The BRICS Traditional and Indigenous Demonstration Games 2026 were held at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, bringing together delegations, athletes, and officials from 10 BRICS nations. Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya declared the games open and highlighted India's sports-related nation-building efforts, infrastructure investments, and the Khelo India initiative. During the event, the Union Minister proposed three areas of cooperation among BRICS countries: creating a voluntary BRICS repository of traditional and indigenous sports, encouraging expert and practitioner exchanges, and exploring periodic demonstrations of traditional sports at future BRICS events. Various participating nations demonstrated their traditional sports, including Mallakhamb and Yogasana from India, Capoeira from Brazil, Wushu from China, and Sambo from Russia.
