Factual Report on PM-DAKSH

The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment released a factual report on the Pradhan Mantri Dakshata Aur Kushalta Sampann Hitgrahi (PM-DAKSH) Central Sector Scheme, launched in 2020-21. The scheme aimed to provide skill training to SC, OBC, EWS, De-notified Tribes (DNTs), and Safai Karamcharis (including waste pickers) through empanelled training institutes to promote self-employment and wage-employment. It was implemented via three corporations of the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment and utilized institutes empanelled under PMKVY. Between 2020-21 and 2023-24, an expenditure of Rs. 309.5 crores was incurred, training 1,87,305 candidates and placing 96,162. An evaluation study showed positive outcomes in relevance, learning effectiveness, and non-material gains. From 2024-25 onwards, PM-DAKSH was merged with the PMKVY scheme to avoid duplication.
