Vice-President calls for holistic rural development to realise Viksit Bharat 2047; graces Golden Jubilee Celebrations and 39th Convocation of Gandhigram Rural Institute

The Vice-President of India addressed the Golden Jubilee Celebrations and 39th Convocation of the Gandhigram Rural Institute in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu. Highlighting that Viksit Bharat 2047 requires empowered and holistic rural development, he emphasized the importance of rural infrastructure, basic amenities, and connecting villages to urban areas. He noted progress in rural housing, sanitation through the Swachh Bharat Mission, farmers' welfare via the PM-KISAN scheme, and a reduction in multidimensional poverty between 2014 and 2023. The Vice-President also conferred honorary doctorates on distinguished personalities, inaugurated new infrastructure facilities, released a book on ageing populations, and urged students to embrace emerging technologies and Gandhian values.
