Highlights of Telecom Subscription Data at the end of September 2026

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) released the telecom subscription data for September 2026. The report covers total telephone and broadband subscribers, growth across mobile and landline connections, urban-rural subscriber distribution, tele-density, active mobile users based on Visitor Location Register (VLR) data, and Mobile Number Portability (MNP) requests. Total telephone subscribers in India rose to 1,367.93 million at the end of September 2026, registering a monthly growth rate of 0.53 percent, with an overall tele-density of 95.52 percent. Broadband subscriptions reached 1,107.68 million. Additionally, 16.77 million subscribers submitted MNP requests during the month, and active wireless subscribers stood at 1,212.80 million.
