NHAI Strengthens Air Pollution Control Measures Across Delhi-NCR through Intensified Dust-Control Measures and Faster Decongestion of National Highways
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has intensified air pollution control and dust-mitigation measures across National Highways and Expressways in Delhi-NCR ahead of the winter season. Measures include deploying water sprinklers, tankers, anti-smog guns, Mechanical Road Sweeping Machines (MRSMs), and workers. Field teams have been directed to ensure compliance with Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) norms and GRAP stages, along with daily monitoring and geo-tagged progress reports. Additionally, NHAI has planted around 9.80 lakh plants in the NCR during FY 2025-26, utilized approximately 13.58 lakh tonnes of inert material from Delhi landfill sites in embankment construction, and expedited major decongestion projects like UER-II, Dwarka Expressway, and DND–Sohna Expressway to curb vehicular emissions.
