICAR, identified low real‑pulp content in mango‑based drinks, inadequate processing capacity and old orchards as key reasons for falling farmer incomes. It recommended making 22‑25 % real mango pulp mandatory in beverages with GST incentives, creating a Central Coordination and Price Stabilisation Committee, rejuvenating orchards through top‑working, supplying fruit bags over 23,333 ha and promoting FPO‑based processing and mango‑butter products. An inter‑ministerial meeting involving FSSAI, GST Council, Finance, Food Processing, Agriculture and Health ministries was directed to finalise standards and tax structures, while APEDA will draft an export‑marketing strategy for Totapuri mangoes.

Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan chaired a two‑day Conclave of State and UT Education Ministers at the ICAR National Agricultural Science Complex, New Delhi, to review Centrally Sponsored Schemes of the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL). The National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, has opened applications for the WAVES Film Bazaar Screenwriters' Lab 2026 – an annual screenplay development programme for Indian screenwriters working on feature‑length fiction projects. The Lab, conducted in partnership with WAVES Film Bazaar, offers intensive mentoring by script experts, exposure to internationally recognised screenplay practices, and opportunities to pitch projects to producers and financiers in India and abroad. Applications are open only to Indian citizens residing in India, require registration of the screenplay with the Screenwriters Association, and involve a non‑refundable fee of ₹8,000 (early‑bird) or ₹9,000 (extended). On 22 July 2026, President Droupadi Murmu, together with President Gordana Siljanovska‑Davkova of North Macedonia, unveiled a bust of Mahatma Gandhi at the Museum of the City of Skopje. The Ministry of Railways reports that passenger‑amenity works worth Rs 46.68 crore have been executed or taken up at railway stations in Sindhudurg district from FY 2021‑22 to 30 June 2026. Major upgrades at Vaibhavwadi Road, Kankavali, Sindhudurg, Kudal and Sawantwadi Road stations include modular shelters, high‑level platforms, foot‑over‑bridges, lifts, escalators, Divyang‑friendly toilets, water and waiting facilities, and digital coach‑indication boards. New UTS‑cum‑PRS ticket‑booking facilities are operational at Sindhudurg (Oros) and Vaibhavwadi Road stations, with the RailOne app also available. Additional stoppages for several express trains have been introduced at Sindhudurg, Kankavali and Sawantwadi Road stations, enhancing district connectivity.

On 22 July 2026, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH, Shri Prataprao Jadhav inaugurated Prakriti Café at Ayush Bhawan. The café is described as a first‑of‑its‑kind workplace initiative of the Ministry of AYUSH aimed at promoting healthy dietary practices inspired by the AYUSH Ahaar programme. It offers a menu of nutritious items such as beetroot‑oats cutlet, millet dhokla, oats poha, makhana kheer, coconut water and herbal teas, priced affordably. Shri Ramchandra Kisan Jayabhaye, an Indian Postal Service officer of the 2000 batch, assumed charge as Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra Circle effective 9 July 2026. He brings more than 25 years of experience in postal administration, banking, operations and institutional management. Jayabhaye has overseen Project Arrow for modernising post offices in Aurangabad and Nagpur, expanded the postal network in Left‑Wing‑Extremism‑affected areas of Chhattisgarh by opening 391 branch post offices, and led the development of the core Insurance Management System software for Postal Life Insurance. His appointment is expected to further strengthen postal and citizen‑centric services in the Maharashtra Circle.

The Ministry of Railways reports that mission‑mode recruitment has added 5.53 lakh personnel between 2014‑15 and 2025‑26, bringing total recruitments since 2014 to 5.56 lakh. Recruitment against 1,61,889 non‑gazetted vacancies for 2024‑26 is underway under the Annual Calendar. In 2024, ten Centralised Employment Notifications (CENs) for 92,116 posts were issued and first‑stage CBTs for these posts attracted 3.58 crore candidates. Subsequent stages and skill tests have also been completed, with over 5.5 lakh candidates appearing in second‑stage CBTs and related tests. The Ministry highlights that the process was transparent with no paper‑leakage incidents.

The Union Health Ministry has expanded the nationwide Viral Research and Diagnostic Laboratories (VRDL) network to 163 labs (11 regional, 27 state and 125 medical college labs) to boost diagnostic capacity. Four Regional Next‑Generation Sequencing (NGS) hubs and Infectious Disease Research and Diagnostic Laboratories have been set up for decentralized diagnostics and genomic characterization of pathogens. Coordination between central and state health authorities is being reinforced through real‑time surveillance under IDSP/IHIP, information sharing and joint outbreak response, with mechanisms tested via simulation exercises and mock drills. The Ministry of AYUSH, in partnership with the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare under the National Health Mission (NHM), is mainstreaming AYUSH by co‑locating its facilities at Primary Health Centres, Community Health Centres and District Hospitals. As of 30 December 2025, AYUSH services are allocated in 13,249 health facilities (PHCs 6,302; CHCs 3,191; DHs 475; other 3,281) with 25,322 AYUSH doctors and 5,666 AYUSH paramedics deployed. A dedicated AYUSH Vertical under the DGHS provides planning and monitoring, while quality control is ensured through the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940 and the Pharmacopoeia Commission. Multiple research councils (CCRAS, CCRUM, CCRH, CCRS, CCRYN) are undertaking integration studies and collaborative projects with modern medical institutions.

The Press Information Bureau backgrounder highlights the role of Rural Self‑Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs) under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana‑National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY‑NRLM). RSETIs provide free, short‑term residential training to unemployed rural individuals aged 18‑50, linking the Ministry of Rural Development, State/UT governments and sponsor banks. As of March 2026, 632 RSETIs operate in 33 states/UTs covering 619 districts with support from 25 sponsor banks. Out of a target of 60.81 lakh trainees, 99.7 % (60.63 lakh) have been trained, of whom 43.89 lakh have secured sustainable livelihoods and 22.52 lakh have accessed bank finance. The Government has adopted a comprehensive strategy to promote AYUSH‑based medical tourism. A dedicated Ayush Visa (M‑3) and Attendant Visa (M‑4) were introduced on 27 July 2023 to enable foreign nationals to seek AYUSH treatment. The Ayush Quality Mark was launched at the Second Global Traditional Medicine Summit in December 2025 to align product and service standards with international expectations. The Ministry of AYUSH has published Standard Treatment Guidelines for its disciplines and established the Ayurveda Training Accreditation Board (ATAB) under Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth. It has also organised two Medical Value Travel Summits (September 2024, Mumbai; May 2025, Chennai) and participated in the WHO Global Summit on Traditional Medicine (December 2025), signing multiple MoUs under the International Cooperation (IC) Scheme.

India’s textile and apparel exports, including handicrafts, rose 1.8 % to ₹3,25,339 crore in 2025‑26 from ₹3,19,573 crore in 2024‑25, with growth recorded in over 100 export destinations.
