The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has released the results of the Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) 2024-25, covering the period from April 2024 to March 2025. The survey reports that the registered manufacturing sector comprises 2.67 lakh establishments, exhibiting a growth of 2.64% over the previous year. Key economic parameters recorded positive growth, including a 9.59% increase in Gross Value Added (GVA) to ₹2,694.2 thousand crore, a 7.19% expansion in total persons engaged to 2.10 crore, and an 11.10% expansion in invested capital. The top five industries—basic metals, motor vehicles, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and food products—contributed over 45% of the total manufacturing GVA, while Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana emerged as the leading states in manufacturing employment.

The government highlights Used Water Management (UWM) under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban (SBM-U), focusing on treating wastewater, preventing untreated sewage from entering water bodies, and promoting safe reuse. Under SBM 2.0, projects worth ₹11,785 crore have been approved to build Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) in small cities, adding 4,900 million litres per day (MLD) of treatment capacity. The Ministry of Power has notified new Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) norms for passenger vehicles manufactured or imported for sale in India, effective from 1 April 2027 to 31 March 2032. The framework introduces a tightened fuel-consumption benchmark moving from 3.996 litres/100 km in 2027–28 to 3.3273 litres/100 km in 2031–32, representing an approximate 16.7 percent improvement. The updated norms flatten the target line with a higher reference weight of 1,229 kg and provide flexibility through compliance blocks, credit trading, super credits for electric and hybrid vehicles, and a Carbon Neutrality Factor for alternative fuels like ethanol and biofuels.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for all mandated Rabi crops for the Marketing Season 2027-28 to provide remunerative prices to growers. The highest absolute MSP increase is announced for Safflower (Rs. 675 per quintal), followed by Rapeseed & Mustard (Rs. 413), Lentil (Rs. 390), Barley (Rs. 136), Gram (Rs. 83), and Wheat (Rs. 25). The National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) is marking its 23rd Foundation Day on October 1, 2026, highlighting significant progress in the Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) mechanism under the Biological Diversity Act, 2002. Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Bhupender Yadav, launched the Guidelines for the National Coastal Mission (NCM 2.0) in New Delhi. The Central Sector Scheme has an approved outlay of ₹767 crore and will be implemented until 2030-31 across nine coastal States and four Union Territories. Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has approved a Minimum Support Price (MSP) procurement worth ₹5,547.99 crore under the Price Support Scheme (PSS) for the Kharif Marketing Season 2026-27 in Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana. The decision targets the procurement of 7.06 lakh metric tonnes of pulses and oilseeds—specifically tur, moong, soybean, and sunflower—to protect farmers from market price declines and provide remunerative returns. Uttar Pradesh has been sanctioned the largest share at ₹3,992.57 crore, followed by Karnataka at ₹1,107 crore and Telangana at ₹448.42 crore. The Digital India BHASHINI Division (DIBD), under the Digital India Corporation (DIC), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), in collaboration with the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG), has launched "CAG-BHASHINI Anuvaad". This custom-built, AI-enabled document translation solution is designed to support the translation of official CAG documents and audit-related reports. Unveiled during the closing ceremony of the 74th Hindi Diwas and Hindi Pakhwada 2026, the tool integrates Language AI into institutional workflows while addressing requirements of security, controlled access, and data sovereignty. BHASHINI currently supports 36 Indian text languages, 23 Indian voice languages, and 35 international languages, aiding government institutions in making official information more accessible in diverse Indian languages.

Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy unveiled the Impact Report of the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) Industry Accelerator Project at Navigyaan 2026 in New Delhi. The initiative, part of the Scheme for Enhancement of Competitiveness in the Indian Capital Goods Sector - Phase II, provided ₹35.72 crore in Grant-in-Aid to help 10 technologies progress from Technology Readiness Level 3 to Level 9. Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal arrived in Milwaukee, U.S., to participate in the G20 Trade Ministers’ Meeting. According to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Delhi recorded its lowest monthly average Air Quality Index (AQI) for September in 2026, registering 102 compared to previous years from 2022 onwards. The period from January to September 2026 also saw the highest number of days with daily average AQI under 200 ('Moderate' category) at 194 days, and the lowest number of 'Poor to Severe+' days at 79 days over the past five years. Furthermore, Delhi recorded a joint-lowest average PM2.5 concentration of 69 µg/m³ for January–September 2026. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) continues working with stakeholders to abate air pollution in Delhi-NCR.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will participate in the Centenary Celebrations of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on October 1, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, and address the gathering. The event marks the culmination of year-long celebrations commemorating 100 years since the establishment of the UPSC in 1926. A study by the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS) estimates India's Ayush services economy at US$36.92 billion in FY2024–25, registering a 16.91 percent CAGR since FY2022–23. Released during the 11th Ayurveda Day celebrations, the study covers 15,914 establishments across all six Ayush systems. It highlights that clinics and day-care centres form the core of the sector, with Ayurveda generating the largest revenue share. Furthermore, the report notes that the sector directly supports 1.76 million livelihoods with high female workforce participation, generates significant Medical Value Travel revenue, and is projected to scale to US$216–318 billion by 2047.
