Bharat’s civilisational journey had, for centuries, been a story of cultural exchange: Hon’ble Prime Minister
The Union Minister of Culture and Tourism inaugurated a three-day international conference on 'Bharat’s Cultural Connections across the Globe' in New Delhi, organised by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA). The conference marks the centenary of the Greater India Society, established in Calcutta on October 14, 1926. It highlights the Brihattar Bharat Scheme (2026–2031) and the Brihattar Bharat Project, which seeks to engage scholars from around 51 countries in collaborative, evidence-based research regarding India's historical cultural exchanges, global knowledge systems, and shared intangible heritage. A message from the Prime Minister underscored how India's civilisational journey involved centuries of cultural exchange via land and maritime routes, carrying philosophy, arts, and traditions across the world.
