“Save both people and fields”: Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan launches nationwide ‘Khet Bachao Abhiyan’ from Taraori in Karnal

Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the nationwide 'Khet Bachao Abhiyan' from Taraori in Karnal, Haryana, running from 22 October to 30 November 2026. The campaign aims to raise public awareness through scientists visiting villages to curb the unbalanced use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, protect soil health, and promote natural farming practices. During the event, the Union Minister also announced financial assistance of ₹1,343.06 crore for constructing 28,422 permanent houses in Haryana under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Gramin. Key principles advocated for soil conservation include balanced fertilization based on Soil Health Cards, crop rotation involving pulses, avoiding crop residue burning, and adopting natural farming using Beejamrit and Ghanjeevamrit.
